Determined to ensure that Nigerian youths explore the
opportunities that abound in the information, Communication
and technology sector, Ogun state governor, Ibikunle
Amosun has commissioned the Gateway ICT Polytechnic
apps development centre.
The centre which focuses in software and mobile application
developments was commissioned at the 2nd Convocation
Ceremony of the institution.
Representing the governor, Commissioner for Education,
Modupe Mujota said the government will work to ensure the
institution partners with global players on sustainable
development in apps development.
Her words " I am looking forward to a lot of creativity, we
are also going to be trying to connect the school with global
players, who knows the likes of Google and a lot may take a
look at what we are doing here, but indeed is a great work"
Speaking on what necessitated the centre, Rector Gateway
ICT Polytechnic, Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka said the aim is to train
undergraduates that will be independent, imbibe the
entrepreneurial spirit and be self-sustaining in a country that
is relatively dependent on oil.
His words, "not only that we will train people on apps
development, we will also do technology incubation, we will
nourish their company to grow before we release them to
the society. We took the cue from places like America where
they incubate their technology and that is why you see great
things coming forward from such a place.
Dr. Oyeyinka said the polytechnic is committed to continue
in its determination to provide qualitative programmes in
Engineering, Science and Technology, ICT within the
mandate of the National Policy on Education and subject to
regulations of the National Board for Technical Education.

Christine Lampard has finally given birth to her first child with
her ex-footballer husband Frank Lampard.
The TV presenter, 39, and the sports pundit, 40, welcomed a
baby girl named Patricia Charlotte , after his late mother.
Christine announced the happy news via her Instagram page
on Friday morning by sharing a cute snap which shows her
cradling the new born child in her hospital bed, while Frank
stood above her.
She wrote: 'Let us introduce you to our little girl. Patricia
Charlotte Lampard! We’re so in love @franklampard'.
The new addition is the couple's first child together, Frank has
daughters Luna , 13, and Isla , 11, with his former fiancée,

A Nigerian wedding decided to deviate from
the norm of jollof rice and chicken as its
delicacy by serving an unconventional meal
of Garri and fried fish.
The wedding guests were treated to a special
meal of Garri soaked in water (not eba) and
fried fish to accompany it.

Many of students are night sparrows, who can spend hours over the night without blinking an eye ball.

Few only do the right thing over the nights. While others are reading, some are watching films, playing games,go clubbing and others screaching nothing.

It could be fewv days to the theirbpresent semester examination and some don't even have an iota of knowledge of their academics.

Chaos has erupted in Rumuokoro roundabout in
Obio-Akpor Local government area of Rivers
State following the killing of a taxi driver by a
trigger-happy policeman.

The Policeman attached to a detachment of
officers escorting a Petrol Tanker reportedly
shot dead the unnamed driver for obstructing
their movement.

It was gathered that passengers were in
the cab when the unfortunate incident occurred
but none of the passengers was injured.
Eyewitnesses say the cab drivers plying the
Rumuokoro axis and motor-park touts
regrouped immediately after the incident.

Other commercial drivers and motor park touts
responded by blocking all roads connecting
Rumuokoro roundabout and threatening to
unleash violence.

One of the eyewitnesses say the touts stopped
Police officers reinforced from Rumuokoro
Divisional Police Station from evacuating the
body of the slain driver.
Another eyewitness said the touts started
attacking everyone perceived to be from
Northern Nigeria because they perceived that
the trigger happy officer is a Northerner.

“After they have stopped the police from
carrying the lifeless body of the driver, those
touts started attacking ‘Aboki’ people that are
pushing wheelbarrows. That was why SARS
people came to stop them because they had
started destroying Aboki shops too,” he said.
The development prompted more police
reinforcement from the Anti Kidnapping Unit
and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to quell
possible breakdown of law and order in the
area.

The Rivers State Police Command is yet to
respond to the unfortunate incident.

A whirl wind today wrecked serious havoc on
Ogbe-Udu community in Udu Local Government
Area of Delta State.

Several roofs were blown off with valuable
property worth millions of Naira destroyed as a
result of the heavy downpour in the community
and some parts of the State.

At the time of filing this report, the newly
elected Chairman of Udu Local Government
Council,Chief Jiteh Brown is on ground to
ascertain the level of damage.

Chief Brown who is being flanked by the leader
of Udu Local Government Legislative Arm,Rt.
Hon. Karo Goru and the President General of
Ogbe-Udu Community,Chief Samson Godwin
Okomitete appealed to the people to remain
calm while the government do its part.

Nigerian Army on Friday dismissed as
“misleading” reports indicating that the Boko
Haram factional leader, Abubakar Shekau,
escaped to Cameroon.
Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka, the Director, Army
Public Relations, said in a statement issued in
Maiduguri that the army was not aware of the
whereabouts of the fugitive Boko Haram leader,
Abubakar Shekau.
Kukasheka said that the army was in a
manhunt for Shekau, adding that N3 million
was offered as reward for any credible
information that would lead to his arrest.
“The attention of the Nigerian Army has been
drawn to a news story on some news medium,
alleging that the wanted factional terrorists’
group leader, Abubakar Shekau, is in Kolofata,
Republic of Cameroon.
“The report alleged that a top Boko Haram
commander; Abdullahi Bello, alias Abu Zainab,
who was captured by the Nigerian Army on
February 14, disclosed that Shekau escaped to
Cameroon.
“This is not true; the Nigerian Army did not
arrest such person, neither do we have such
suspect in our custody.
“Contrary to the allegations, the Nigerian Army
is not aware of the whereabouts of Abubakar
Shekau, hence the reward of the sum of N3
million for any credible information on his
whereabouts”, he said.

In spite of repeated workers strike that held
down academic and other activities at the
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology
(LAUTECH), Ogbomoso in the last one year, the
institution has been ranked as the best state
university in Nigeria.
A statement by the institution’s Head of Public
Affairs, Mr Lekan Fadeji, said the latest ranking
by Webometric, which puts the Institution as
14 overall in the country and 3680 in the World,
goes to confirm that despite the
debilitating effect of the industrial crisis,
LAUTECH’s leadership position among its peers
remains unchallenged.
Reacting to the news, the Vice-Chancellor of the
university, Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, reiterated
the commitment of management to ensuring that
the Institution’s present financial position is not
allowed to affect its determination to train
eggheads to man the various technological
spaces of the future.
He added that the Governing Council, led by
Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, has assured that whatever
the university needs to stay on top would be
encouraged.
LAUTECH had in the past been named the
number one state university in Nigeria by various
ranking organizations, including the National
Universities Commission (NUC).
Webometrics ranking of world universities, also
known as Ranking Web of Universities, is a
ranking system for the world’s universities based
on a composite indicator that takes into account
both the volume of the web contents (number of
web pages and files) and the visibility and their
impacts.

Justice Abdulazeez Anka of the Federal High
Court, Lagos has dismissed the N300 million
fundamental right enforcement suit, instituted
by suspected billionaire kidnapper,
Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans.
Justice Anka dismissed the suit for lacking in
merit.
Evans who was arrested on June 10th
2017, filed the suit against the Inspector-
General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris and
three others challenging his arrest and
detention beyond the legally allowed time by
the police. Joined as respondents in the suit
were the Nigerian Police Force (NPF),
Commissioner of Police (COP) Lagos State
and the Lagos State Anti-Robbery Squad
(SARS) as second, third and fourth
respondents respectively.
In the fundamental rights enforcement suit,
Evans, had urged the court for an order
directing the police to charge him to court
immediately or release him on bail. Evans had
also alleged that he was subjected to media
trial during his arrest. Ogungbeje argued that
Evans’ detention since June 10 to 22, 2017
without being charged to court was a violation
of his client’s fundamental rights enshrined in
sections 35 (1) (c) (3) (4) (5) (a) (b) and 36
of the Constitution.
However, the police through its counsel,
Emmanuel Eze, had urged court to
discountenance Evan’s application, and
dismissed same accordingly, for lacking in
merit, as no infraction was committed as
claimed by Evans.
Delivering judgement in the suit, the presiding
judge, Justice Anka ruled that Ogungbeje was
unable to argue his case based on Section 35
and 36 of the constitution. The judge also
ruled that the decision of the police to detain
Evans from June 10, till June 22, 2017, was
reasonable, as the police had told the court
that they had an order to detain him for 90
days.
On the allegation of subjecting the applicant,
Evans, to media trial, the judge stated that
there is no law that can stop the media from
carrying out their constitutional duty.
Consequently, Justice Anka pronounced
Evans’ suit not succeed and dismissed it
accordingly.

A new statue has been erected in Imo State
but this time its not from governor Rochas
Okorocha, rather its the residents of Amucha
who built a statue in honour of their House of
Assembly deputy speaker, Hon. Ugonna
Ozuruigbo.
According to reports reaching GreenMedia Empire, the deputy speaker was
honoured with a statue for his landmark
contributions towards improving the
development landscape of Imo state and
welfare of its people both as a legislator and
in private capacity.

A man has been arrested and charged with
the shooting death of Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne,
21, the cousin of superstar singer Rihanna.
According to the Nation News, 23-year-old
Shawayne Dashawn Williams was charged with
murder in the death of Alleyne during his first
court appearance on Wednesday. Williams was
remanded to prison and will next appear
before in court on Jan. 31.
Alleyne was walking near his home at around
7 p.m. on Dec. 26, when he was approached
by a man who shot him several times before
fleeing the scene, authorities said. Alleyne
was rushed to the hospital before dying of his
injuries.
Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, 21 was killed just a
day after he spent the Christmas day with
Rihanna.
The singer who posted series of photos with
her cousin to mourn him late last year, has
since called for the end of gun violence in the
country.

custody of his late brother's son who he has
named Junior Emmanuel Adebayor.
The 33-year-old, who already has a seven-
year-old daughter called Kendra made the
announcement via his Instagram account.
Sharing a photo of both of them
dining together, he wrote on Instagram:
'Whoever knows me knows my elder brother,
Peter Adebayor who is no longer with us.
'Here is his son and today I declare him as my

elder brother Peter in July 2013, leaving his

Born in Eastern Cape, South Africa, Bettie Bee
was born alongside two other kittens, but her
siblings were normal. It turned out that her
double face made it difficult for her to nurse,
which meant she was at risk of starving to
death as at the time of her birth.
Her owner took it to a nearby cat rescuer who
is known for taking in special needs cats. The
rescuer, started tube-feeding the kitten. She
said she could “feed either mouth, both are
functional, both lead to the stomach.”
Because of the kitten’s uniqueness, the
rescuer started a Facebook page for Bettie
Bee with pictures and updates. The kitten
appears to have a condition called craniofacial
duplication, or diprosopus.
The latest update on the Cat's official
Facebook page reads;
'Bettie Bee is an angel now. I took her
to the Vet to let her go peacefully. I'm
shattered. She was doing great until 2
days ago, she started with pneumonia,
we suspect somehow some milk came
up and went into her lungs, started
with treatment immediately and
thought we were winning until she
vomited (probably nauseous from the
antibiotics or mocus) and got more
milk in her lungs, she was struggling
and I said to myself from the
beginning I would not let her suffer.
For 16 days I gave my all and so did
she, I would do it all over again, she
deserved to have a chance at life but
sadly it was not meant to be. Thank
you so much for everyone's love for
her, kind words, prayers and
encouragement. I will close this page
down in a day or two.
