The last two changes made us worse and the game was over when Mata and Sanchez came on for Herrera and Rashford.

From hindsight, I think Fred should have come for Herrera. I was always scared that Mata would not be able to cope with the speed of City players if brought on. Rashford could not exercise his speed against them, talking less of Mata.

There was only one way to beat them, pace and power. We lacked that in the midfield. Pogba would have offered some power and forward drive.

Fellaini was the only player who started well with good pressing. We have developed the habit of ball watching in our midfield in early parts of every match. We just watch and escort opponents lazily as they pass the ball around us quickly.

Our defence has no coordination. We need an experience central defender to organize the defence.

I still have problems with Luke Shaw. I don't want to belabour this. Since people don't see what I see, I rest my case. He is playing in his natural position and was highly rated there while at Southampton. But he makes basic errors like an academic player and offers little going forward. That same left side is where Young and Blind have punished City and other big teams in the last few years.
