The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, on Friday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari has “derailed” barely two years in office, but blamed the Peoples Democratic Party for obstructing the president’s efforts to make Nigeria better.


“There is no doubt that we have derailed because we are not doing what we say we want to do,” The Nation reported Mr. Ali, a key ally of Mr. Buhari, as saying.
He quickly held the opposition party responsible for Mr. Buhari’s failures, saying PDP loyalists occupy as many government offices as members of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Today, with all sense of responsibility, I want to say that we have 50 percent of PDP in our government. How can we move forward with this load? How can we achieve our target with this load?” Mr. Ali said.
His comments came when he opened a new office for the Buhari Support Organisation in Abuja.
The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalung, whom The Nation reported was at the event with Mr. Ali, also supported the Customs’ boss comments, praising him for displaying uncommon courage.
“It requires very courageous people to come out and say these things are wrong,” Mr. Lalung said, adding that other APC governors have also complained to Mr. Buhari about the influence of non-party members to the detriment of those who worked for the party’s success in 2015.

Mr. Ali’s comments came two days after the administration blamed the PDP government under President Goodluck Jonathan for the scandalous reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, a former head of pension reform task force.
Mr. Jonathan swiftly reacted to the statement, signed by Garba Shehu, saying it spoke to the “uncoordinated and rudderless” turn Mr. Buhari’s government had taken.


A spokesperson for the PDP, Dayo Adeyeye, did not immediately respond to PREMIUM TIMES’ requests for comments about Mr. Ali’s attacks Friday night. But political analysts see the Customs chief’s comments as particularly instructive given his closeness to Mr. Buhari.
“These comments should worry all members of the Buhari administration because of where they’re coming from,” said Gbola Oba, a political analyst and automobile expert. “Mr. Ali is one of the strongest allies of the president.”
Consequently, Mr. Oba said the ball has now been punted back to Nigerians to draw their conclusions about the Buhari government.
“He’s half-right and half-wrong,” Mr. Oba said. “It is not in doubt that Buhari government has failed as his close ally has disclosed, but they cannot blame others for their failures.”
In blaming the PDP, Mr. Ali said Mr. Buhari had failed to implement the winner-take-all tactics.
“Let me say that in the course of the jihad of the Prophet Mohammad, anytime they go out for a battle, they come back with loot, but this loot, as far as my own research told me is not distributed to everybody, but to those who took the sword and faced the enemies,” he said in apparent allusion to the contribution of APC members to the party’s victory in 2015 elections.
The election saw the emergence of Mr. Buhari as the country’s president, 30 years after he was deposed as a military head of state.
Mr. Buhari defeated Mr. Jonathan, ending PDP’s 16-year grip on the central government.

But the administration has suffered huge blows about two and a half years on, especially in areas of social and economicchallenges and even the in the war against corruption.
Mr. Ali said things would have been brighter for the government if all key positions in government had gone to loyal members of the APC.“But I must confess here that we have been infused by people who were not part of this journey and these people are the ones that call the shots today,” Mr. Ali said. “That is why we are derailing. If we had the right people who had the vision and have been there in and out, I believe that we will not be going the way we are going today.”


Analysts could not immediately understand how Mr. Ali arrived at his conclusion that the opposition has a lot of say in Mr. Buhari’s government.
This is because Mr. Buhari did not appoint anyone from the PDP or any other opposition party in his cabinet ; unlike President Umar Yar’Adua who convened a government of national unity by inviting opposition parties into his cabinet as a way of moving past election season bitterness.
“The truth is that Nigerians know better: PDP is no longer in government,” said political analyst Victor Okhai.
Mr. Okhai, a career criminologist, said the only association PDP has with the APC government was the decision of the now ruling party to admit many PDP loyalists into its folds shortly after it was formed in 2013.
“When the APC was formed in 2013, the party’s leaders started poaching PDP bigwigs,” Mr. Okhai said. “By the time the country went to poll in 2015, many of the APC leaders were serving PDP governors and federal lawmakers.”

Multi-millionaire business mogul, Chief Kensington Adebutu, on Saturday rewarded the Super Eagles with the sum of N50m after the three-time African champions became the first African country to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Adewale Adeoye, popularly known as Elesho, is one of the veterans in the Yoruba movie industry, having been around for over 30 years.

“A lot of people have been asking me this question lately. If you notice, many of the people in my category that we started acting at the same time are no longer that vibrant in the industry. It is because we are afraid of the type of scripts that the children are churning out these days.

Even in my house, I cannot watch most of the films that are released nowadays because there is really nothing to learn from them. Many of the actresses don’t dress properly. And because we are not their parents, they don’t listen to us. You cannot expect people whose parents are not responsible to behave well.

You cannot see people whose parents are theatre practitioners, or those who actually trained for the job, behaving badly. Another major issue which is killing the industry is piracy. Many of us borrow money from banks just to shoot movies, and at the end of the day, we are not able to recoup our funds because of piracy.

There was a time I caught the person who pirated a particular movie of mine, and he threatened me that if I took him to the police station, he would come back for me.

He told me that he used to be an armed robber, and that it was when they killed his gang mates that he started piracy.

At that point, I had to let him go. The government really needs to do something urgently about piracy. If there are strong punitive measures for pirates, you would see that it would reduce drastically,” he said.

According to reports online, a lady, Ilerioluwa has been arrested at Ogudu in Lagos, after she cut off her neighbor’s tongue.

The victim, identified as Suleman Babangida is currently writhing in pain, as he says he cannot eat, or even take something through his mouth.


According to reports, it is said Ilerioluwa cut off Suleman#s tongue for ritual purpose. The incident happened around midnight on Thursday, October, 5, 2017.

Narrating what happened, the victim, Babangida, said: “It was around 11:30pm when I came back home. Then when I was about to go and urinate at the bathroom, all of a sudden I just saw this lady that I usually call Ilerioluwa, at my back inside the bathroom.



I was like sister Ileri what’s happening, all of a sudden, she just choked my neck and I could not have the strength to scream out extremely. All I could see next was that my tongue had been cut down.”

Ileri was later arrested and the tongue retrieved from her. According to Babangida, she is currently being detained at the Kirikiri prison, after appearing in court on Friday.

Regarding his current condition, Babangida said: “Right now I can’t even eat or take something. I am in pain. The tongue can’t be reattached any longer. I’m not in any relationship with Ileri.

I respected her a lot and took her like a sister. She has nothing to say about what she did to me. The case has been adjourned till the 16th of this month.”

After being released from jail Saturday (Oct. 7), Nelly shared his side of the story on Twitter, telling fans that he is "beyond shocked" and "completely innocent" in regard to rape allegations.
The rapper, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was arrested and questioned earlier in the day after a woman called 911 to report being sexually assaulted by Nelly on his tour bus following a Friday night (Oct. 6) concert in Auburn, Washington, police said in a statement.
"I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation," Nelly tweeted Saturday afternoon.






"I do want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation," he continued.
The Grammy winner also shared gratitude for his fans' "unwavering support," writing, "They know me. I assure you I will be vindicated. And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim."
Nelly is expected to appear at his Saturday night show in Ridgefield, Washington, according to his attorney, Scott Rosenblum.
Rosenblum told the Associated Press in an email: "Our initial investigation clearly establishes this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation."

The national body of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities on Wednesday staged a demonstration at the Ibadan, Oyo State office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

They called on the Federal Government to investigate the financial and other administrative activities of the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olusola Oyewole.

The union vowed not to allow the VC, who is under investigation by the EFCC, to return to the institution until he answered all allegations levelled against him.



During the peaceful protest, leaders of the union noted that there were lots of financial malpractices and other forms of mismanagement going on in the Nigerian university system, promising to make available documented evidences to back up their claims.

The union leaders added that effort was ongoing to expose corrupt VCs of federal institutions across the country.

Representatives from different chapters of the union, which included the University of Ibadan, FUNAAB, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso and the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Ibadan were present at the protest.

Members of the union carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘Oyewole must go,’ ‘Vice-Chancellors, stop victimising our members’ and ‘A thief cannot be our Vice-Chancellor.’

The Chairman of SSANU in UI, Wale Akinremi, who spoke on behalf of the leaders of the union, said the group staged the protest to condemn and reject the recent suspension of members of the union by the embattled VC.

At least 13 people died Wednesday, a local official said, after they apparently drank toxic homemade liquor in India’s eastern Bihar — despite a state-wide ban on alcohol. At least 18 people were taken to hospital late Tuesday due to severe stomach ache and vomiting. “Thirteen people have died so far. Two more are critical and the rest have been discharged,” Rahul Kumar, magistrate of Gopalganj district, told AFP. Kumar said tests were underway to determine the exact cause of death, but they are suspected to have all died after drinking moonshine from illegal bootleggers. One of India’s poorest states, Bihar announced prohibition in April after chief minister Nitish Kumar promised at elections to crackdown on a widespread problem of alcohol abuse. Bihar is one of a string of states to have banned alcohol over the years. Hundreds of poor people who cannot afford branded liquor die every year in India from drinking cheap and toxic hooch. Last month, 33 people died in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh state after drinking toxic brew. Bootleggers often add methanol — a highly toxic form of alcohol sometimes used as an anti-freeze or fuel — to their home-brew liquor to increase the alcoholic content. If ingested, it can cause blindness and liver damage and can kill in larger concentrations.

A man's regrettable action has prompted the indigenes of his village into action after he mistakenly killed his baby while beating his wife for not washing his cloths. At the Umuchima Village in Owerri West Local Government Area on Thursday Morning, a Barber named Chinedu, accidentally killed his baby after a fight erupted between him and his wife.
It was gathered that the unfortunate incident happened after a minor issue which escalated to the man bartering his wife, and as the drama was going on, the woman carried the 3-months old baby, thinking that at least this will subside his husband’s anger.





While the lady was evading another punch from the husband, the worst happened as the punch hit the baby's head. This prompted the indigenes, to alert the Vigilante Group, who quickly swing into action and arrested the man.

The hacktivists collective, Anonymous had launched a 30-day operation called OpIcarus, against “all central banks” and major financial institutions, claiming that it would be one of the biggest attacks in its history. The hacktivist group, who have collaborated with fellow hackers Ghost Squad Attackers, are targeting bank websites worldwide.

It started with the Bank of Greece with Anonymous successfully being able to bring the website down. However, a Bank of Greece official said: “The attack lasted for a few minutes and was successfully tackled by the bank’s security systems. The only thing that was affected by the denial-of-service attack was our website.

The hacking collective has no structured organization and members take part in different operations whenever they like. According to a YouTube video, Anonymous said that its attack on banks is an extension of Operation Icarus, a campaign the collective previously launched against Wall Street. It’s now bringing it back over the next month.




In a later video, Anonymous extended its proposed targets to include “MasterCard and Visa, Bank for International Settlements, all central banks, the IMF and the London Stock Exchange and every major banking system.”

“Our message is clear. We will not let the banks win. We will be attacking the banks with one of the most massive attacks ever seen in the history of Anonymous,” the group said.

Originated in 2003, Anonymous adopted the Guy Fawkes mask as their symbol for online hacking. In a statement to AnonHQ.com, the cyber attackers said:

“This is just the beginning. We won’t stop until all focus is back on the banks where it belongs and all ‘to big to jail’ institutions are held accountable for their crimes.

“Now that we are uniting our groups, it will only be a matter of time before the whole international banking cartel who are responsible for worldwide economic terrorism, can expect to expect us.”

In what will come across as a most unbelievable tale n recent times, a woman got pregnant but never knew about it till she gave birth in the toilet.

The young mum, Jade Wigley, has revealed she had no idea she was pregnant until she gave birth in the toilet – despite going out drinking the night before.



It reports that Jade, 21, was rushed to A&E after suffering from severe stomach pains – which doctors told her were due to pulling the lining of her abdomen - three months before her son George, now 10 months, was born. The retail worker took a pregnancy test at Basildon University Hospital, Essex, but it came back negative.



She continued life as normal, even drinking rum and coke on a night out with friends the day before she gave birth. But the next morning - July 6 last year - she woke up with severe stomach pain at the home of her boyfriend, Martin Roche, 27.



Jade, of South Ockendon, Essex, recalled: "I thought maybe it was my abdomen again.
