CelebritiesRe: Why I Don't Believe OJB... by SirButty: 3:35pm On Aug 22, 2013
caramel007: A couple of months ago, when OJB came out to solicit for help for his kidney problem, I felt so touch and prayed so hard that he would get the much needed help from the public. This was because I recognised him as a star whose talent in the music industry shouldn't be ignored. Especially as Nigeria is known to abandon her own.

His case gathered a lot of support from the public especially via the social media and various blackberry platforms in form of broadcast messages. Nigerians came all out for him, pleading with artistes to help their own. Finally he got more than he needed for his operation abroad. Let me not bore you with the tales since most people know how it went down. With a donation of 5million fromm Psquare, governor Rotimi Amaechi, He got more than he needed.

Please note that this is my own personal opinion which is subject to clarification and dissapproval.
I observed that while he was out soliciting for funds, we never saw ojb in an hospital. I still remember vividly, the case of Steve 'd sleek' Kadiri, We saw him in the hospital, we listened to the doctors, we saw him receiving medical care in the hospital. But permit me to say, for OJB, I can't help but express my doubts, I seriously want to believe him but then I can't help but have my doubts.

Firstly, during the fund raising period, we were told he had about 8weeks to live. It is over 8 weeks now, and he is yet to go for his "supposed" treatment abroad. Which doctor gave the 8weeks verdict? And hwy hasn't he gone for the treatment. Considering the nature of his sickness like we were made to believe, I would expect that that would be done immediately especially as he had the funds at his disposal.

Secondly, I just read that he donated a sum of 200,000 to an orphanage in Lagos. As much as I respect his kind heart, but isn't taking care of his health paramount?

He should try as much as possible so as not to pass a wrong impression on the public. I mean, let's put it this way, I give you money out of my own money and then you go and dash it out? It only means you never needed it in the first place.

For his information, he should know that he owe it to the public to know the state of his health.
i likey. i need to add to this. apart from his health being made public, he needs to give account of all expenses. this is expected in a civilized world.

firstly, the money given by river state govt, N15m / $100k, is enough for flight, operation and post operation bills. this was stated by OJBs camp when confronted by Juliet Ibrahim (google it). meaning, the amount earlier donated (about N10m)counts as extra. the noble thing to do is return the funds to each donor and ask them to channel it to others in need. i know, naija mentality, this is impossible for most people but very easy to the accountability-minded. hence, option B; send letters to each donor notifying them of his gratitude and his intention to send out the funds to others in need (attach a list) then send out the funds as stated. this can be done before or after the operation (although before operation is better to avoid temptation). keeping quiet doesn't and wont work.

secondly, a publicized donation? come on. we saw thru that eons ago.

while i understand all the noise of "God knows best", "leave it to God" etc, its important you know that God is an accountant and he will demand a full account of the expenses, here on earth so don't wait till we get to the pearly gates. God is more interested in people that can make good use of his resources and multiply produce.

OJB, think on these things.
Music/RadioRe: Mode9 Cries Out On Neglect Of His ‘type Of Rap’ by SirButty: 3:45pm On Aug 15, 2013
i mean, the guy wears timberlands, post 30yrs, nah.

theres a simple fact: In Nigeria, we dont have the so-called hip hop, rap game, all-that-jazz u hear on MTV and source magazine culture etc. we simply want gbedu!! all the rappers in naija used flowing choruses we can rock to, we DONT CARE ABOUT THE BARS YOU SPIT!! we may hail u when arguing with friends (like manchester vs chelsea) but thats the best we will do. if we feel we need some rap bars to inspire us, we like u, start playing KRS-1. turn it off after 2 songs. even in yankee, bubble gum rap and easy flows rake in the dough, while some ol guys be saying back-in-the-day...blah, blah, blah. even ice-T don de do reality show.

two choices, go commercial quickly or descend in oblivion. my advice, get your limpopo on!

RomanceRe: Can A Married Woman Have A Male Best Friend? by SirButty: 6:48pm On Oct 13, 2011
firstly forgive me for being too windy, but i have had this conversation several times from my days in campus to now, husband with 2 kids.

like she said earlier, marriage is not a prison. Its basically a responsibility.

the truth is marriage has no connection with 'campus' relationships, courtships, boyfriend/girlfriend etc. theres a vacuum. dont get me wrong. relationships lead to marriage, but theres a vaccum in-between (think of this vacuum as a telephone booth that transforms clark kent to superman) that requires certain maturity. maturity - not in the sense most use  the word, but in the sense of taking ownership of the new relationship (marriage). this means that, im responsible for this marriage and im ready to GIVE my best to make it work. its usually a short, fast and irrevocable decision. at the point of getting married, u r responsible for the other persons needs (NOT WANTS) and also the needs of the produce from the marriage (children). this is your primary responsibility. family and friends are beneath secondary, infact they are beneath university masters program (in-joke, get it?). this applies to both the man and wife. two people giving to a common goal.

if u permit this definition, u will see clearly theres no room for a best friend outside your spouse. yes, this calls for ur spouse to be the best candidate for the job. so choose wisely.

plus the responsibilities of working regular jobs (husband and wife) and having kids who are less than 10yrs old wont give room for calling or visiting friends (male or female).  the best u can do for friends these days are irregular fone calls and convenient spousal visits. infact, u will see that naturally, new married friends from social gatherings will be the other of your day. meaning they too would have busy times. thats why we get lotsa baby birthdays and wedding and church outings, hehehe.

marriage brings its own challenges and responsibilities that requires a partnership with your spouse for successful results. usually 90% of your time is for your family, be it work or play. the remaining time is for friends and the rest. there will be no time   to nurture and grow another external relationship. the basic fact of life is that we are always trading something for another. we cant have it all. if you choose to dedicate more time for external relationships (i dont care how long u have known them, why u no marry them na?), u have chosen whats important for u.

i will end my rant with the definition of cheating in marriage. it is robbing your spouse of their rights or benefits or property (sex, time, money etc) and giving same to a non-spouse.

TV/MoviesRe: Will An Action Nollywood Movie Sell In Nigeria? by SirButty: 7:44pm On Aug 29, 2011
forget about "will it sell?". anything that requires global recognition needs global certification. MAKE IT WORLD STANDARD.
decide on the highest quality and itemise everything u think is required. read extensively. ONLY work with people of similar vision.

start with the easiest things. start NOW. quentin tarantino learned how to make movies from VHS. of course, u have seen kill bill?

key ingredient - passion for quality. you know naija music videos have gone (speeding car sound in the bakground).

hopefully soon naija movies will catch up, undecided

and trust me, people are waiting for something with the umph! dont let me beat u to it, wink

best of luck.
