Sir Isaac Newton had a friend who was an atheist scientist. Once, the man came in after Newton had just finished making his solar system machine (one of those machines in a science museum where the planets and other heavenly bodies move around as the machine is cranked by a handle).
The man saw the machine and said: “How wonderful!” and went over to it and started cranking the handle and the planets went around.
As he was cranking the machine, he asked: “Who made this?”
Sir Isaac stopped writing and said: “Nobody did!” Then he carried on with his writing.
The man said: “You didn’t hear me! Who made the machine?”
Newton replied: “I told you. Nobody did.”
The man stopped cranking and turned to Isaac: “Now listen Isaac, this marvellous machine must have been made by somebody – don’t keep saying that nobody made it.”
So Newton stopped writing and stood up. He looked at his friend and said: “Now isn’t it amazing? I tell you that nobody made a simple toy like that and you don’t believe me. Yet you gaze out into the solar system – the intricate marvellous machine that is around you – and you dare say to me that no one made that. I don’t believe it!”
The man went away and was believed to be no longer an atheist.

some people dont just have common sense on this forum..... If i committed an offence like some of you think..... Is it my phone that will be seized or me arrested...... This is clear stealing by the police. They will forever be cursed because it is my sweat they took. I laboured to buy that phone.

the mistake i made was not taking note of the policemen names. The dpo was not helpful at all, telling me that it was not his boys. I told him to call all those that where on patrol that friday night but instead he threatened to lock me up. I sat outside the station through out yesterday and today but no result. I went to the area commands office but was denied entry........ An ASP who heard about my case came to me this evening and told me that the dpo was just trying to cover up the case. He said this kind of things has been happening for long but he could not stop it because all the senior officers are in support of it. He told me to just take heart and leave everything to God. He gave me a fairly used nokia torchlight phone and 2k for transport and to retrieve the line in the phone. I just came back tired. The NIGERIAN POLICE are THIEVES except few ones.

Even though ur story is incomplete, complicated and lack facts, trying to make front page shouldn't b the ultimate cus u can b prosecuted for such stories wen eventually arrested. I hope Police CRU takes immediate action on this. Something tells me did something OP

I saw one of the Policemen, he said I should go and bring money to bail the phone....he does not know I was there to see the DPO.

I am just coming back from the station the dpo said I should come back at 1pm that the particular patrol team are not around

Good day Nairalanders, I was coming back from the mosque yesterday night after Isha and Tarawi prayer, I entered a keke napep from Hausa Quarter to Eboh when men of the Nigerian Police Stopped the Keke at warri Main Garage Junction, I was asked to come down as I was the only passenger, They seized my phone and ask me to enter their vehicle to which I refuse and that's how they went with my phone telling me to come to their station this morning. this is nothing but oppression and harassment. The Police Officers are from The A-Division in Warri, their patrol vehicle is white in colour and the phone is an Infinix Hot 2. I have called the Police CRU and they said they will see what they could do.

It's pure extortion.

It's all part of their revenue generation.. You dey find customers/students for your school, you found them and instead of giving them gifts for choosing your institution among others, you then ask them to pay you for allowing and accepting them.

Anyway, it has become a tradition and will never stop. But there should be a regulatory body to be monitoring these fees because most institutions arbitrarily impose any amount they feel like at all times without questioning.

It can be stopped by the necessary authorities.
