Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has warned the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to always explore peaceful dialogue instead of being confrontational. The governor, who promised not to unduly delay workers’ salary, also said that his administration would work maximally to make the labour movement successful during his tenure. While acknowledging the struggle of the congress for a renewed workers’ welfare and good governance, the governor disclosed that he has put machineries in place to support labour aspirations in the state.Through his Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Mike Okeme, when the executive of the state wing of NLC, led by its chairman, David Ofoeyeno, visited the Governor’s Office in Asaba, Okowa, who said labour movement should makeall affiliated bodies a united family, flayed the crisis usually generated by unions’ elections across the country. He said, “Always use dialogue to get what you want from the government of the day instead of confrontation. The union is expected to make its members one united family, so while you struggle for better welfare package for workers and good governance, don’t do anythingthat will bring shame to your state and the government on the saddle because peace is better than war.”

PoliticsRe: Delta State Govt Responds To Downgrading Of Asaba Airport by sirclemce: 10:33pm On May 06, 2015
Asaba, airport has been rated one of the best airport in the country with modern equipment and facilities put in place by the Uduaghan‘s administration. I don't see any reason why NCAA, will wake up from no where and say they downgrade the Asaba Airport. This is the only airport that has been more functional with more aircraft coming to land. Why now that the Uduaghan‘s administration is finishing strong, about leaving, that NCAA is waking up. All this are handwork of mischief makers. The issue of perimeter fencing NCAA, is talking, is already in its completion stage.
