PoliticsAPC Liars by snwokwo(op): 3:49pm On Mar 26, 2015
The attention of the Maku Campaign Organisationhas been drawn to yet another devious advertorial by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nation Newspaper of 26th March, 2015 alleging that the former Information Minister and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku has accused the government of President Goodluck Jonathan for sponsoring the killings by BokoHaram.

Their blatant and careless advertorial corroborates what we have being saying all along that the APC was behind the initial malicious photoshop forgery that appeared in the Social Media propagating the same evil and wicked accusations.

Despite repeated refutations to the libelous publication by both the Maku Campaign Organisation and the governorship candidate himself, the APC is still bent on tarnishing the image of President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of Saturday’s presidential election by using the name of his trusted loyalist and former minister to malign him.

Mr. Maku has continued to maintain his position that there is an organic link between the insurgency and APC. It is therefore not by coincidence that the insurgents operate mainly in states controlled by the APC where they have the support and leverage to carry out their nefarious activities.

The thinking of the APC was that if they attached the name of Mr. Maku to such a falsehood, unsuspecting members of the public were likely to believe them. For fear of imminent defeat in the elections, the APC is now using all known and unknown subterfuge to smear the name of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mr. Labaran Maku.

Their efforts are all a waste as Nigerians can see that the APC is an evil party, and they will be defeated by Nigerians on 28th March, and April 11, 2015.

Since the APC has continued to publish the falsehood in spite of numerous denials from the campaign organization and our principal, it now behooves on the APC to substantiate their allegations by providing Nigerians with the video clip or quotation of Mr. Maku where he made those allegations.

We therefore demand the APC to retract the statement within the next 24 hours or face litigation over the injurious and libelous publication. Our legal team had since swung into action to ensure that the APC faces the full wrath of the law for spreading falsehood and hate.

The Campaign Organisation equally demands apologies from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Nation Newspaper and the so-called Concerned Citizens for the false publication.

PoliticsMaku Campaign Train Stops At Nasarawa-west by snwokwo(op): 3:46pm On Mar 20, 2015
MAKU CAMPAIGN TRAIN STOPS AT NASARAWA-WEST

At Agwada, Osu Agwada, Alh. Abubakar Kaika gave the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance Mr. Labaran Maku and his entourage a warm and happy welcome!

HIS EXACT WORDS: “We are together in this cause because it is a cause to salvage ‪#‎Nasarawa‬ state from its current quagmire. Adding that, “the Eggon and the Afo share the same history---Eggon dutse, Afo dutse.

We pray you win because we know you alone will help the afo people. We asked for water and you sent us water, we thank you for that.“ He further assure Maku of the Agwada's votes. Maintaining that, “we know Maku as a man of peace and that is what we need in Nasarwa state now and beyond.”

Mr. Labaran Maku expressed heartfelt thanks to the Afo people, especially the Osu Agwada for his grand and warm reception. The former information minister promised that if elected, he will ensure their needs and concerns were met and their people given adequate representation in his government.

Mr. Maku said his administration would ensure justice, peace, mutual respect and cooperation among different religious and ethnic groups in the state.

He also called for prayers for peaceful elections, which would usher in a government that would strengthen the bond of unity in the state.

He equally urged the people of the state support the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and exonerated him from the spate of insurgency raging in the North East.
PoliticsThe Maku Campaign Organisation In Nasarawa State, Has Challenged The APC To Come by snwokwo(op): 3:05pm On Mar 20, 2015
The Maku Campaign Organisation in Nasarawa State, has challenged the APC to come out clean on the report that they imported some American ICT experts to manipulate the outcome of the forthcoming presidential and governorship elections in Nasarawa state.

There were media reports that the Americans have been collecting personal data of voters in Nasarawa State, preparatory to the elections, yet neither the APC or Al-Makura has not come out to offer explanation over the grave allegation.

It would be recalled that recently security agents in the country had raised the alarm that APC was planning to hack into INEC data base with a view to compiling its own voter register in order to rig the general elections.

Perhaps it was in furtherance of the hidden agenda to perpetrate the electoral fraud that the APC and Al-Makura went as far as America to employ the services of ICT experts with the capacity to manipulate and jam the frequency the card readers in order to create chaos.

We strongly suspect that the motive of Al-Makura and the APC is to tamper with the electronic signature of voters in Nasarawa State in order to rig the election and hurriedly announce fictitious figures through the state-owned broadcasting outfits, which will declare Al-Makura and Gen. Buhari as the winners of the presidential and governorship elections.

We therefore call on security agencies to launch an investigation into the alleged importation of some Americans by APC who will offer their expertise in the card reader technology to aid the rigging of the governorship and presidential elections in Nasarawa State.
PoliticsLabaran Maku’s Amazing Story (part 1) by snwokwo(op): 11:11am On Mar 11, 2015
‎My wife, Mrs. Mary Maku, with whom I have come to hold this thanksgiving is also filled with special gratitude to God today.

The various biblical text read by the priest sums up the reason why we are here. But I will add that Psalm 113 is of special significance to me in addition to what our priest has already told you. If you look at Psalm 113 you will see that King David was expressing to God his heartfelt gratitude for how God took him from behind; from tending his father’s sheep in the bush, over and above his strong, well groomed elder brothers and made him King of Israel. Now as I stand before you here, the summary of my life is that I am here because of God’s grace and mercy.

For those who know my little village by the hills, Wakama, Akun Development Area of Nasarawa State‎, if you go there, what it will remind you of will be what was said in the Bible that Bethlehem was the least of the cities of Judah and what good could ever come out of Nazareth.‎ So God can go to the most unlikely places and raise people from the dust and place them at the rulership of their communities and their nations. That is exactly what God has done for me.

Humble begining

My late parents didn’t go to school. They were peasant farmers; and when I was born, there was no modern facility in my village. My mother didn’t go to the maternity because there was no hospital around. And she told me that on the day I was born my father was the birth attendant, so, he took my delivery. It was not midwives and nurses that received me at birth. This is really a very interesting story. That is the way I came into the world. Indeed I don’t know my birthday because it was not recorded, so every day is my birthday, maybe it was today I don’t know but everyday is my birthday.

In our time, our people did not go to school. There was a catholic school at Alushi, St Michael’s Primary School, here but my community refused to go to school because we were very deep in culture. So I started life worshipping as all the traditionalists in my community were. Then some times at the beginning of the civil war, a priest from this church convinced the village head, he told him, ‘look we want to start a school in your village but you people don’t come to school, can you please go house to house and get maybe one child per house so that we can start a catholic school in your compound?’ So the village head went from compound to compound himself because he knew if he didn’t, nobody would agree, forcing each household to release a child to go to school.

Conscription into school

When he came to our compound, there was a big drama. My father said it will be my younger brother that will go to school. So I was very happy because they said then that they use to beat children in school, so anyone sent to school then was like punishment. I was very excited that I was not the one, so I went behind the compound rejoicing. Then some twist of fate took place, my step mother refused. She was begged for more than 30 minutes she said no that her last child would not go to school. Because my elder brother, Alhaji Usman Sule had already been forced to go to school earlier on in the 1940s, she felt that this last child will stay with her. So my father said I am the only son from my mother’s side so if I go to school, who will take care of my mother on the farm. There was stalemate and every opportunity to convince my step mother to allow my younger brother go to school failed. So the village head said look, if his younger brother’s case is impossible can we call his mother and plead if she will allow him to go to school. They called my mother and she said yes. That is how I went to school, by substitution.
Politics“PDP And APC Have Joined Forces Against Me” – Labaran Maku by snwokwo(op): 10:09am On Mar 11, 2015
The attention of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa State has been drawn to yet another mischief planted in the Leadership Newspaper of 8th March, 2015 claiming that our governorship candidate, Mr. Labaran Maku, has been a card carrying of APGA since 2013.The report was the manifestation of the desperation of the ill-informed opposition in Nasarawa State who have been jittery and confused since Mr. Maku emerged as the governorship candidate of APGA.
While we do not want to join issues with the PDP and APC in Nasarawa State, who have now formed an unholy alliance in the smear campaign against Mr. Maku, it behooves on APGA to clarify the issue and put the records straight.

After watching how Mr. Maku was schemed out of the PDP primaries in December 2014, APGA approached him with the governorship ticket, which he accepted and thereafter defected to APGA.

In line with the party guidelines, Mr. Maku was granted a waiver to contest on the platform of APGA which entailed back-dating his membership of the party by one year.

Based on the waiver granted Mr. Maku by the national leadership of APGA, the party filled his INEC nomination forms with the date that was shifted back to accommodate the waiver.

Even though the waiver was an internal affairs of APGA and accepted by INEC, out of desperation and trepidation, the opposition parties have gone to town spreading lies to misinform the public.

We were reliably informed that some officials of APC and PDP in Nasarawa State, who stumbled on the INEC nomination form of Mr. Maku, have been openly soliciting for the services of journalists to publish it – all in their bid to sustain the campaign of calumny against our candidate. We learned that the APC-leaning reporter of Leadership Newspaper in Nasarawa State was summoned to the Government House in Lafia where he was instructed to publish the slander against Mr Maku.

We therefore urge our teeming supporters to disregard the ill-motivated report as one of the spins employed by the opposition to discredit the reputation and high profile of Mr. Maku ahead of the election.

PoliticsDon’t Use Pvcs, Card Readers Yet – Maku by snwokwo(op): 9:56am On Feb 24, 2015
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to suspend the idea of deploying Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs and Card Readers for the 2015 general elections.

Maku advised the commission to reserve the PVC and card readers for test-run in any by-elections and in the 2019 general elections.

Maku, who stated this when he addressed newsmen at a rally in Karu at the weekend, hailed the INEC for the innovation but insisted that it needed to be test-run properly in a by-election to ascertain its effectiveness before deploying the technology in a nation-wide election.

The former Information Minister, said INEC should prepare its mind for the use of the innovation in 2019 if it is proven effective in the by-elections to be conducted as a fall out of the March and April elections.

“By 2019, I believe that every eligible voter would have collected his or her PVC and card reader machines tested and proven to be effective in the by-elections,” he said.

He further urged the electoral body to allow all registered voters including those with the temporary cards to vote, adding that disallowing Nigerians from voting because of PVC will mean disenfranchising a number far bigger than the size of those that voted in the presidential election of 2011.

“The number of voters yet to be given their PVCs in the 36 states and Abuja is more than the total votes cast for all parties that participated in the 2011 presidential election.

“You can imagine the number of Nigerian voters about to be disfranchised if INEC continues with its plan to use the PVCs and card readers in this year’s election,” he added.

He said: “My call on INEC to drop the plan was due to the already heated arguments, complaints and controversy generated by the process across the country.

“The number of PVC yet to be distributed to voters across the country is in millions, hence the call to allow voters with Temporary Voters Card (TVC) to vote in the coming election.”

He contended that those who are yet to be given PVCs should not be made to suffer for the challenges in the distribution process of the PVCs.
PoliticsChristian Gov. Will Emerge In Nasarawa – Maku, Ex-minister by snwokwo(op): 4:14pm On Feb 23, 2015
The emergence of Labaran Maku from the majority tribe under a political party you classify as a minority party (APGA) in Nasarawa State has become a threat to the big political parties: APC and PDP. In this interview, the former Minister of Information and governorship candidate of APGA in the state says he survived the plots by the PDP and APC to truncate his ambition and political career.

What multivated your move from PDP to APGA?

From the beginning of my political in 1998, I have been in the PDP. I never planned to dump the PDP. I have been a loyal member in Nasarawa State and even when God lifted me, through President Goodluck Jonathan, who is my leader and mentor, to be a minister, I gave the party all my loyalty in all the offices I occupied. I used my resources to also build the party right from the ward to local government, state and the national level. I was never found wanting in my loyalty to the party all the while.

As a person, whenever I want to do anything, I commit my all to it. When PDP lost the governorship election in Nasarawa in 2011, the burden of building the party was wholly on my head because the party was at the verge of collapsing. I insisted that the party will not collapse because democracy requires that the opposition must be sustained. To achieve this, I encouraged the party officials at all levels. I even bought nomination forms for them to participate in the party activities with my money.

Each time there was any party meeting in Lafia, I would send money to these officials to assist their transportation because there was nobody to help them. At every festive opportunity, I will send gifts to these officials and some of our members to celebrate. In fact some APC members were partaking in the sharing of these items because their party never cared for them as much as we do to our members.

In addition, I was the one always defending the party at the national level whenever there was any attack on the party from the opposition. I was virtually involved in the polemic of the party at every given time. All my earnings I ploughed back into the PDP at the state and national levels to make sure the party stood strong and tall.

Unfortunately as events turned out, the same way I was treated in 2011, it was repeated on me in the 2014 primary election. In 2011, after a wide mobilization towards winning the primary election because my boss then, Abdullahi Adamu, had completed his second tenure, I had the leverage to contest with his support. Out of the 13 local government and 16 development areas making 29, I had 23 leaders solidly behind me.

But just two months before the primary election, the system began to turn against me.

Just a week before the primary, party officials started telling me that they had been instructed not to work for me and that it appeared my boss (Abdullahi Adamu) had somebody in mind and not me. Eventually it became clear that he instructed them to support Aliyu Akwe Doma.

I was confused at that point and asked why I should be treated that way. I was told that Doma was an elderly person and that they wanted an elderly person and not somebody of my age. I was told that I was too young and therefore should wait. And I know that at 2007 I was already 45 years and was older than some state governors.

Of course there was lot of pressure on me then. The ANPP wanted me to run under their party but I turned down their request because of my loyalty to the PDP. When Doma came on board he called on me to join him so we could work together but I told him no because two governors could not be in a state.

In the course of my waiting, President Goodluck Jonathan made me Minister of State for Information and later elevated me to be the Minister of Information. While I was a minister I worked very close with Doma and we went everywhere campaigning in 2011. What actually happened was that we lost that election to CPC because there were some god fathers who under-mined us and were playing anti-party game in Nasarawa, working for the CPC to clinch to power.

It was quite amazing that during the elections, soldiers and the police turned against us as the ruling party chasing away our people from the polling booths. Almakura had god fathers in PDP who were using the party structure to work for CPC. Strangely we were told that Almakura won the election. How could you win an election as governor where you have 20 out of 24 assembly members who are PDP.

For sectional reasons, somebody in PDP is championing the fight from the opposition against the party. This is the kind of gloomy situation we find ourselves in Nasarawa state. This was why we lost the election in 2011.

However, I continued to strengthen the party only for, in the course of the 2014 primary election, to see the ugly trend we witnessed in Nasarawa local government where the list of delegates was changed, non-delegates were brought in.

To worsen the matter, thugs were brought in to threaten people on religious grounds saying ‘if you vote for Maku, we will kill you and burn your house’. On the eve of the election, there were meetings in Keffi and in a farm of a PDP stalwart where threats were issued to anyone who did not comply.

The cause of the crisis going now is that some people in the state have said the Christians can never rule Nasarawa. And I say that is not correct because I grew up in a mixed family where we have both Christians and Muslims. In my village, my traditional ruler is Muslim and nobody is raising eye brow because I believe we are one people.

When I saw all this happening in the state I tried every means possible to appeal to the party to wade in. But the national leadership of the party failed to respond to my allegations. I wrote further to them stating that if they don’t do anything I was going to take steps. I was waiting until APGA came and told me I could not continue to wait when our state was in dire need of a leader who will salvage it.

I joined APGA when the political status of the state has changed.

The cock is crowing with APGA drawing support in the villages and towns across the state. My journey to APGA has expanded the frontier of competition in Nasarawa. Neither APC nor PDP can today pretend that the governorship seat is theirs because the political thermometer is not the same now. Going by the massive support from the youths and women who have sworn their support to APGA, I can assure you that a repeat of what happened in 2011 where an unpopular party seized power in Nasarawa will never again happen by the grace of God.

How do you react to the verbal attack against you by the pdp leadership over your move to apga?

It is expected that when my kind of person leaves a party, that party cannot be happy. The PDP leaders attack is expected. I believe they know my worth and what I have contributed to the success of the party. I am not going to join issues with them because a number of them are old enough to be my parents, a number of them are my leaders in the offices they are holding today. I don’t want to be seen quarreling with them;

I want to focus on my goal and campaign. What they said in the public I have replied them. It is all about what my people want. Their lives are in jeopardy; they need me to come to their rescue and can’t ignore what my supporters are calling on me to do.

Politics is all about your acceptability at the local level, no matter your relevance at the national level. If you are not relevant at the local level, how can you be a politician? My people in Nasarawa are saying they a dying; the state is in a state of violence and we want somebody who is strong enough to emancipate us and restore peace and give the state a direction. If I ignore their call, then I am not a politician.

If elected as governor, will you empower the ombatse?

The war that is going on in Nasarawa now is purely insurgency. What is going on in Borno and Yobe is what is going on in Nasarawa right now.

Today, the Alago, Ahos, Agatu, Tiv and the Eggon people cannot go to their farms because of the insurgency in the state.

The initial crisis was between the Alagos and the Eggons in Asakio and the parties are now running away from their ancestral homes because stronger forces have taken over the land. If I become the governor of Nasarawa, all the problems associated with violence will stop. Right now nobody can accuse me or associate me with violence. I don’t have to kill, or attack anybody or to sacrifice a chicken to win election.

Everybody is suffering in the state. The Fulani are the first to tell me to contest for governorship because they are all tired. It will take APGA with its slogan, ‘Be you brother’s keeper’, to restore the peace Nasarawa needs.
APGA adopted President Jonathan as it presidential candidate and I am the presidential campaign director in Nasarawa. Goodluck Jonathan is a wonderful president. People are attacking him today because of ethnic and sectional rejection. If you want to look at who has planned and moved Nigeria in the last few years, it is President Jonathan.

Are you realy getting support from nasarawa senatorial zone where you belong knowing well that majority of political rivals are also from same zone?

The answer is yes. It is so because the PDP played down the power sharing formula. In 2009, we started the governorship with Nasarawa west.

We moved to Nasarawa south in 2007 and by 2011 nobody from the other zone contested knowing well that it was the still the time of Nasarawa south. Even Almakura, when he won in CPC, he swore by the Koran that he was going to spend only one term. That is why some of the political gladiators from Nasarawa north supported him thinking that he was being genuine.

When he started reneging in 2012, the APC collapsed because of what they call betrayal and treachery of the APC government. Which means that even in APC the general expectation was that power was going to move to Nasarawa north not to talk PDP. Everybody expected that the PDP will respect the initial agreement to produce the candidate from Nasarawa north. This would have given the PDP a leeway but because of sentiment of religion, PDP went and brought somebody from the south. That is why my emergence has completely altered everything. I don’t want to state my support on the pages of newspaper for the opposition to go and destabilize me but I can assure you that from Nasarawa north, to all the zones, my supporters are everywhere.

MAKU CONDEMNS STORIES ON SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIMING HE SAID PRESIDENT JONATHAN IS THE SPONSOR OF BOKO HARAM!- It's a lie from the pit of hell!

It has come to the notice of the Maku Campaign Organisation that a false and mischievous report is on circulation in the social media purporting that the #APGA governorship candidate for #Nasarawa State in the February election, Mr. Labaran Maku said that President Goodluck is the sponsor behind Boko Haram.

This story is obviously a lie from the pit of hell and was planted by the enemies of President Jonathan and Mr. Maku' s detractors.

The main objective of this fabrication is to cause mischief, disaffection and confusion.

Mr. Maku's position has always been that the eruption of terrorism in the North is not the creation of President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Government of #Nigeria, but from the violent mix of religion and politics in some states in the North mainly controlled by the opposition APC which has left many parts of the Northern region in turmoil.

The spread of hate ideology is mainly responsible for terrorism and for the spread of violence.

It is disgusting that some actors have tried to use the violence in the north to malign Mr. President for cheap political ends. President Jonathan cannot and should not be blamed for the violence in the North, rather he should be commended for his effort in bringing the violence under control.
The North must look inward for solutions to the problem of violence in the region.

For the avoidance of doubt, let us restate that Mr. Labaran Maku has never said that President Goodluck Jonathan is the sponsor of Boko haram! This story and its mischievous source are lies from the pit of hell because Mr. Maku has and will continue to be an ardent supporter of President Jonathan and his transformation agenda.

The victory of Mr. Maku on the platform of APGA in the upcoming election is certain because he stands far and above all the contestants in terms of leadership attributes and the broad-based support required to rescue Nasarawa State from the brinks and return it to the path of peace, unity and sustainable development.

We call on our teeming supporters to disregard the lies and vote for Mr. Maku and President Goodluck Jonathan at the upcoming elections!

PoliticsChai!!!! Feminist Group Bashes Amaechi by snwokwo(op): 1:24pm On Oct 30, 2014
MEDIA STATEMENT

The attention of the National Coalition of Women Empowerment Society of Nigeria has been drawn to yet another psychotic and unfortunate abuse on the person and Office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dame Patience Jonathan by Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
In his latest and quite frankly repulsive and elementary diatribe, Rotimi Amaechi while speaking at the Port Harcourt rally on the 25th of October, 2014, blatantly lied against Dame Patience Jonathan, added injury to insult and demeaned her office further by referring to the First Lady of this country, our beloved mother, a prestigious political mentor and women empowerment figure, merely as "the wife of the president".

Has he reduced her to one of his concubines?

What happened to decorum? What happened to respect?

We are vaguely aware that politicians such as Amaechi would throw out their morals in a heartbeat for selfish gains. Still, we have never seen such flagrant display of desperation solely out of the bleak desire to be chosen as a running mate in the upcoming 2015 presidential elections.
Rotimi Amaechi’s continuous lies and attacks put his small mindedness on pitiful display. Nigerian young women know that they are merely disgusting strategies cooked up to downplay the magnitude of the Office of the First Lady of Nigeria and all of Dame Patience’s tremendous achievements towards the betterment of children and women in this nation and Africa.

Should we remind Rotimi Amaechi that Nigeria has the largest population of black women on this planet? The same black women who are under constant persecution from every angle of society and are always being told they are not good enough?

The fight for the empowerment of the black woman has not been easy. The black woman has been made to feel intellectually and professionally inferior by society for decades. Nevertheless, we have and continue to make progress. However, leave it to Rotimi Amaechi to destroy decades of hard work by women such as Dr. Stella Adadevoh, Ambassador Mrs. Elizabeth Ogbon-day, Chief Mrs. Margaret Ekpo, Prof. Dora Akunyili, and Oluwafunmilayo Ransome-Kuti, who fought valiantly to be recognized with several careless sentences.

Young black women around the world see the Office of the First Lady, her character and lifestyle as a model example to live by. Many aspire to accomplish all she has. Many see her as a shining source of inspiration.

What gives Amaechi the right to destroy a source of inspiration for millions of young women just to satisfy his selfish political ambitions?
Our Mother, Dame Patience Jonathan, has ceaselessly and passionately travelled all over the world, despite the odds against her, speaking on behalf of women who neither have the voice nor the opportunity to do so for themselves. Her compassionate social programs, charity deeds and women empowerment schemes, are well known and lauded both at home and abroad.

We ask, which women empowerment program has Amaechi constituted on behalf of the women of Rivers State? The dire situation of these women makes that a rhetorical question.

He should be ardently focused on repairing the havoc he has wrecked on the lives of the women of Rivers state that he so frenziedly claimed are his “responsibility to protect”. But how can he do that when he is constantly putting our mother, daughter and sister down?
We urge every woman of this great nation who believes that women should be treated with more dignity and care than the quintessential crybaby and attention grabber known as Rotimi Amaechi has treated our Dame Patience Jonathan, to speak up and condemn the pathological male chauvinist behavior that he is proudly displaying! We enjoin all men who believe they were brought into this world by a great woman to stand up for their mothers and daughters and vehemently condemn his insane and desperate outbursts!

Rotimi has proved himself to be a sexist narcissist who does not understand that to whom much is given, much is expected. There are millions of young Nigerian men watching his behavior. If an officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria can constantly display such emotionally and verbally abusive behavior to our mother, what stops these young men from propagating the same debilitating culture of women abuse?

This is not a fight based on religion, tribalism or political allies, but a fight for every young woman and girl child of Nigeria.
Men such as Amaechi are the reason the Federal government and several NGO’s spend hundreds of millions of naira on the fight against the abuse of women. We are tempted to insist that Rotimi Amaechi should be forced to attend self-improvement classes so that he can be properly orientated on how to treat women. However, shouldn’t a balding past middle-age man who can boast of a handsome amount of grey hair already know this?

It is well known that two of the main contenders to be the flag bearers for the 2015 Presidential Elections for the All Progressive Congress (APC) are General Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Therefore, knowing fully well that all of Amaechi’s ranting is because he is desperate to be picked as a running mate, we as daughters respectfully beseech both prominent men not to plunge the lives of women and girl children in this country back to a time when child marriage, rape, illiteracy, genital mutilation, domestic violence and inequality in the workplace were the norm, by picking Rotimi Amaechi as their running mate.

This will be utterly demeaning to the sacrifices of great women such as Dr. Stella Adadevoah, Ambassador Mrs. Elizabeth Ogbon-day, Chief Mrs. Margaret Ekpo, Prof. Dora Akunyili, and Oluwafunmilayo Ransome-Kuti.
Surely, we are a nation full of many differing opinions, but we must all agree that undermining the sacrifices that the ladies listed above made for the empowerment of women in our great country is a sin.

God bless us all.
