WhatsApp introduced video calling about five (5) days ago and are rolling it out in stages for android, windows and iPhone users. Your WhatsApp application is supposed to be video call enabled after update but if it isn't, then you have a wait a while as it will soon be available to all phones. This information can be confirmed from a statement made by the WhatsApp administration on the day of the video call launch:

Today we’re excited to announce the next step in our efforts to connect people – WhatsApp video calling. In the coming days, WhatsApp's more than one billion users can make video calls across Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone devices.

But there's no cause for alarm if it isn't yet available to your mobile device, just follow through below and you'd be connecting with friends and loved ones pretty soon.

How to Enable WhatsApp Video Call

Method 1:

Here's how to make a video call within WhatsApp:

- Open WhatsApp (of course!)
- Go to the Contacts tab
- Find and tap the contact you want to initiate a WhatsApp video call with
- Tap on the phone icon towards the top of the screen
- From the popup choose Video call
That's it - you've just made your first WhatsApp video call!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABRBFtWTQLw

Method 2:

Note: This method is only for those who have updated their applications but still cannot access the WhatsApp Video Calling Feature.

- Open Google Play and search for WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp's Google Play listing
- Scroll dow towards the bottom of the page
- In the section that says Become a beta tester tap on I'M IN
- Confirm on the next screen and wait for a few minutes
- Come back to WhatsApp listing page on Google Play
- You should see an option to Update WhatsApp to beta version
- Update the app

Alternatively, you could download the WhatsApp APK that comes with support for video calling (v2.16.354) from a website like APKMirror or APKPure, if you know what you are doing. We advice most of our readers to follow the above-mentioned steps to officially get on the WhatsApp beta version for video calling and other features, and skip the risks associated with downloading the WhatsApp APK.

Note that for WhatsApp video calling to work, both parties should be running a WhatsApp build that supports the feature. WhatsApp may also prompt you for feedback once the video call is over.

Fellow Nairalanders...what do you think about this new feature?

Celebrities / My Opinion: The Positive Side Of Tekno's Next Rated Nomination by Slika: 1:52am On Nov 13, 2016

I've been laughing out my stomach after I read a post on pulse.ng titled "Dear Tekno, You are still an upcoming artiste, accept the Headies Next Rated award". The editorial written by Joey Akan described Tekno as arrogant and disrespectful. Well I decided to write a little something about this. It's pretty brief so please read to the end and tell us your opinion.

Tekno has been in the game for some years now. He had his major breakthrough in professional music when he released "Holiday" with Davido in 2013. That same year he released "Onye Ne Kwu" which was a cover of the IcePrince hit "Oleku". On October 5, 2014, he signed a music contract with Made Men Music Group under which he released singles like "Dance" and "Anything" which won him a nomination in the "Best New act of the Year" category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Tekno also released the hit "Shoki" in that year.

On June 18, 2015, Tekno Miles released a song titled "Duro". I don't need to say much about the track because am sure we all can recall the kind of impact it created in the Nigerian music scene. The single was played massively in clubs, weddings, even on the street and was loved by male and female alike. It topped several charts in Nigeria and on the international scene, it peaked at #5 on Capital XTRA's "Afrobeats Chart: Top 10" for September 2015. In that same year, Tekno still dropped another hit titled "Wash". In 2016, Tekno has also dropped three tracks - Where, Pana and Diana - of which two are hits already.

Why am I running you through all these details? I just want to clear the air on Tekno being an upcoming artist. This guy is a hitmaker irrespective of the fact that he has no albums yet and we all know that in Nigeria we judge popular artists based on their hits.

When Tekno did not get nominated last year for the Headies Next Rated Act, I saw this coming, I could sense trouble because I knew he would definitely get nominated this year. As an artist with over Five Hit Tracks, he is definitely more rated than Reeky who won the next rated award for last year but has not even got a reasonable number of hits yet. Besides, as at the time Reeky got nominated for the next rated act award, he hadn't even released an album yet and barely even had hits.

Any human with feelings would react the way Tekno reacted. Yes, I am justifying him for his action. Tekno was even humble enough to delete the post from his Instagram page a few hours after it was published. Cut the guy some slacks, he didn't say anything against the Headies award, he simply said something in his defence and to boost his celeb morale.

The Positive Side

It goes without saying that Tekno is already the winner in that category. You can see the full list here. Others in this category include: Ycee, Mr Eazi, Humblesmith and Aramide. All these artists are quite popular and sensational but none of them is as promising as Tekno.

Call him stereotyped, upcoming, arrogant, disrespectful, it really doesn't matter. Tekno is 23 and he's getting it. He makes us dance and creates awesome tracks. All that's left now is to await the Headies award night and see if our predictions come true.

Your comments and opinions will be appreciated smiley

Fashion / Would You Buy The New Nike 2016/17 NFF National Team Jersey At N29,000?? by Slika: 7:47am On Nov 10, 2016

I was browsing facebook today when I saw the Nike Football advertisement above promoting the New 'Nike 2016/17 Nigeria NFF Stadium Home Jersey'. The price was not indicated so I clicked to see if I could afford it and be among the first set of people to flex this new jersey. The link took me to Jumia and what I saw was quite shocking. The screenshot below says it all:

So my fellow Nigerians please tell me...will you buy this jersey at the price of N29,000?? Please give reasons for your answer grin grin grin

Romance / 10 Subtle Ways You're Loosing Your Attractiveness by Slika: 4:13pm On Oct 17, 2016
Your level of attractiveness determines how much appeal, desire and interest people have in you. There are many obvious ways of making yourself more appealing and attractive, ways like going to the gym, early morning exercise, push-ups, squats e.t.c but there are also other ways you're neglecting and help is not far away.

Below is a list of a few ways you might not be paying attention to. Read, Examine yourself and Put more effort where necessary.

(This Article Applies to Male and Female Alike)

Not Getting Enough Sleep

People who sleep less look less attractive, more sad, and less healthy. According to the Harvard healthy sleep blog, sleep plays a critical role in immune function, metabolism, memory, learning, and other vital functions. Other vital functions there may include how you face the world each day you don't get enough sleep. Getting your full eight hours of sleep every night ensures you wake up refreshed and ready to face the world every day.

Not Being Nice

No one likes being around a person who is constantly miserable and mean to everyone. The 'No more Mr Nice guy' saying doesn't go along well with your attractiveness and appeal. Putting on a friendly personality draws people closer to you, it makes people more comfortable around you and you're more likely to be picked amongst a long list of other friends when an outing or picnic indecision slides in.

Over-stressing Yourself

It's no secret that a person who is overstressed is most unappealing. You look physically uninviting when you're always stressed out. I know everyone has got to hustle but then set some time aside for chilling. Do it to boost your appeal and for your own well-being.

Not Having a Stand

A people pleaser is an unattractive person. Taking a stand doesn't make you uptight and rigid, No. It adds to your value as a person and that's what makes introverts quite loveable. Your friends and family should understand that there are things you can do and things you wouldn't do no matter how much pressure they put on you. Apart from making you more appealing, it boosts the level of trust and confidence people around you have for you. Yield only when extremely necessary.

No Sense of Humour

It's easier to attract people to yourself when you got a great sense of humour. It makes people around you more relaxed and comfortable. You might have read articles online about women and how to make them like you more, having a great sense of humour is never omitted from such articles (Not even in error). Try to be jovial and be relaxed but while doing so, try not to make it look rehearsed and unnatural and don't forget to crack jokes differently for boys and girls. A little sarcasm might also go a long way. You may actually be surprised as to how funny you are when you can just relax and be true to you.

Being Lazy

There's no faster way to ruin your attractiveness than being lazy. Laziness works hand in hand with motivation. People find it hard to rely on you if you're lazy typically because they feel you can never get anything done in time. So get up and get moving, make a check-list and try to accomplish everything on that list each day, set goals and let people see you accomplish them. People will naturally draw close to someone who is doing something for their life and future. They see such ones as motivations. Life is really beautiful and exciting, but you can’t experience it from a couch!

Body Language

Your body language has a lot to tell about you. It can exhibit quite a few unattractive traits such as weakness, nervousness, insecurity, discomfort and more. The way you sit and stand may come off more unattractive than you realize. For instance, standing with your arms folded can give people the impression that you are closed off and uncomfortable. This alone can make you seem unapproachable.

Over-happiness

It's good to be happy, it actually draws people to you but it gets sour when you're too happy and excited. Personally I don't enjoy speaking with people when they're overjoyed because they tend to lose focus on what am saying or even say things that are not related to the subject matter. Being always overexcited makes the Men unattractive and less appealing but for the women, well, some Men love women who are always filled with live so its a go for the ladies.

Being Dishonest

'Honesty is the best policy' and will always continue to be. To be very honest on this article, I'll frankly tell you that no one really enjoys companionship with a liar. Dishonesty makes you come off as unreliable. It also makes it difficult for people (esp. your companions) to stand up for you when problems arise because they too are not sure about you. Dishonesty is always accompanied by many other negative and displeasing traits that could ruin your attractiveness and make people draw away from you.

Bad Pride

To survive in this era of human existence, a little pride is necessary. However, when pride gets bad it makes you rude, unloving and uptight. The kind of recommended pride is that which will help to bolster up your self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself, the kind of pride that makes you confident when in the midst of people. While more than a little pride could be tolerated from the men, it is a major turn-off when the ladies got this trait.

So there you have it...10 Subtle ways you might be loosing your attractiveness. Examine yourself and put some effort to avert the disaster of being unattractive and unappealing. Got any more ways you feel were not included? Please share with the Nairaland community!
