Ofunaofu: Just because bomb blasts are less frequent in major cities doesn’t mean insecurity is solved. States like Benue, Plateau, Niger, Kaduna, Borno, and many others are still plagued by large-scale violence from killer herdsmen, kidnappers, Boko Haram, ISWAP, armed men, and armed militias. Attacks keep happening across the country. The fact that this violence continues under the current administration only proves Tinubu’s point, Nigeria still doesn’t have a government capable of keeping its citizens safe. Don’t confuse pockets of calm with real progress when many lives and properties are still being lost on a daily and millions still living in fear. It has reduced drastically. When was the last time schools were invaded and pupils taken away? Kaduna Abuja road another good example of improved safety. You can even travel at night now. One of the best ways to solve the challenges of insecurity is for the locals to stop their own involvement in aiding this criminals, the locals are the ones who supply them with food, fuel and e.t.c and another is to stop being sympathetic stowards them. Insecurity challenges has improved. There was a time this Pastor and his congregation would be in fear of being attacked in the church. It is a good call for improvement and definitely there will be improvement over successes already achieved. |

Ofunaofu: He also said that the festering insecurities, the massacre of innocent citizens, and the Boko Haram insurgency under the Goodluck Jonathan regime are concrete proof that Nigeria has no government. During the days of Jonathan there was rampant bomb blast in places like Kano for example. Even Abuja wasn't spared?! When was the last time you heard about bombs being detonated in gatherings. There are places which security challenges has really really improved, example is Southern Kaduna. A very reason why the people of Southern Kaduna are giving their total support to this government. Alot is being done to improve the life of Nigerians by this administration. |

Only Judas supports the terrorist because of the change they get in support from Arab country .
Imagine how Morocco reacted because Nigeria won the cup in their soil this is to show you that no Arabian country loves peace . Nigeria would have done the same if awarded a penalty and was cancelled even when the ball was already placed at a spot and about to be taken. We would feel being cheated. That is just human nature. Nigeria has been all over trying hard to see that points are deducted from South Africa to give Nigeria an opportunity for the men's world cup. Despite Argentina's difficult struggles to win the world cup didn't they face a lot of backlash which are mostly ridiculous?! So it's just a human nature. So it has nothing to do with it. |

I have studied this people beyond depth of imagination. That was a strategic move for dominance well calculated and it didn't begin today. Sincerely I don't understand this obsession for Lagos by Igbos. Ojukwu's father Luis Ojukwu a very wealthy man as a transporter he had his own transport company (Ojukwu Transport Limited) which was the first major transport company to move the easterners to Lagos from the Asaba end of the Niger river after they might have crossed over from Onitsha on a boat into Lagos while making provision for their stay. 100 shops built by Peter Obi was built to accommodate which people in Lagos? |
Politics › Re: Don’t Erase History” – Fashola Criticizes Street Renaming Trend In Lagos by Softmirror: 7:19am On Jul 31, 2025 |
phosky: Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), has raised concerns over the increasing practice of renaming historic streets in Lagos, urging stakeholders to respect the legacy behind these names. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Speaking at the public presentation of “Discover Lagos State: A History Puzzle Book (Volume 1)” held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Fashola emphasized the need to preserve Lagos’s cultural and historical identity.
According to Fashola, indiscriminate street renaming risks erasing the valuable contributions of notable Nigerians who helped shape Lagos. He cited Dr. Isaac Ladipo Oluwole, the first African Medical Officer of Health in Lagos, as a prime example. Dr. Oluwole pioneered school health services and established Nigeria’s first School of Hygiene in Yaba in 1920. In his honour, Ladipo Oluwole Street in Ikeja was named — a gesture Fashola insists should be protected, not undone.
“We must ask ourselves why these streets were named after certain individuals. These names tell stories of vision, sacrifice, and excellence,” Fashola noted, cautioning that removing such names could lead to historical amnesia.
Fashola also urged for stronger support for the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), the agency behind the puzzle book. He highlighted LASRAB’s efforts not just as an educational body, but as a key institution in preserving Lagos State’s heritage.
Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat praised the book as an innovative tool for building historical awareness among the youth. He also acknowledged Fashola’s administration for initiating policies that archived state documents and promoted heritage conservation.
“Understanding our history helps us understand ourselves. This book is both educational and entertaining — a step in the right direction,” Hamzat stated.
The event served as a clarion call for Lagosians and policy-makers to value historical documentation and protect the legacies of those who laid the foundation for modern Lagos.

Hemanwel: I may not have a better idea; but my point is that, is the current economic plan of this administration intended to make life harder for Nigerians and make people poorer? I guess no! I believe that isn't the intention of president Tinubu. The blueprint may have worked on paper or in other countries; however, it isn't working here based on the economic reality on ground. So, the economic team needs to restrategize. They need to come up with something that relates with what's on ground. You mean you don't have a better idea? Why don't you have a better idea? |
