In fact you could be charged with medical negligence if you don’t. It is within your authority to transport them to the facility for restrictions . A peace officer can also be involved to facilitate the transfer. Then the facility will evaluate the patient, and proceed with obtaining the necessary court order, if they determine that the person needs continued treatment.
No court anywhere in the world will give you an order without a physician recommendation. Also, no physician will write a recommendation without first seeing the patient. These are the sequences to institutionalized a person. Court works with evidence. If it wasn’t so, anyone could just walk into the court and obtain and declare that his enemy is incompetent.
