After I took HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) last year after a potential HIV exposure and which turned out to be successful cos I’ve been negative since then, I’m in another mess again o due to another babe I met not too long. We had something today (protected sex at first which later turned unprotected), and I then suggested we do a test cos I always have test strips in my house. She refused initially, but after my anger, she agreed. But before we even did it, she said she was positive. I thought she was joking o, until I did for both of us in my house, and really, she was positive—2 bands on her strip while my strip had 1 band. My only consolation is that she is on drugs (she said she started her HIV drugs June/July this year immediately after she found out about her status), but I don’t know whether her drugs have kicked in enough to make her have undetectable viral load in her body. Well, I just drove her home to be sure she was really taking the HIV drugs, and she truly showed me her drugs.

To cut the story short, I just asked her for one tablet of her drugs, and I took it right there to start my post-exposure prophylaxis, since it is the same as the PEP drugs. Hopefully, I will properly continue the PEP drug schedule from tomorrow when I go to one private hospital like that and get my own drugs, and I really hope I get the drugs tomorrow o. But no matter what, HIV isn’t a death sentence. Still hoping sha that I am fine in the long run, and I hope I take this as a final lesson. I really need to marry soonest or find someone who I really love for a committed relationship; it reduces the risk for infection if one is faithful. I’ll let you guys know how my experience unfolds tomorrow.

@skripture nice to hear from you been long...how are you guess you are sound.... how about @military how is he fairing...have not heard from him on this forum.....I did check after a year and 8 months in a general hospital everything was negative and God through his mercies has restored my health...Abstinence is better but na God dey guide and protect us sha stay safe everyone

I still don't know how it happened till date and yes, i don't believe what he told me. I deleted the screenshots when he blocked me because where do I start? We weren't all close rather we were strangers on a mission to get a degree, last I heard.... He's currently in Ghana or Cotonou or any other country for his masters. I don't want to have a hate that heavy to weigh me down, let karma take it's cause.

I lost massive weight few weeks after exposure
Still experience mouth sores once in a while. Fatigue and headache is now a norm.
But I'm better than before

Persuade to start medication whilst still healthy

About a year ago, I had a "supposed" exposure to HIV. I had all the symptoms you can think of. I still have some of them till this moment ( recurring mouth ulcers, blurry vision, dizziness and swollen lymph nodes). I tested outside the recommended 6 months periods and it came out negative. The lady i had sex with tested negative also severally. I've been falling sick more after the exposure, so much for someone who rarely get sick. I know i'm immunocompromised as it stands, can anyone recommend any supplements or drugs to boost my immune system?

the odd is very low, just imagine number of people on nairaland alone that had symptoms myself inclusive,that tested negative after 6 months,the thing is supposed to be rear, even some medical experts says is not possible for ur results to change after 6 months, 3months is supposed be the normal time for the result to be definite,to rule all doubt ,they made it 6 months.

Good evening everyone.. For those of us who had symptoms or still having symptoms please let's avoid people at this time because our immune system is compromised already.
On a lighter note, the lady is back from school because of the pandemic, convinced her once more, we went back and forth until she agreed to go for a test and i'm with the result now and it's negative.
I don't know what to make out of all these. still having some symptoms but i'm moving on gradually.

but,i dont think u are postive,because if you are,by now the test should be able to detect it,6months is maximum time for confirmation,i guess u are up to 10months,try to keep ur mind off it,maybe it will help.

At this point in my life, I careless about most of the symptoms I'm having. Even if I test + consequently, it wouldn't even bother me that much.
Just because of sex that didn't even last up to 5 mins, I've been depressed for like 7months now, constantly rummaging the internet for answers, doing countless tests and always feeling.
