PoliticsRe: When l Used To Sell Akara And Made A Lot Of Money by Smartworkfx2(op): 9:06am On Jun 27
Smartworkfx2:
Very real my brother. The lectures we got from EDS and TMC awakened the business side of most students.

Many CU students were into entrepreneurship as students. I used to sell shoes and Tshirts back in school. Shoes l got for 3k at CMS, l will sell for 10k in school.

Many students both male and female sold.
Clothes
Shoes
Bags
Laptops
Gadgets
Food items.
Shirts.
Boxers.
Watches.
Etc

One of my friends even operated a cybercafe in his room. typing and printing plus graphic design centre n his room.

Someone used to supply a product we called GASUPA to the buttery back then. It was a combination of Garri, Sugar and Epa(groundnut).
The guy packaged them n a satchet with separate slots and supplied to the buttery.

Ask any CU graduate that was in CU between 2002 and 2008. They will know the GASUPA product.
Now this is another business idea you can start and succeed in. GASUPA.

Seived garri.
Dangote Sugar.
Clean groundnut
Repackage it in sachets

Do your marketing research.
Leverage on social media.
Network with people in your church or mosque.

As long as people eat, there will always be a market for food business.

You will excel and succeed
PoliticsRe: When l Used To Sell Akara And Made A Lot Of Money by Smartworkfx2(op):
Some of you making comments didn't even read the whole story l narrated. Read my post carefully to the last sentence to fully understand my point of view.

I am not supporting what the first lady said. I am only exposing how difficult it is to make profit from this busines considering the operational cost plus logistics.

I could only do the Akara business back then because my sweet mum supported me. Also because l had a large market in a private university with rich students.

How much is Akara in your area now. It is N50 and N100 near my office in lagos depending on size.

One mumu Tinubu loyalist said it can be repackaged and sold for N1000. Very weird set of people

Note that this same akara was N10 and N20 when tinubu became president in May 2023. Beans of N900 is now over 5k. Oil of N300 is now over N1500. Cooking gas of N400 per kg is now over N1700. All within the space of three years.

Does that story sound real?

In a strict and well organised school like covenant?

Admin please kindly move this topic to frontpage so we can learn from other nairalanders who have done Akara, Roasted corn or Kulk Kuli business before 🤣.

Honestly Akara business is very profitable.💯
PoliticsWhen l Used To Sell Akara And Made A Lot Of Money by Smartworkfx2(op): 7:13am On Jun 27
As funny as this Akara topic of remi tinubu sounds, l remember a time in a my life when l was into Akara business back in school at Covenant University.

I met the buttery guy at CU and struck a deal of daily supply with him.

I told my mum she will be making akara in large quantities for me. She agreed and her maid started making it daily. My mum's driver will deliver it to me in school.

I was making a lot of money as the Akara was sold out in a couple of hours that the buttery guy told me to increase supply.

I didn't have the capacity to increase the quantity supplied as a student back then. My mum was very supportive as she was the one fueling the car to deliver the Akara all the way from Lagos to Ota.

When l told my mum l need to increase supply, she supported me again with more raw materials. (God bless that woman for me and May her soul rest in peace).

I kept repeating the process and made huge amount of money. After about six weeks, l got tired of the business. Stupid me used the money to flex🤣. I also got a timberland boot and blackberry phone which gave me some fulfilment that the project was worth it.🤣

Now, the moral of the story is l didn't have any passion for the business. I only did it as a means to an end back then.

The hard truth is without the support of my mum, l won't have been able to embark on that little project.

1. She paid her driver for delivery.
2. She fueled the car.
3. She bought the cooking gas.
4. She paid her maid who made the Akara.
5. She even provided the raw materials when l needed to increase supply.

👆🏻now imagine if l had to incur all these expenses as a student, l won't have made any profit.

Remi Tinubu, the Audacity you have to tell graduates to go into such business is insane. In this Digital age and Infotech era. Go to china and see what they are teaching their youths

Your husband promised to create 3 million jobs, yet he has failed woefully. You said you gave grants of 2 billion and 1 billion. Why not use the money to build factories and small scale companies.

Madam, if you have nothing good to say, please just keep quiet and enter the kitchen to cook for your husband.
