Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed confidence that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala would deliver on her appointment as a member of South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council. He said this in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday. He said, “I congratulate Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who served as the coordinating minister for the economy/finance minister in my cabinet, on her appointment as a member of South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council. “As a two-time minister in Nigeria, you left indelible marks as an astute manager of the nation’s economy and resources. “I am delighted that you have continued to place your substantial wealth of experience as a development economist at the service of many nations and international organisations to aid global growth and progress. “I have no doubt in my mind that you will excel in the new assignment.” In the face of a dwindling economy, Ramaphosa had in September 2019 inaugurated the Presidential Economic Advisory Council to turn around the economy. Nigerian rapper Iceberg Slim who happens to be the ex-boyfriend of celebrated Ghanaian and Nollywood actress Juliet Ibrahim has finally let the cat out of the bag on what led to their breakup. It would be remembered that the two celebs some years ago were all over social media expressing their love for each other but somewhere along the line, they both stopped sharing photos of themselves as the use to. A fake lawyer was apprehended in court while he was representing a client, and trying to secure a bail for the client. According to Ghana Crimes, the fake lawyer identified as, Iddrisu Yahaya, was looking all confident and properly dressed as a lawyer. A 25-year-old woman in Pakistan has cut off the penis of an alleged rapist who attempted to molest her. The police confirmed on Tuesday the the woman in her 20’s used a knife to defend herself after a man stormed her house in the central province of Punjab and tried to rape her. ”She narrated to us that she was alone at home when the man broke in and tried to rape her. ”She ran to the kitchen during the struggle , grabbed a knife and then cut off his penis when he again tried to assault her.” He added that the 28-year-old man is presently being treated at the hospital in the city of Faisal Abad Ilyas added that the suspect will be interrogated once he becomes better According to Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, hundreds of women are raped in Pakistan each year, but those who commit the assaults are not punished due to weak laws and complicated procedures for prosecution, NAN reports. A very rare occurrence was sighted at South Africa’s Kruger National Park on Saturday, when a Safari operator Kurt Schultz in South Africa came across a male baboon carrying and grooming a lion cub as though it was its own baby. “The baboon was grooming the lion cub as if it was a baby baboon. Male baboons do a lot of grooming but the care given to this lion cub was the same care given by a female baboon to one of her own young.” Schultz told the AP. Schultz said he had never seen anything like it during his two-decade career, and he quickly took photographs of the rare display. A video of the sight was also posted to Instagram and has since received more than 126,000 views. The baboon was part of a larger troop that was in an area with granite hills and boulders where lions and leopards typically hide their cubs when they go hunting, he told the outlet, and this is how the cub was likely found. When he initially spotted the baboons, they seemed “excited” and were likely fighting over the cub. He believes the cub may have been injured during the commotion. More in Home “[Baboons] are really strong animals and when they were all excited and fighting over the baby in the beginning, it could have been injured internally,” Schultz said, adding that the cub showed signs of dehydration that morning. “[The baboon] moved from branch to branch, grooming and carrying the cub for a long period of time,” he recalled. “The cub seemed very exhausted.” Taking into consideration its weakened state and the nature of baboons, Schultz believes the cub will not survive for long. “I don’t see a chance of this poor cub surviving. The troop of baboons was large and a lion would not be able to get the young back,” he told the AP. “Nature is cruel at most times and the survival of a young predator cub is not easy. The lion cub would pose a threat to the baboons when it gets older.” “I have witnessed baboons viciously killing leopard cubs and have heard of baboons killing lion cubs,” Schultz added. The heartbreaking story of his a young girl was raped multiple times by her father at the age of 11, the act continued till she got pregnant and gave birth at the age of 13. Taking to Twitter, Gauteng Survivors, narrated how the young girl was abused multiple times by her father, and turned into a sex slave by him. Her mother, instead of confronting him, protected the man, and accused the young girl of seducing her father. She got pregnant for him, and this was when the abuse stopped. Recently, we were working on a very terrible, heartbreaking and traumatising case of young girl who suddenly became pregnant at 13 shocking the entire community and family members. When asked who impregnated her she said she had no idea stating that maybe someone had defiled her during her sleep. Being professional we knew it was a cooked up story that someone close to her had told her to say. So we changed strategy and asked her properly she later disclosed that it was her own biological father who took advantage of her every night from the time she was about 11. she narrated that on that fateful day while her mother had gone to sleep at a funeral in the neighborhood, her father came to her bedroom around 20:00hrs tore her clothes and defiled her. He threatened to kill her if she said anything and because she feared her mother so much she was confused and kept quiet. When her mother came back the following day, she never said anything even when the mother asked why she was limping. After 4 days her mother was about to wash the clothes when she found blood on one of her bedsheets. She asked asked her who narrated what the father had done.The mother quickly told her to never speak of such again.She accused her of seducing her father and told her a lot of hurtful words, so she kept quite from that day. The abuse continued and girl lost count of how many times her father abused her.She become a sex slave to her father who would sometimes sneak her from school and and go have sex with her at a nearby bush or Lodge. Her salvation only come when she got pregnant at age 13 shocking the entire community who wanted answers and that’s when the abuse stopped. The relevant authorities stepped in and rescued this little girl from her family to a safe home. She had a very painful delivery, she struggled for hours and only gave birth by to a baby girl. Our little girl is still in a safe home and has since started school. She hates the baby and has refused to breastfeed, I tell you it is but a sorry sight. People, companies donated for her to be safe and ok. There so many times she hides in a corner doesn’t want to eat,go to school, talk, or bath she just cries and we let her because we know it is part of the healing process. She is under serious child counselling and we are hopeful that things will one day turn out good for her. She has trouble sleeping at night thinking the father will come but some days are good she learns how to smile. This is just one case, there so many such cases in our community and as I write this morning a child was sexually abused last night by her own father, her uncle, her brother or her cousin let us all be alert there are our future leaders. We should know that by allowing and hiding rape and defile we are giving power to the perpetrators and would be monsters to harm and destroy the lives of our child. As a mother , surely what will it profit you to experience the pain of labour only to let your husband abuse your own biological daughter so that you can please him , really up to now it still baffles me how you go to bed every night,swallow food, how you can wash clothes and cook or even sleep with your husband knowing he is abusing your daughter, niece or cousin. Women we need to rise up a comfortable life, food or house cannot be compared to your daughters life or future. This year we must deliberately spare time away from our busy schedules,TV, friends or social media to actually check on our daughters, sometimes we must bath our daughters, have a talk with your daughters. In South africa every 3 hours a child is sexually abused, let not your child be part of the 2020 statistics. They say not everything that glitters is gold,some people are rotten inside,they are mad,they are evil, they are rapists and they can harm your daughter be vigilant ,its a nasty, cruel world. when you see a man entering a room with a small girl no matter who they are alert the police or check on them you might just save a life. We all need to take a stand , our girls are crying silent prayers everyday… Be vigilant. This years best graduating student in the political science department, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), has broken a 50-year-old jinx. The student took to Twitter to share his excitement as he became the first student to graduate with the grade from his department in 50 years. Twitter user @abdool_moh graduated with a CGPA of 4.52/5.0, and sharing his amazing result sheet, he wrote; Glory be to God Almighty, My four year journey in ABU Zaria ends with a B.Sc. Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun presided over by Honourable Justice Jide Falola today sentenced Three Armed Robbers to death by hanging. The Convicts are Nuhu Jimoh, Ndubisi David and Aderibigbe Oluwaseun. The accused persons were on 29th June, 2017 arraigned on a ten count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, illegal possession of firearms and others contrary to Section 6(b), 1(1) & (2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11 L.F.N, 2004, Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap. 34 Laws of Osun State, 2002, and Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11 L.F.N, 2004, respectively. The prosecution Counsel from the Ministry of Justice, Barrister Biodun Badiora, in proof of the charge called five (5) witnesses and tendered about 30 Exhibits. The 1st Defendant Nuhu Jimoh testified in his own defence. While 2nd and 3rd defendant Ndubisi David and Adeibigbe OuwaSeun called 3 witnesses each including themselves. It would be recalled that on 12th February, 2016, at about 3:30 pm, armed men, in a coordinated bank robbery, attacked First Bank, Union Bank and Skye Bank, situated along the same street in Ikirun, Osun State, simultaneously. The combined team of Policemen from Iragbiji Police Division, Ikirun Police Patrol Team and Special Anti-robbery Squad, responded to distress call(s) from the scene. On getting to the scene, gun duel ensued between the armed robbers and the Policemen, and the armed gang were dislodged making them to flee in different directions. Investigations revealed that seven members of armed gang were killed by Police at the scene of crime while some others escaped with gunshot injuries. Almost 32 people lost their lives to the incident but only four Corps were deposited at mortuary; two bank officials and two Policemen on Bank guard duty. Seven assorted ammunitions including AK-47 guns, Israeli and Russia made brought to the scene by the armed gang and a sum of Seven Million, Four Hundred and Eighty Six Thousand, Three Hundred Naira taken from the banks were recovered by the Police. The Convicts standing trial were arrested in connection with the said Bank robbery which forced all the Banks to close their branches from operation in Ikirun till date. According to eye witness who is also a Police Officer, S.P Oluwaseyi Adedayo said “Nuhu Jimoh was seen by standing at the junction almost opposite one of the banks holding gun blocking traffic and acting as sentry to cover up for the armed gang”. Police Officers who arrived at the scene with the Police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), got Nuhu injured in cross fire. Another Police Officer attached to one of the Banks Robbed on that day also testified against them in the Court saying he and his co-officers saw Ndubisi hiding his gun on a fridge at the back of one of the banks before he was arrested. Aderibigbe Seun was arrested inside Akinorun Grammar School which was one of the directions some of the armed gang went to, with fresh injuries on him and could not give any reason for his presence. Justice Falola said that prosecution Counsel has proof his case beyond the reasonable doubt hereby found them guilty on charge preferred against them Counsels to the convicts Barrister Sunday Atofarati and Ajibade Omoyajowo pleaded with the Judge to temper justice with mercy. In his judgement Justice Falola Sentenced them to death by hanging, and forfeited gun recovered from gang to the Nigeria Police also forfeited money recovered to the Osun State Government. Jeff Bezos who is already the world’s richest man just got richer, according to a Bloomberg report, his personal fortune increased by over $13.2 billion, increasing his worth to about $129.5 billion. Shares of his Amazon.com Inc. surged 12% to $2,100 in extended trading at 4:16 p.m. in New York, after Amazon’s final quarterly earnings report for 2019 in which the company told investors it managed to achieve $87.4 billion in revenue. Bezos, 56, owns about 12% of Amazon’s outstanding stock, making up the bulk of his fortune. His ownership of closely held Blue Origin accounts for about $6.2 billion. The late surge Thursday added more than $90 billion to Amazon’s market value, pushing it above $1 trillion. One that has caught the attention of many and fasts going viral is the news about a man who has bitten a dog to death in the Volta Region of Ghana. Justice Aflakpui a native of Adafienu in the Volta Region of Ghana has shocked the world as he angrily bites a dog after it bit him and tried to run away after that. The dog after it was bitten by the 45-year-old man screamed loudly until it fell down on the floor and died. “Efo” as he is affectionately called by occupants of Adafienu community was relaxing in his chair sipping some “akpeteshie” to relax his nerves until the dog pounced on him to bite him, “Efo” out of anger and pain held the dog and gave it a bite the it will never forget even in its death lol! a relative of “Efo” gave this information. He further added when narrating the incident to reporters: “He was in pain after the dog bite. Out of anger, he chased the dog that had quickly run to a nearby bush to take revenge.
