Politics / IPMAN Threatens To Increase Petrol To N160 Per Litre by skymobilemedia: 7:42am On Dec 03, 2017
The Ore depot branch of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has threatened to increase petrol price from the approved price of N145 to about N160 per litre.

The chairman of the branch, Shina Amoo, who said this in an interview with our correspondent in Ile Ife on Saturday, explained that marketers in some states in the South-West would not have to increase petrol price because Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria had increased the price of fuel sold to marketers by N16.

Amoo pointed out that such action would push petrol price to about N160 per litre. He noted that though the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation did not increase the price they supplied the product to private depot owners, the latter had chosen to sell the product to marketers at N144 per litre.

He said, “We want members of the public to know that we can no longer continue to sell fuel at the government approved price. The private depot owners sell a litre to us at a price between N142 and N144 per litre, which should be sold at N133.28. They got the product from the NNPC at N117 per litre.

“We will transport the product from the depots to our various stations and pay workers as well as incur other expenses. So, how will anybody expect us to continue to sell fuel to consumers below the cost price? It is not possible. We will have to increase fuel price to about N160 per litre.”

Amoo, therefore, appealed to the NNPC to expedite action on the Ore depot so that marketers in Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states would be able to lift petroleum products directly from the depot.

Recently, the Lagos State branch of IPMAN had threatened to embark on an indefinite strike beginning from December 11 because of the alleged breach of the bulk purchase agreement to sell fuel to them at N133.28k per litre by the NNPC.

Health / Cleaner Lagos Initiative Set To Launch In December by skymobilemedia: 9:50am On Nov 12, 2017
Have you heard about the Cleaner Lagos Initiative? This is a new scheme... to CHANGE the way in which Lagos manages its waste. One of the key components is a Community Sanitation Worker Scheme which ensures that all roads in the state are swept daily.

As the Cleaner Lagos Initiative prepares to launch in
December 2017, 27,500 Community Sanitation Workers
employed by the Lagos State Government will sweep the
streets of Lagos to ensure a clean environment for all.
These Community Sanitation Workers are currently
undergoing training, registration, and sizing for their new
outfits at Agidingbi, Ikeja. They will earn a tax-free income
above minimum wage along with health subsidy, pension
and other benefits.

Their daily sweeping activities will be complemented by
mechanized sweepers who will clean busy roads and major highways in Lagos state in the middle of the night to prevent loss of life and other casualties.

According to the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry
of the Environment, Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare, “the
Cleaner Lagos Initiative was framed with the aim of
creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs for
Lagosians, and will bring poverty alleviation to the people
of Lagos state.”

As the Cleaner Lagos Initiative rolls out in the coming
months, Lagosians should expect to see an improved
waste collection system, bin placements in houses across
Lagos state, and a marked decrease in illegal dumpsites.

TSTV... To much talks.... No action.

Is it that they didn't have a clear plan or were they only trying to sample our opinion on pay TV, or they didn't envisage obstacles and challenges?

Abeg, if selling the decoder at 10k will make it a reality, pls do. Don't know how long we'll wait for this.

They have promised to start selling their decoders commercially by November 1, that's just a little over 1 week from now. Let's just chill and wait for them
TV/Movies / Why Nigerians Must Not Allow TSTV To Die - Vanguard Report by skymobilemedia: 5:38am On Oct 17, 2017
Nigeria is a country blessed with so much human and natural resources, the country has always been a shining light in almost every endeavor possible in Africa and the world at large. In Nigeria, the unfavourable socio-economic system has made it very difficult for indigenous companies, entrepreneurs and start-ups to excel to the fullest of their potential. There has been insinuations that foreign investors fare better in Nigeria compared to the home based companies. This may look like a fact but we have to examine the root cause of this ugly report. For instance, in early 2007, an indigenous satellite TV company, HiTV came into existence to compete with the South African based cable company. To an average dish and decoder owner, they are more concerned with that company that can offer them value for their money. HiTV started very well in competition with the popular company, offering same quality services with lesser prices, but what many cannot explain was how HiTV folded up within a few years of its existence. There were rumours that the owner took some loans from banks to run the business but he could not pay back. This was certainly not the case, it was a mere propaganda and trick played to set the Nigerian people against the company and its owners. Further digging has revealed that the company was sabotaged by the popular cable company in connivance with some top management officials of the bank where HiTV took several millions of Naira to run the business. Few months ago, news broke that another premium and quality Dish and Decoder company called TSTV entered the market to compete with others but with cheaper subscriptions. TSTV enjoyed massive media attention, they also enjoyed massive sympathy from Nigerians because of their promise to offer better services with less fees. TSTV announced that they will be launching on October 1st, promising to give out over 5,000 free decoders, and naturally the company will produce over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs within few months of operation. Surprisingly, rumours started flying around that some powerful people who have interests in existing popular cable company were threatening TSTV. This news angered Nigerians and several people took to social media to air their opinions. The pressure made the alleged conspirators to pipe low. Nigerians began to ask why any sane person will want to stop or destroy a company capable of offering quality service with less amount in favour of those ripping off citizens? Why should anyone want to stop the existence of a company capable of producing tens of thousands jobs for the unemployed skilled and unskilled people. Since the plan to stop TSTV launch failed, the conspirators with popular the cable TV are reportedly making another dangerous move against TSTV which will have a negative impact on the Nigerian economy and affect the already excited potential subscribers. It was gathered that a certain cable TV company went behind to contact the stations TSTV had already signed contracts with and allegedly paid them 5 million dollars to cancel those airing contracts with TSTV. At as the time of this report, it was gathered that fifteen TV stations have cancelled their contracts with TSTV. Nigerians should not fold their arms and allow foreigners destroy our own indigenous companies, with the connivance of some saboteurs who are in the corridors of power. TSTV has promised to introduce pay per view which should be the normal practice to the advantage of subscribers but existing cable TV which has been ripping Nigerians off for decades, is hell bent on sabotaging them to continue to exploit Nigerians. It is about time Nigerians speak up, and prevail on government to support TSTV’s stay and existence in Nigeria. If we all allow those in the business to kill TSTV the same way they killed HiTV, many to our graduates who are potential employees of TSTV will remain unemployed, the existing cable TV will continue to cheat and rip Nigerians off. Nigerians should only pay for services enjoyed and not be subjected to the forceful monopoly.

Sports / LMC Launches ‘largest’ Lotto For The NPFL by skymobilemedia: 7:03pm On Aug 08, 2017
Nigerian Professional Football League Launches New
Lottery with Highest Jackpot in Africa
The lotto, due to be live later this month, has jackpots larger
than every lottery in Nigeria combined, and the biggest
available anywhere in Africa

A brand new lotto with a minimum jackpot close to a billion
naira is to be launched in support of the Nigeria Professional
Football League, NPFL, clubs by the League Management
Company, LMC, in partnership with British-based Ofertas365.
The lotto, due to be live later this month, has jackpots larger
than every lottery in Nigeria combined, and the biggest
available anywhere in Africa!

All 20 NPFL clubs are to be branded with their own page on
www.AfroMillionsLotto.com where people can buy tickets
online for the twice-weekly draws, as well as enjoy a range of
Instant Win games offering big-money prizes.
The benefit for the clubs is that each will receive a percentage
of the revenue raised from their lottery site to increase income
to fund player development, support stadium and pitch
improvements as well as community-based projects.
The LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, described
AfroMillionsLotto as one of the most exciting commercial
developments in club football in Nigeria in recent times and
suggested that it would positively impact football financing
extensively.
Mr. Dikko said, “The LMC bought into this partnership
because of its realistic potential to revolutionise our clubs’
commercial operations, thanks to the money lotto will bring
in. Lotto has proven to be extremely successful with English
Premier League clubs and we hope to replicate its success here
in Nigeria.”
In his own comments, James Leppard, CEO of Ofertas365,
said, “We are delighted to work with Africa’s largest and most
prestigious football league in launching AfroMillionsLotto,
which will offer players, whether they are football fans or not,
the ability to win truly life-changing jackpots.”
