oyatz: Yeah I also think they should be but just that I haven't met many.
While in the secondary School, I tried to learn Igbo language by volunteering to teach Obinna (who just cane from Anambra to join us in JSS-2) Yoruba language during break time in exchange for him teaching me Igbo.
After a week, Obinna stopped teaching me with the filmsy excuse that the language is too hard for non-natives to easily understand. I tried learning it from the numerous Igbo guys around me but they will just be smiling at me. Later on, someone just told me that Igbo men don't like non-natives to learn and understand their language. I later found out that this is only true with the older men but the younger ones don't mind, the problem is that most of the younger ones (born and brought up in Lagos) don't fully understand the language themselves.
Many years later, I started learning the language from my Ex-GF during NYSC in Yobe State because of the possibility that we may marry each other. Igbo language is very easy to understand, Obinna was wrong, or maybe he saw you were not making much progress. Another thing I am thinking of is, are you sure some tribes learn other languages faster than some people? Because the way Igbo boys start speaking other languages within weeks of arriving there is amazing. |

godfatherx: Wrong! We shouldn't always criticize the police negatively, let's applaud them when they get it right.
Armed robbers caught in the act, need no reform, they should go to heaven. Besides, the Nigerian Prison system cannot reform anyone.
If the police had not killed them, the headlines would have been, armed robbers kill policemen at Lekki.
It is what is it, no time to check time. Supposing you are innocent and sleeping in your house and the armed boys try to kidnap you as they are fleeing so that they can force you make withdrawals or use you as a human shield, Do you support that the police should open fire on both you and the robbers at the same time? |

I have only seen 3 Non-Igbo Nigerians that can speak Igbo language fluently. They are many. Most of them lived in Onitsha and schooled in Igbo schools and are friends with Igbos. |

Nigerian police must change their training methods. They still have the civil war mentality where all they think is kill kill kill every minute.
Supposing these are young men driven out by hunger and are robbing for the first time?
Can we not arrest, prosecute and reform their lives to give them a second chance in life?
What about the possibility of arresting their trainers, sponsors and cohorts and arms suppliers if there are any? You ruin your investigative assets when you kill the suspects without giving them chance to confess. |

Goddyj: Igbos are the only people that declare their tribe even before you enquire about it, anywhere they find themselves.
I've traveled to many countries of the world, and I can tell you that there are many people in many countries who don't know anything about Nigeria, but they know many things about Igbos.
I remember discussing with a lady in a German restaurant. When she asked me where I came from, I told her I'm from Nigeria and she said 'ok'.
We continued our discussion on a normal level until when my phone rang, I picked the call, it was from Mom, and I had to talk in my language.
When I finished talking with mom on phone, the lady asked me 'what language is that, I thought you said you're from Nigeria?'
'That's Igbo language. I'm from Igbo' I told her. Immediately she jumped up with great excitement and gave me a hug that lasted for over five seconds.
It was then she started telling me stories she had heard over the years about the Igbos. She never really bothered to know from which country the Igbos come from. All she had ever known is that the Igbos are great people. Igbos are great people, that's why people like Arrewa and the OP are crying daily about their inability to become Igbos. |

You this old man trying to bad talk other innocent people while using an Igbo sounding moniker, be aware that we all know you are not an Igbo person but just trying to be mischievous.
Don't think you can fool anyone but yourself.
Be bold enough to use your native identify instead of hiding behind another tribe in your legendary cowardice.
