It looked just like regular fire but there were no blue flames at all. The one hanging above the staircase was the biggest one I saw, but from the distance where I saw it, it wasn't intimidating to look at (but I guess that it would be if anyone came close enough to it). It was sitting directly above a flat brown surface that seemed to be hanging on the air, or maybe it was held to the roof of the staircase by chains. The flat surface was not moving at all. Again, no blue flames in the fire.

There were several small fires apart from the one in the staircase, some of the windows I saw in the buildings seemed to have fire lighted behind them.

Not related to your question but I have to add that the lighted lamp placed exactly in the middle of the circular center of the mini-city, as well as other things I observed as I looked around the city displayed the dweller's (whoever he/she was) penchant for perfection.
