Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Why Is Every Young Nigerian Rushing Into Tech? by SixSeven: 2:57pm On Jan 26
Nwaikpe:
Because they don't even know what Tech is.
Secondly, Nigerian loves anything that trends.

It happened with stocks
Then they moved to forex.
Then it HYIPs like MMM
Then "tech."

And basically 98% of those Nigerians you see posting on LinkedIn that they are into tech don't even know what tech is. Simply because they can do one job for a lazy secretary in Canada and get paid $1500, which gives them a strong spending value in Nigeria, they go around, buy fancy things, and think that they are into tech.

Now let me explain tech for those who really want to go into tech:
Tech is not being able to type "def function()" in Python and arrange a dataframe with graphs as well. Excel can do almost everything that we call tech if that is the only thing we know as tech.
True tech is being able to apply a new computer-based method to your specialization. Take note of the word "specialization." Meaning that if you don't have a specialization, you are not into tech. You are just floating around and waiting for the next trend. You only apply it effectively to a field you are a specialist in, or you specialize to apply it. Either one of the two.

It is not just about designing "fintech apps" with drag and drops.
"It is not just about designing "fintech apps" with drag and drops."

That actually is tech and a specialization in tech called Design Systems or UI/UX.

UI/UX is part of tech. It’s a legitimate, technical discipline that sits at the intersection of human behavior, systems constraints, product strategy and yes, visual design.

Software engineering builds the system while UI/UX defines how humans interact with the system. Both are required for real products. A fintech app with perfect backend logic but terrible UX is basically unusable. Gtbank is a good case study of this a few years ago.

People in this area have to learn WCAG guidelines - color contrast ratios (not just “does it look nice”), typography and readability, keyboard navigation, error messaging and form labels, touch targets & spacing and information hierarchy for screen readers. You are aware that because of tech, some people who were blind can now use some products of companies and these guys have to make it work. They call that accessible design. People who have visual problems, audio-visual problems or touch, the Design guys may not do coding but what they do is technical that's why there is a premium on it.

When you realize that tech is an industry, you know that it's not just knowing the hard stuff, there are support functions along the way. A good smart guy can know how to design a car but some other people put all the spare parts that make it beautiful and functional. Then there are those who sell it. The ecosystem needs different skill set.

Politics › Re: GBadebo Rhodes Vivour Releases List Of ADC Chairmen In Lagos by SixSeven:
Jonjam269:
Historically, there has been a perception that some Igbo political and business interests have sought to expand their influence within Lagos State’s political and economic space, often leveraging the long-standing liberal and inclusive nature of Yoruba society.

As a result, many Lagos government policies are frequently framed as anti-Igbo, largely to gain political sympathy or score points in public discourse.

However, when Yoruba stakeholders push back against what they see as attempts to dominate Lagos’ political authority, they are often labelled with derogatory names. Despite this resistance, these competing interests are unlikely to retreat easily. The Yoruba, on their part, are aware of these dynamics and remain prepared to assert their political rights within their own state.
I can tell you for free that Igbo are not the problem. When it comes to Lagos, it's not them, you see the politics of Lagos is more of indigenes who have been systematically chased out vs the hyenas who find it easy to blame Igbo. It's the way the elites in the west do, they make the whites feel that the immigrants are the problems and they are coming to take their place. The real indigenous people of Lagos know how to take care of no indigenes and they are not against visitors in their land. It's those who imposed themselves as ọmọ Eko that are afraid of that privilege. When you belong to the land, you don't fear competition because you can trace your source. That's the confidence you see in both Rhodes-Vivir and Doherty. It's easy to distract you with the minority so you never blame the Baba Isalẹ smiley Ask yourself what they have done to Yoruba people if their claim is right. They have mismanaged the wealth that belongs to us all and given to a few, when people ask questions they now start blaming Ọmọ Ibo. Shame no catch them. The irony of it all is that these people benefitted from Pa Awo's free education embraced by LKJ.

Funsho Doherty is likely to be the PDP candidate. Let's watch how they will look for his Igbo girlfriend when he was in Uni or how his wife's brother married an Igbo woman. They don't want anyone to talk about the real issues affecting Lagos so if they can fly this kite of tribal fear successfully, it will allow them continue their hold. Àwọn oniranu
Politics › Re: Honest Opinion… Between Atiku And Obi Who Have A Better Chance To Win Tinubu by SixSeven: 2:25am On Jan 26
Aside Obi and Kwankwanso, no other politician has been able to prove themselves ALONE outside the establishment.

Repost👇

Obi has the brightest chance going by the last election result followed by Kwankwanso. I choose these two because they left PDP and did not have the structure of the regular party, which Atiku benefitted from using the PDP platform. You also have to look at the time they had to test themselves between the election primaries and election.

If you want to know what that means, Ribadu ran the Presidential election in 2011 under AC and failed with that party structure. Obi and Kwankwanso have been able to test their popularity as candidates outside the regular establishments and done well. Both had no Governors in their party before contesting and pulled a good number in the last election. Buhari used his CPC to bargain with AC to get the Presidential slot in APC. Buhari could say whether he used ANPP or CPC, he could gather votes. I'm not so sure Atiku can do that. He was a presidential candidate of the Action Congress in the 2007 presidential election coming in third to Umaru Yar'Adua of the PDP and Muhammadu Buhari of the ANPP. Atiku came a distant third in that election with less than 10% of the votes.

Obi and Saraki/Kwankwanso

A Saraki will be a difficult campaign for APC that has defaulted to using tribes against themselves. Saraki ticks two boxes of Yoruba/North Central who have been looking for relevance since Gowon.

Here is the stats of the declared winners since 1999. Mr Bola Ahmed tinubu was not a popular president elect

Here is the brief, factual list of Nigeria’s presidential election winners since 1999, including each winner’s name and the percentage of valid votes they received.

1999 – Olusegun Obasanjo: about 62.78% of valid votes.

2003 – Olusegun Obasanjo: about 61.94% of valid votes.

2007 – Umaru Musa Yar’Adua: about 69.60% of valid votes.

2011 – Goodluck Jonathan: about 58.87% of valid votes.

2015 – Muhammadu Buhari: about 53.96% of valid votes.

2019 – Muhammadu Buhari: about 55.60% of valid votes.

2023 – Bola Ahmed tinubu: about 36.6–37% of valid votes.

A United opposition will defeat tinubu before the election begins. With a wiiiiiiiiiiiiiide margin. There is no need to argue about that.

I don't know how these important games can hold in the US when Trump is isolating his country from the rest of the world.

FIFA should consider making the US only host the group-stage games while other co-hosts handle the rest of the games.
FIFA met its match with Trump. That's why they are trying to manage him and quickly gave him that peace award. Let's leave the countries out of this. Trump had already threatened to take the tournament away from Democrat states. How about that?

With all the things Trump has been saying recently, one way to call his bluff is to look for associations to boycott the world cup. And the midterms is coming up. Repost. I can see it here with the label Chinedu, a scare tactic used by those who aren't themselves Awọn ọmọ Eko🤡 They are full of propaganda, the earlier they start using propaganda to label their opponents, the easier for them to take your eyes away from the ball. Don't forget these same people used propaganda to clean Buhari's mess as a reformed democrat 🤣 I know they were embarrassed that GRV could trace his ancestry to Lagos. The same thing for Doherty. It's easy to pick on the Igbos but those of us who know what the people of Lagos themselves are saying know they want freedom from outsiders which is an irony. Those who lay claim to Lagos can't trace their ancestry. They can't tell you their history because it does not exist. It's not so bad that non indigenes can be who they want to be in Lagos but the hypocrisy stinks when they lay claim to a title that does not belong to them. These are pests.

uote author=SixSeven post=138148137]
That man played the same game with AD so it's not a surprise to see it. Even PDP in Lagos could not be a good opposition because they kept using them as false flag. Look at the last guy who contested for Lagos Governor for PDP last time, he moved to APC and was not ashamed to let you know he worked as a mole. Mr Strategy has used this playbook many times and it works where there are hungry people who can sell their father's house for pittance. It's a Machiavellian type of politics that involves rub my back, I pat you and it's big money involved. Leave integrity for honest people. That one no consain dem.

You see this campaign they are running against Obi and GRV? They did it to Jimi Agbaje. In 2007, he made a good show in his first campaign with a relatively unknown party against Fashola, the next time he campaigned as a PDP man, they called him all manner of names and attached 'Ibo' to him. They already took care of PDP in 2007, they were not expecting an Agbaje to surprise them with organic votes under DPA, they took note from there and ever since then, he can't win their smear campaign. They are always using tribe to scare voters away but those who understand the game can see the fear. I wonder why people can't see this cheap pattern. APC pattern is familiar, that's why I have no pity for them when ipob or obidient give them the same medicine. They are half sides of a coin as far as I am concerned. It's giving them their own medicine. Propaganda must not be allowed to run unchallenged, if Obidients give them in the same coin, at least, it is fire for fire.

Mr Tinubu does not like competition, you are blocking his way. And we all knew this after Funso Williams was taken away from us by those who know themselves. If that man agrees to a debate this time, I will vote for him. But you can tell that he wasn't bothered about competition, that's why he appointed El Rufai and the gang to speak for him at Chatham House while the other contestants spoke for themselves. Mr Teamship does not bother to do presidential media chats, Mr Wike has done more media chats than the President shocked grin The morning shows the day [/quote]

Thank you, you said Yoruba land. In Igbo land, a brother can marry the wife of his late bro, in Yoruba land, it's taboo. What about that?

In Igbo land, it was usually optional, not forced (at least in principle). The woman could sometimes choose which brother, or refuse
Today, many Igbo people no longer practice it, especially due to Christianity, education, and modern law. However in Yoruba land, it's traditionally taboo. Why?
Brothers are seen as one blood, so taking your brother’s wife is viewed almost like incest. The woman is regarded as having become spiritually linked to the deceased husband. Doing so was believed to bring misfortune or spiritual consequences.

So I hope you can see that culture is not just one part and you think the world operates that way. In some parts of Southern Nigeria, the woman is the bread winner, in the North that is abnormal. Even in Yoruba land, that's ewọ!

If you are not ignorant of African history, you will know that Ancient Egyptians practised it to keep the dynasty clean just like I put in those videos, if you watched any of them. If you are referring to Oba Oyekan, you must know that there’s a wide generational gap that would not let him do that. The rules once you got into the palace in the days of Oba Oyekan were very well enforced. Tradition was very sacred and well respected. He was a great King.

Nowadays, there’s a trend where Kings take the throne to the people. They do not desecrate the throne. It is the citizens who make moths appear like anthills. Respect is never diminished. I am certain that Seyi Tinubu had a great relationship with Oba Akiolu, even long before he became an Oba. If you listen carefully to the Oba, you’ll find a strong and very personal relationship between Oba Akiolu and BAT. The families must be very close. Respect was and is not lost. That friendship was captured in that image.
The Tinubus will not be the first family that are friends to an Ọba but if that picture to you is okay, I'll save my ink.

The same way as propaganda and gaslighting is considered part of nigeria politics, kingship stool is going the same direction.
The politicians have desecrated the stools. Lagos Ọba is a good example. Dem no born Seyi Tinubu and his lineage well to touch the last Ọba of Lagos that way, and not only do that, but to then post the picture online so we can all see. They know what they are doing. It's soft power to show who is in charge. They have bought all the institutions to challenge them, judiciary, legislature and NGOs. Weaken the Ọba who is not supposed to be partisan so he can support them for election. Clowns in power. Weak men who can't face the electoral population to test their work. Clowns in Agbada and Babariga. Puppets of the colonialsts who first destroyed our traditional system and they continued the legacy.

There's only a limited amount of time you can pretend to be who you are not. Those who have collected bribes and money to descreate the stools and the professions they stand for will show themselves in due time because you can't give what you don't have. We know those who use their left hands to point to their father's houses.

Politics › Re: Makinde To Osinbajo: I Miss You As VP, Things Are Not The Same by SixSeven:
2027 politics has started. Let's watch and see. APC is an association of strange bedfellows and if power and sycophants converge, they will sabotage themselves. It's just a matter of time. With the benefit of hindsight, we can now see that APC was only interested in power, not governance. Buhari showed the first sign, now Tinubu is continuing from where he stopped. Man was only interested in calculations and winning. That's why they don't respect PDP. The only power of this man is MONEY, and he knows if he can buy you, you'll sing for him. This is why they can easily buy the PDP politicians. He also does not do things for free. During campaign, many of those who supported him said "I want him because he did XYZ for my family". I then wondered, how low can we get if a public officer can now become a charity home. But am I surprised? He has shown it again now in power because they have brought in bambiala politics to Nigeria so just beg and beg, who statistics epp? Who cares about principles? What's morals? Morals ko, morale ni!

If you doubt me, look at the statement the APC Chairman made recently:
APC Chairman Declares: Once Appointed, You Are a Politician, Not a Technocrat

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocjp_b3-X0k

Does this confirm to you that APC only cares about politics? Tinubu only cares about politics that's why he has been disastrous in governance. That's why you see so many appointments reversed or they recall press releases. He has surrounded himself with yes men. Men whose survival is based on satisfying his ego. You can not succeed with such people. As bad as Obasanjo was, he knew the time for politics and the time for governance and you saw it when he did cabinet reshuffles too.

Read the APC chairman's words:
“In 2027, as the party chairman, I will stand strong to defend the position that if you are not prepared to join us, you should not be given appointments,” he said.

“We encourage and support the members of the political party to be in a position.
"If you are a technocrat, go and be a consultant but not take political appointments and not go back to support the party that brought you to power.

“If all of the appointees decided to become technocrats, the party will never return back to power. So, there is nothing like technocrats.

Them no born PDP well to issue this kind of statement 15 years ago, all hell would be let loose by the hypocrites calling themselves progressive democrats. They were so fine at criticizing but they don't want it now. You can see it with their minions here. They can't encourage any discussion, it's all attack. They defend their party with all their sweat because they are cheap. They have been bought. Men without principles. Party first, country later.

Now read all the above and think of how it is connected to Osinbajo who we know is a technocrat. Analysts said it would have made sense if Osinbajo contested but the so-called Kingmaker said he will contest and the 'boy' is a betrayer. But this is a man that they claim built people, he built Lagos. They only deceive themselves when it is convenient. They claimed they need a strong man to deal with the North 🤡 They are full of propaganda. It's all selfishness, none of them care about the nation. That's why the man can come in and change our national anthem and things that bring us together. The guy declared state of emergency all for POLITICS. I am so happy to see a Tinubu as president. All their mystics have been demystified!

Your number 4 is not correct. It's like saying because the senators and reps left LP, Obi's influence has reduced or PDP has no more power because governors decamped. From 2015 to 2023, I disliked APC, Buhari and Tinubu.
But it does look like something good is coming out of APC's Nazareth which will make all Nigerians to jail and praise them after 2027.
I don't blame GEJ for chickening out, in hindsight the weak man now looks strong. We have to give it to APC's strong propaganda machine that made him look so incompetent more than it seemed. Because they knew how powerful propaganda was, they weakened the press, the 4th estate of the realm. I enjoyed APC as opposition because they put pressure on PDP but PDP never had a crisis management if they lost. They only had crisis management if they fought with the likes of Mr Fix It and other elders. PDP managed Nigeria's diversity far far better than APC. Buhari already set the roadmap for Tinubu and true true, Tinubu is only continuing from where he stopped. It's a party that only came to power to defeat PDP and once they achieved that, you can see the cracks in the wall of CPC, nPDP, ACN and APGA alliances. That's why I'm not worried about the Governors moving to APC. That house cannot size them well, they are all moving for power and they will soon quarrel. It's only a matter of time.

All parties have failed because none of them have what they stand for, it's all power and politics, nothing to say this is what party A stands for and party B. Until we get to that stage, I don't bother myself with all of them. They are cut from the same cloth, they only have different designers. In fact, Tinubu's coming is a good thing to test our politicians and for me, it will only get worse before it gets better.

It's funny how they all of a sudden are referring to you as SIR because of the giveaway but when there is nothing at stake, they can insult your father. This is a very interesting social experiment. I am watching.

OP what course did you read in school? Because you seem to be ashamed of this car wash job and I can't understand why. I don't think you are using your education well. Your mind has been programmed that's why you think it's menial.

David too should be careful and not get caught in up in controversies like this.

The only thing that just caught my attention in the video was when his dad said samples for DNA PATERNITY TESTS are sent to South Africa.
It's very shameful and pathetic!
As big as Nigeria is with thousands of professors and scientists. Even with numerous hospitals and research institutes, we can't have a fully functional places for ORDINARY DNA PATERNITY TESTS!?
We do but that private hospital chose to send theirs to South Africa because they don't do DNA. They could have chosen to send to DNA centers in Nigeria but Na SA dem go so I won't blame Nigeria, na person wey carry matter go private hospital I go ask. I won't be surprised if it's their Indian brothers who ran the test. We can condemn ourselves bad bash Nigeria but we must also choose what we want from the country, whether we love it or not.

Nigeria happened to the guy. If it were a functional state, the police can carry out autopsy within days and let him off the hook if found innocent. But nay!
Make una take am easy on this Nigeria sef. Na Nigeria say make e run? Maybe you should read the story. Autopsy or not, a guilty mind fears no accusation. How did you miss this:

However, the man reportedly fled the hospital shortly after the doctors pronounced her dead and has remained unreachable since the incident.
Do you think the police will not conduct autopsy as part of their investigationhuh Why rush to blame Nigeria? May Nigeria bless you.

To start with, I don't belong to any party but criticize and commend as and when necessary
However, I have my preferences as to who becomes the president and who doesn't.
That's good to know. I don't belong to any party as well, I am a political observer. Do I have a candidate as an observer? Oh yes. Anyway I am happy APC got power they wanted badly, at least we can see the best they have to offer. Especially Buhari. Because if he didn't get there, it would have been a story of a messiah who was never given the chance to but do Nigerians learn from history? No. They repeat the same mistakes. I thought Yar'Adua chapter would have taught us some sense but we got comfortable with the Presidency being a health care benefit for the occupant.
