Corruption has led to a Nation that is crippled in terms of basic infrastructure. With the huge potential in terms of Human Resources this country boast of its a pity the way things are going. But u know what the scary part is? What if this is just the beginning? Gradually we the people of this nation have exchanged our talents, genius, creativity for all kinds of instant gratifications all in the name of hard times. The word VALUES does not exist in the Nigerian dictionary, not to talk of moralty. If all this has happened during the period of the oil boom, what will happen if the current recession hits oil prices into the dark ages? When government has no option but mass retrenchement? Factories and companies close down? Dealing with fraud is something Nigerians dont want to deal with, because theres no instant gratification. To solve the problem you have to get personal, be determined and unflinching. When your dumb, jobless friend shows up at your house in a Bentley coupe, its not time to ask him to declare a celebration but time for him to give an account, and call a thief a theif, |
Its safe to say Nigeria is just at the start of the web lifestyle development cycle from all intents. The web lifestyle basically is about connectivity and the power of information everywhere and in everything. It can be said that our stunted development in terms of web development/application is as a result of the huge decay of supporting infrastructure from which this field grows. We are talking about such issues as:
[li]Absence of steady source of Mains power[/li] [li]High cost of Internet connectivity, which ironically is delivered in most cases in spurts and burst and branded as broadband![/li] [li]Lack of a decent database for national identification purposes (The national id card was a ray of hope but alas, )[/li][li]A poor support structure for grooming human resources[/li] Should i go on?
As we begin to overcome these obstacles there is bound to be an acceleration in the development process and a geometric increase in usage of the developed applications, as more and more Nigerians begin to wake up to the potentials this technology offers. Personally i believe that the power of the web and the ingenuity of the brilliant minds in this great nation is about to change the way a lot of things happen in this nation, and thats just the starting point, As many as believed in Him HE gave the power to become the Sons of GOD, Accept Christ today, the next moment may be too late! |
