Something is fishy, either Soludo is lying about his visit to Nnamdi Kanu or it's just a media propaganda.

Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer reacts as court denies IPOB leader bail

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reacted as an Abuja Federal High Court denied the Biafra agitator bail.

Ejimakor said a recent court ruling by an Abia State High Court sitting in Umuahia would have an implication on Justice Binta Nyako’s ruling.

Speaking with DAILY POST, the Special Counsel said the ruling of the Umuahia-led court is the only basis for which the Abuja ruling would proceed.

Recall that Justice Nyako had denied Kanu’s bail application on Wednesday.

The judge said Kanu should explain his whereabouts when he jumped bail in 2017.

Reacting, Ejimakor said: “She denied the bail application, but she also ruled that Kanu can reapply for bail with an explanation of why he did not attend court in 2017. This is where the Umuahia judgment will come into play.

“The initial bail application (the one denied today) was filed before the Umuahia judgment that impliedly exonerated Kanu from the notion that he had jumped bail in 2017.

“Very significant. It’s the only basis upon which the new bail application can proceed.”

Boko Haram: Abubakar Sarki, others neutralised in battle with troops in Sambisa

Top Boko Haram Commander, Abubakar Sarki reportedly controlling the dreaded Sambisa Forest in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria has been killed.

Nigerian Army (Operation Hadin Kai) confirmed that troops, following intelligence, attacked the convoy of the late Shekau-led faction Commander, Abubakar Sarki and killed him alongside his fighters in a bloody exchange of gun fire within the fringes of the Sambisa forest.

Zagazola Makama, an expert in counter-insurgency and security, revealed this to newsmen in Maiduguri.

According to him, intelligence information had it that Abubakar Sarki and his team were heading towards Abu-Ubaida’s camp to engage their rival fighters from the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP), in a battle of supremacy.

“A ground assessment confirmed that three gun trucks with all their occupants were completely destroyed, while the remaining five vehicles and terrorists including Abubakar Sarki escaped.

“But luck ran out of them as troops after sighting a moving convoy conveying Abubakar Sarki and an unconfirmed number of fighters, the army deployed a massive artillery gun resulting in devastating hits on the terrorists.” He said.

It was gathered that the terrorists though aborted the mission, evacuated the dead and wounded fighters towards the axis between Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area and Banki on the border of Bama and Cameroon.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Maj Gen Waidi Shaibu, who led the operations on Saturday at Yuwe location, within the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno is also said to be in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists around Gwoza and Bama axis in Borno State.

DAILY POST reports that the fight between the Boko Haram faction of the late Abubakar Shekau and ISWAP-led submission to ISIS had intensified with the ISWAP fighters hunting their Boko Haram rivals during the daytime while the Boko Haram members are said to hunt ISWAP fighters at night having understood the terrain in the Sambisa forest.

BREAKING: AfDB President, Adesina makes decision on Presidential ambition

President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has dismissed claims that he is running for the presidency.

Recall that a coalition of 28 groups had purchased and submitted the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on behalf of Adesina.

But reacting, Adesina in a statement issued on Tuesday, maintained that he is not running for president.

“I am very touched by all who have gone to a great extent, with such huge sacrifices, of their own volition, to consider me worthy to be proposed for potential consideration.

“The coalition groups of youth, women, farmers, physically challenged and well-meaning Nigerians that have done this have expressed their genuine free will, political right, freedom of expression and association for my consideration, with the interest of Nigeria at heart.

“While I am deeply honoured, humbled and grateful for all the incredible goodwill, kindness, and confidence, my current responsibilities at this time do not allow me to accept to be considered.

“I remain fully engaged and committed to the mission that Nigeria, Africa and all the non-African shareholders of the African Development Bank have given me for Africa’s development,” he read.

2023: Why Presidency should return to Northern Nigeria – Fani-Kayode

A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has disclosed why the Presidency should return to the northern part of Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode explained that Igbos should be given the first right of refusal regarding producing Nigeria’s next President.

He noted that any discussion of a southern Presidency that does not give the Igbos the first right of refusal is deceitful.

In a series of tweets, Fani-Kayode said the North Central and Northeast have never produced a Nigerian President.

Fani-Kayode wrote: “Any talk of a Southern Presidency that does not offer the Igbo right of first refusal for the position is deceitful. And if you say no to the Igbos, which clearly both parties have done even if they don’t say it publicly, then I say let the Presidency go back to the North!

“That is why I am supporting a Northern aspirant. Southerners must learn to be fair to one another before they can expect to be treated fairly by others.

“There are two zones in the North that have not produced a democratically-elected President.

“The NC has NEVER done so & the NE produced a Prime Minister 62 years ago who was unable to finish his tenure because he was killed. Is it fair to deny them & the Igbo, who have never produced a democratically-elected President either, the right to produce the next President? “

ASUU strike: Shehu Sani reacts as female students threaten to protest nude

Nigerian female students have been warned against protesting nude on the streets over the prolonged strike action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Reports on social media had said some female students are planning to protest naked on the streets asking the government and ASUU to reach a compromise and call off the strike.

Reacting, Shehu Sani urged students not to protest naked in order not to create distractions to their main cause.

His tweet read: The nationwide students’ protest over the ongoing universities strike is commendable and should be sustained.

“However, the threats by some female students to protest nude should be shelved, in order not to create serious distractions to the main cause of the struggle.”

Meanwhile, some students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Tai Solarin University of Education, Science and Technology (TASUED) Ijagun and Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta on Monday blocked the Sagamu-Benin Expressway protesting.

The students held placards with inscriptions such as “End ASUU strike now”, “We say no to educational stagnancy”, “We’re tired of deadlock meetings” and “Education should not be this difficult” among others.

ASUU strike was extended for three months recently making it three months since the strike began on February 14th.

However, there are indications that the strike might be called off soon as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the agreement reached with ASUU would yield good fruits next week.

ASUU told to continue strike as Accountant General allegedly steals N80bn

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has been urged to continue its ongoing industrial action.

Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, said ASUU should continue with the strike following the alleged stealing of N80 billion from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had arrested Idris over alleged N80 billion fraud.

EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, confirmed Idris’s arrest on Monday.

He was arrested after he failed to honour invitations by the EFCC.

The anti-graft agency stated that Idris allegedly diverted funds and laundered N80billion.

Reacting to the development, Omokri said ASUU should demand that President Muhammadu Buhari recover the N80 billion and use it to meet their demands.

In a tweet, Omokri wrote: “Dear ASUU,

“If the Accountant General of the Federation can steal ₦80 billion, you have no reason to end your strike.

“Ask Buhari to use the stolen ₦80 billion to pay you and keep the change. After all, the money ASUU is asking for is not even up to ₦80 billion!”
