One Onwe Bernard who reportedly slept with his daughter in Ukwu-Agba community of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has been sanctioned by elders of the community.

Bernard was alleged to have defiled his 13-year-old daughter severally while threating to kill her if she told anybody.

Luck however ran out on him when his wife caught him defiling their daughter in the middle of the night. On sighting Bernard on top of their daughter, she raised the alarm which attracted neighbours and elders of the community.


While recounting her ordeal to the elders of the community, the 13-year-old girl said her father had slept with her severally, adding that he threatened to stab her to death if she told anyone.

The woman believed to be a South African actress – bust for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs worth an estimated R4.6m into the nation at OR Tambo International Airport has appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

Luther Lebelo, SA Revenue Service spokesperson said the woman named Mmatjatji Malatji, appeared in court on Tuesday. The hearing was postponed to October 7 for her bail application.

Malatji will stay in custody until then. She was arrested on Sunday after 15.4kg of ephedrine was found in her bag. She was on a flight from Abu Dhabi.

Ephedrine is used to manufacture crystal methamphetamine or tik.

Whether he is good or not, this is a great move..So Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday distributed rams to Muslims in the state, appealing to them to shun politicians whipping religious sentiment.

A communique signed by the state’s Assistant Secretary, League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Quadri Oguntuase, and two others, had earlier ordered Muslims in the state not to collect rams and other food items for Sallah celebration, if presented to them in any form by the government.

However, the General Secretary of the League, Alhaji Abdulrazak Adenipekun, in a counter-statement ordered Muslims in the state to ignore the ban on Sallah’s gift.

Distributing the rams in Government House, Fayose said he won’t allow himself to be dragged into playing politics with religion in the State.

Fayose urged Muslims to continue to live in harmony and always think of one Nigeria regardless of where they stayed or lived.

At least 26 suspected pirates and 7,000 copies of pirated films, especially pornographic films were confiscated by the Nigeria Copyright Commission and Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board during a three-day anti-piracy raid across the state.

The three-day raid, which was carried out in collaboration with the Yoruba Movie Producers/Marketers Association of Nigeria covered Iyana-Ipaja, Agege, Oshodi, Ijora, Orile Iganmu and Obalende.

Executive Secretary of the LSFVCB, Mr. Bamidele Balogun who disclosed this yesterday, said the raid was part of the continuous effort to rid the State of the sale of pirated and unclassified movies asserting that those that were caught during the raids will be tried and brought to justice.

The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has said Boko Haram fighters attacked a village in the state and killed 56 persons.

The governor, who said this during a presentation of gifts on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari to parents of abducted Chibok schoolgirls on Saturday in Maiduguri, said 56 persons were killed in Baanu village in Nganzai Local Government Area of the state.

Shettima said, “Boko Haram crisis is a calamity that befalls us, as the insurgents do not discriminate against anybody before they kill. They don’t care if somebody is a Christian or a Muslim neither do they respect tribal affiliations. Just yesterday (Friday) they killed 56 people in Baanu village of Nganzai Local Government, as I am speaking to you their corpses still litter the streets of the village.”

Imagine "Empire" with Shaft in the lead role ... that was the vision one guy had, but it never got made ... and now he believes the creators of the show owe him $500 million for stealing his idea.

A guy named Jon Astor-White is suing EPs Danny Strong and Lee Daniels -- as well as Imagine Entertainment and 21st Century Fox -- claiming he shopped around a show called "King Solomon" back in 2007 ... which bears a lot of similarities to "Empire."

Astor-White claims his show would have starred Richard Roundtree (Shaft said no thanks) and was about a record executive and his family and their battle over control of the company.

Astor-White said he faxed the treatment around, and included a proposed cast list which was aspirational, to say the least. In addition to Roundtree, Astor-White wanted Diahann Carroll, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, John Goodman, George Hamilton and Angie Dickinson.

A mob in Calabar, Cross River State capital, yesterday, butchered a young man and set the remains on fire beside Atu Secondary School fence along Goldie Street, for allegedly robbing a woman of a pot of soup. His two accomplices escaped.

The hoodlum, in the company of two others, were alleged to have attacked the woman at Mayne Avenue Extension in Calabar South.

They were allegedly attracted by the aroma of the soup the woman was warming for her family’s breakfast before heading for early morning mass at nearby St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

A young man, who lives in the same premises with the lady, said as the robbers were about to get out of the compound with the pot of soup, the woman raised the alarm, prompting neighbours to go after them. They caught up with the one carrying the pot of soup and dealt him several machete cuts before setting him ablaze.
