Na so Road Safety dey chase me one day like that , before I got to an intersection, I internationally slowed down for them to think that they were catching up . Then, I put my indicator like I was making the right turn . They quickly overtook and blocked the right road. I just gently made the left turn and continue on my way.
Before they could make a U-turn , it was obvious they were still wondering what just happened .

I noticed bank robbery has completely ended recently, in the last 7 years i never hear or read about bank robbery. na all dis yeye robbery dey happen now. I wonder why.

My own experience looking for quality brand shoes in Nigeria .
So, I decided I would spend between #500k - #800k ($350~ 600) for a pair of good quality men shoes last month. I had about five brand names in mind. Those were Gucci, Masarrati, Mauri, Ferragamo or Versace. Fendi was optional.

The first boutique I went to in ikeja was filled with fake Chinese junks . For free, I won’t even touch any of their shoes. The highest was about #150k. Disappointed, I left the place. And they had told me that place was the best.

Then I was directed to Mandalas in Lagos Island. Honestly, it wasn’t different from the first experience. Warehouses filled with Chinese knock offs. Fake pvc leathers. Fake animal skin prints to look like original. Not even one pair of Italian made, let alone a brand name. . I left. Their highest prices was about #100k . I did some off the hand calculations and for that price they were just about $60. Nowhere in hell would original Italian leather be that cheap!

My next stop was at Broad Street Lagos Island. I was determined to get original shoes. Rows of fancy looking shops with glass windows and doors to showcase the wares. I walked in the first. There they brought their best. I wasn’t surprised this time. Same fake but well packaged and priced. They were going for about #150- 200k, with labels of designers names. I saw Gucci, Fendi, Ferragamo etc. All looking like the real stuff but I can’t be deceived. If not for anything, not at the price. Original ones of those brands cost much more. In fact I could tell from the thread lines and finishing that those were fake.

Finally. I decided to stop looking because it was obvious everyone was selling knock offs. In fact, one of the shop owners told me plainly that most people cannot afford and are not willing to spend that much on a pair of shoes. That is why they don’t sell Italian name brands shoes.

Now , my question is, what luxury or premium goods is the writer talking about? Houses that are finished with fake Chinese hardware like tiles, doors bath and toilets and lighting fixtures. Let’s not even talk about clothings and electronics.
Or is it the old cars that are being dumped everywhere. You hardly see many good luxury SUV other than Toyota. Escalades, BMW , Porsche, GMC , Tahoes, the 2026 model are hardly seen on the roads.
What exactly has premium quality in Nigeria? Nothing! The credit system and purchasing power of most Nigerians is too low for world class quality.
