God bless you for this counsel

400k is a lot of money in this economy! Live within your means please.

I'm very certain you don't earn up to 400k, if you do, you will know it's a very small chicken change

This is one of the advantages of weak currency. Weak currency increases international when the base country have enough to/for export.

This is one area the Japanese Yen thrives over other currencies while the Chinese manipulates their currency to weaken it and increase trade. This is one of the big problems Donald Trump had with them.

You are the only person that made sense on this thread. Every other person is here blaming tinubu as if Peter obi wouldn't have removed subsidy and unified exchange rate

Nairaland / General / Hurray! Nairaland Is Back! by skultrick(m): 9:33am On Dec 21, 2023
First thing in the morning, I visit naira land for top stories. Its like my daily newspaper.

So 2 days ago, I visited and lo and behold our darling nairaland.com wasn't accessible. I'd thought it was small problem not until I couldn't reach the site the whole day.

I went to twitter to see Seun post an update but what caught my attention is that most of the comments kept calling Seun a bigot.

Well, I'll like to state that nairaland hasn't live up to expectation when it comes to moderation of comments. But then, have you visited Reddit, twitter and even Facebook, what is the difference between the comments there and here?

My point, it's almost impossible to regulate users comments on a large forum as this. Importantly, Seun put a disclaimer that is very clear and visible to all.

Besides, the beauty of this forum is the faceless nature that allows anyone to drop their opinion.

Another issue I want to point out is why is a mighty site like nairaland at the mercy of some jerk

I have a very small site and I do backup every single month. This means if my host wakes up one morning and say get out, my site will be running on another host in max. 30 mins.

I don't know much about servers, but nairaland deserves its own self hosted server.

Nairaland should be independent because depending on a host in a 1st-world country where rule of law is very active is very dangerous.

That's it, I'm happy to see nairaland is back.

You are obviously insane. Gosh! you irritate me.

Since you want to give government money, go to the nearest FIRS office in your state and deposit your foolishness there. Stop disturbing our peace here.

Please don't quote me again, I have no business with mentally deranged individuals like you.

You can't buy a full chicken for N6,500. Unless it died and the owner wanted to sell it off urgently.

The presence of the head, leg and liver shows that it was either slaughtered or it recently just died cos frozen chickens don't come with heads, feet or liver.

Currently, 1 kilo of the smallest chicken lap (4pieces) is 4k. Two kilos would be 8k. This chicken you're claiming to buy for N6,500 is way over 3 kilos.

And if you must know, live broiler is 14k. The biggest size...So either you tell us the story behind how you bought a full chicken for such amount, or you stop lying to our faces.

Most of the people here saying it's a wonderful deal haven't bought chicken in months (or even years) I bought a live chicken 2 weeks ago for 14k with abeg, and bought 2kilos of chicken laps just yesterday. So I know how much these things are sold.

Chicken that I bought right in my neighborhood is what you writing all this long epistle.

By the way, I don’t know where you buy live chicken for 14k. I have never bought chicken for more than 10k, and no matter how big it is, I will not pay for any chicken more than 10k.

Put on a weighing scale. Anything below 2.5-3kg is a total waste of money.

Exactly what I told the guy, he asked to choose and it wasn't easy making a choice. With a scale, it's straightforward and easy.

Sorry about your loss concerning your account with fund, I think what Paypal need is utility bill from Lesotho and we only use our Nigerian ID at first opening of Paypal account, I also submitted NEPA bill for my address verification which was rejected by Paypal since then I have been trying to see if I can get the Lesotho utility bill but there are many scammer looking for who to devour on their hard earn income and also one foolish scammer here on Nairaland scammed " Gasayi" he talk like someone who has good intention but he is a professional scammer. Since then I lost interest in getting utility bill for my Paypal account.

I have not really had the time but any time I decide to open PayPal again, I think the best way to get Lesotho utility bill is by going to Facebook. From FB you can find someone who resides in Lesotho. That’s the best way.

Like how much are the prices there for 1 bedroom? And you have an agents number?

One bed in Karu is 600-800k
2 bed in Karu is 800-1.2m

Another area to try is ushafa, they also enjoy light well.

One bed in ushafa is 600-800k
2 bed in ushafa is 900-1.3m

If you don't mind distance, you can check bwari which is after ushafa.

1bed in bwari is 400-600
2 bed in beari is 800-1m

You also have lugbe which is a bit closer to town. There is one area called chika, there 1bed is around 600-900k.

Inside lugbe, 1bed is 600-1m, 2bed is 1.1 - 2.5m

The bottom line, if you will be leaving in the outskirts which includes karu, lugbe, kubwa, dutse, ushafa and co, just budget 600-900k for one bed and 900 to 1.2m for 2 bed. Also add agency, service charge and legal fee which ranges from 200-300k depending on the rent.

A woman who knows her place and her role “a code of conduct”, acts womanly, being in position for peace always with great understanding, support. She must know the importance of authority, respect and humility, she can cry her to victory if it’s what she needs to win.
Weakness is an attraction just as strength is an attraction for men.

Nothing pisses men off like when she shows strength against her husband instead of the opposite

I rarely comment but I couldn't skip pass this. You said it all. Many homes lack what you just deposited and that's why you seeing divorce everly on the increase, even in our own Africa which makes very worrisome.

And if yes, how do you pass through the problem? I am in similar challenges

I went to uba and generated statement for my dorm account, I was believing that since they have branches in other countries it would help but it didn't.

Pay Pal still went ahead and close the account.

Stop listening to that guy he's one of the tinubu praise singers who talk without logic.

The first mistake was tinubu floating the naira for a country that's so dependent on importation.

The rebound you seeing right now is also fueled by fear, people are offloading their dollars only for one big man to mop it all up.

I have traded forex and individuals like you and me don't move the market even in our hundreds of thousands. One big man can mop it all up and determine the price.

So, unless you urgently need money now, sell. Otherwise wait, naira is no match for dollar.

I wound have gained 220k if dollar remained at 1250 but I sold both to aboki and p2p for 1050, and that was because I needed funds urgently. If I were you I wouldn't sell the dollar. Leave it, it will take time but will still rise. Even if it doesn't get to 1300, it will reduce your losses.

I'm trying to understand what laptop you comfortably bought for 1 million naira only to come on nairaland to lament about spending 160K on generator usage monthly.

Sounds like you have the tendency to be wasteful when you can have same satisfaction from spending lesser on alternatives.

My system cost me 370K. I don't own a generator. I have a solar power pack I ordered from New Jersey at a cumulative cost of 175K. It's charged with electricity as well and can keep my gadgets and system powered for 80 hours before the next charge.

I also have a mini solar installation done at 160K that enables me use two fans and bulbs and when electricity comes on, I use my AC.

Everything listed here didn't even cost me up to the amount you wasted to buy a laptop. Sometimes you have to plan according to economic realities.

Please what's the name of the solar power pack you bought for 175k? I really need to invest in one. Thanks for the reply.
