Op. You are their enemy for posting this . Nigerians are living in fantasy world, whenever am working at my hatchery in Nigeria , you will see all of them saying " guy you go Yankee finish come come Nigeria say na fish you wan de pursue up and down" I look at them and laugh because oil, yahoo, and political stealing have frozen their brain. Some will say there is no loan as if they don't have even a plot in their village. My mom, a single mother raised our eldest brother and sent him to UNN, where he got accounting degree, she did that using the proceeds of just one plot of land she had that is very fertile. And what did he do after graduation? He leased out the land for 35k, I just got it back last month.

Moral of my story? You are right they are lazy. Humble beginning is not in their dictionary, they have replaced it with the word "hammer" .

Normally, I don't reply to this kind of posts but let me quickly correct the impression of most 'returnee' like you do have about Nigerians that we are lazy...that's a fallacy of 'hasty generalization' even in America we have lazy people does that justify concluding American people are lazy?

By the way, what did your mum grow on one plot of land to send your brother to University because the most lucrative cash crops I know is cocoa and I'm sure one plot of cocoa cannot give you a profit of #100,000 per year.

They all have different capacities but irrespective of the capacities. You will need;
- processing shed
- diesel generator
- oilpalm sterilizers,
- oil palm fruit screen,

- oilpalm pressing machine,
- palm oil clarifier

Back to the main discussion. To save time I will like to jump various operations needed for the oilpalm plantation since our focus is on the costs an returns analysis

You will need a total amount of 1,200,000 to cover both the planting materials and labour cost for the 10 Hectares

A total amount of 1,100,0000 will be needed to maintain the oilpalm plantation yearly until the 5th year when the leaves will have form enough canopy to reduce the weed growth.

Approximately 850,000 will be needed after the fourth year to maintain the farm


The harvesting cost for the 10 Hectares varies since the oil palm production also varies till the tree will reach full maturity but it range from 15,000 @ first oilpalm fruiting in the 3rd year to as much as 100,000 at maturity. This be properly properly highlighted in a table.

Since our target is just to process palm oil alone...Our oilpalm processing cost also varies annually since our yield is expected to varies. The oilpalm processing costs covers all the materials and manpower needed to process the oilpalm. It ranges from 240,000 in the 3rd year to about 1,600,000 at oilpalm maturity year. This is can also be properly highlighted in a table.

The total capital investment needed for the 10hectares of oilpalm plantation and processing equipments will cost us 2,500,000. The list of equipments, quantity, costs, and depreciation costs will be more proper to be highlighted on a table.

To cut the whole story short......it will costs us a minimum of 3.5million naira in the first year, 2.2million naira in the second year and 2.4million naira in the third year i.e a total amount of 8.1million naira for the 3 years before the project returns can now be sufficient to maintain and process the yield from the farm.
