2x=8;

therefore x=4




You are wrong....you can square root each term of a binomial expression.

✓x + ✓x = ✓8
2✓x = ✓8
Square both sides
(2✓x) ² = (✓cool ²
4x = 8
Divide both sides by 4
x = 2
