80% of first class, second class upper applicants failed NNPC exam - GMD | Print | E-mail Written by Gbola Subair, Abuja Tuesday, 16 August 2011 The just concluded recruitment examination conducted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) recorded abysmal failure as 80 per cent of the applicants, who were mainly first class and second class upper graduates, failed the examination. Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr Austen Oniwon, disclosed this on Monaday while declaring open the 9th NNPC National Quiz Competition in Abuja Oniwon, who disclosed that the NNPC was currently carrying out a recruitment exercise, stated that the result of the recruitment examination was not as good as expected as 80 per cent of the so-called first class and second class upper graduates scored less than 20 per cent. Represented by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, the NNPC boss disclosed that this abysmal record did not only heighten the NNPC management’s apprehension about the lack of functionality of our education format but goes a long way to underscore the need to shift focus away from mere paper qualification. Disclosing that it would no longer be business as usual in the NNPC, the Group Managing Director said reliance on people to secure employment in the organisation was now a thing of the past stressing that the NNPC now placed emphasis on brilliance. Apart from the NNPC examination, the GMD said the recently recorded nationwide mass failure of candidates in WAEC and NECO exams made the call for the urgent review of our school system more pertinent. He said only a functional education that is skilled-based, that adds value to the nation’s economy and takes into consideration the skill-gap that exists in our nation today is ideal for Nigeria of today. http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/26695-80-of-first-class-second-class-upper-applicants-failed-nnpc-exam-gmd |

no be only iboland the foolish marauding blood sucking fulanis dey attack, read the tribune story below Fulani herdsmen sack Benue communities, kill 25 | Print | E-mail Written by Johnson Babajide, Makurdi Wednesday, 22 June 2011 TWENTY-FIVE persons, among them an army officer, identified as Lieu-tenant Chinedu Anyanwu, were feared dead in a renewed three days of sustained attacks by armed herdsmen on villages and towns in the border communities of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. Also, a soldier, including several persons, had been declared missing, while thousands of displaced persons now lived in camps far away from their homes to avoid attacks by the herdsmen. Nigerian Tribune learnt that the invading herdsmen also burnt down more than 1,000 home-steads in close to 100 compounds in the affected area, close to Udei town, the largest settlement in the area. Disturbed by the recent attack, the lawmaker representing the constitu-ency, Honourable David Iorhemba, had raised a motion of urgent important at the state House of Assembly, stating that more than 34 persons had been killed by the Fulani herdsmen in a raid. Hundreds of displaced persons lived in camps situated at Ortese, Daudu and Yelwetta, where the State Emergency Mana-gement Agency (SEMA) had provided relief mate-rials and health care service to them. An eyewitness, Maureen Tar, who had fled with her children to Makurdi to stay with relatives, told the Nigerian Tribune that the Fulani herdsmen travelled on horseback to get to the villages, where they unleashed terror on them. The state deputy gover-nor, Steven Lawani, while addresing newsmen after his visit to the troubled areas, said the state government would not condone any breach of peace, adding that gover-nors of Nasarawa and Benue states were expected to meet on Friday, to discuss the issue. Chief Lawani confirmed the killing of the army officer, adding that the state government had constituted a committee of enquiry into the Fulani/Tiv crisis in Guma Local Government Area of the state. |

yes, the faster i drive, the more the sound increases. also i feel a small throbbing/vibration in the accelerator and brake pedal when am speeding and its as if its in sync with the roaring noise, wch am complaining abt |
@siena, am not so sure that recording the sound wud help/be conclusive hv had the car for about 3yrs now, so i know every lil squeak or sound she makes, hv had some1 drive in the car, and he said he doesnt see any thing bad about the sound!, but i know my car, so i know that the sound has changed, its sounding somewhat like u gat a small hole/leak in ur exhaust system, n its only pronounced at high revs. like 4 months ago when i went for routine checks in toyota place [the sound hasnt started by then], the technician gave me a bill of 150k, for changing the front bearings and back shock, said they were bad, am wondering if there is a way of checking the bearings myself, note its a 4wd, so the jacking up and rotating the wheels thingy wudnt work, n i dont hv the jack for that particular ops siena, u cud post ur comments here, dont wanna derail this posters thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-713213.0.html#msg8715096 |
bearings or engine probs?, what do you think |
its a toyota 2002 rav 4,auto, 4wd, 2,0ltr engine, prior to that noticed that the clips of the air intake box was broken and the air intake box had a slight opening at the side through wch air was entering the engine, i was happy when i saw that, thinking that it was the cause, but alas, after fixing the clips, the noise is still there! |
nice thread, siena! i hv noticed a change in my engine sound, as high speeds above 50mph, the engine roars louder and harsher than it normally does, what do u think cud be wrong? i change the oil every 2500miles, so i dont think its oil |
why dont u guys send ur request to cretin?.he mailed my vin report to me very fast, and his fee is just peanut, saved me 4rm waiting and waiting and pleading for a free vin report. see his thread below https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-655107.0.html |

the country shud be split, funny thing is, once splitting has started, we might end up with 6 or 8 countries.splitting along the civil war lines wont work anymore, 1. the five SE states will remain as one, major problem is, they will be landlocked! 2. rivers/criver/akwaibom, will want to go their way, prolly rivers and bayelsa one country, then akwaibom and cross river, anoda country. 3. the sw states will remain as one. 4. the north will prolly split into 2, core north and middle belt. the americans hv prophesied that it will happen b4 2015, am watching and waitnt. sudan has been able to split into 2 countries succesfully.i hope nigeria shud be next. t |
