3) Fried Plantain chips - Either transformer oil to save cost or vegetable oil + nylon to make it shiny and hard.
4) Fufu - detergent to ferment cassava in hours instead of days.
5) Kpomo - formalin to preserve it further.
6) Fresh fish - Industrial dye.
7) Unripe pineapple and banana - ripening in hours with chemicals.
Mango - ripening overnight by pouring it into smelly gutter water.

Nigerian yam and beans are banned in parts of Europe for containing excess pesticides that farmers used without proper measurement.

We virtually consume these daily, and the result today is unprovoked kidney and liver damage.

Even our vegetables are not safe for consumption.

People keep dying every day from kidney failure.

They have started talking...

Profile: Hidaa Ahmad Ghaddar - Breakthrough Football Academy, Kano
Hidaa Ahmad Ghaddar is a Lebanese-Nigerian football coach and founder of Breakthrough Football Academy in Kano, Nigeria. She has attracted international attention for coaching boys in a part of northern Nigeria where women's participation in football can face strong cultural resistance.

Early life
Ghaddar was born and raised in Kano to a Lebanese family. She started playing football at about five years old, largely with her brothers and their friends. Football became an important outlet for her, particularly because she describes herself as an introvert.

At 16, she moved to Lebanon for university studies. There she encountered women's football more directly and continued developing as a player.

Education and playing career
Ghaddar studied physical education at Antonine University in Baabda, Lebanon. While at university, she was selected for the Lebanese women's futsal team and competed internationally, including at the World InterUniversities Championships in Spain and the World University Championships in Portugal.

After university, she played football for teams in Lebanon, Nigeria and England. However, repeated knee injuries severely affected her playing career. Reports describe four successive knee injuries and five surgeries, eventually forcing her to stop competitive football.

She subsequently moved into coaching, initially working with a youth football club in Lebanon.

Why she returned to Kano
Ghaddar eventually returned to Kano, where she had spent the first 16 years of her life. She became concerned about young boys who were vulnerable to drug abuse, gangs, unemployment and street violence.
One of the boys who influenced her decision was Kabir Abubakar, who had become involved with a youth gang before football provided him with a different direction. Ghaddar decided to use football not merely as sport but as a means of giving young people purpose, discipline and an alternative future.

Breakthrough Football Academy
She established Breakthrough Football Academy in Kano around 2024. The academy began with only six players and subsequently grew substantially; an AFP report published in March 2026 said the number had reached 63 players.

The academy's objectives extend beyond football. Players receive:
- Football training and equipment
- Support intended to help them concentrate on football
- Access to schooling
- English lessons twice a week
-Guidance on nutrition, hydration, sleep and healthy living
- In some cases, accommodation/support through the academy
Mentorship designed to keep them away from drugs and criminal activity
-For players who do not intend to attend university, reports say Ghaddar's family businesses provide employment opportunities while they continue pursuing football.

Breaking cultural barriers
One of the most distinctive aspects of Ghaddar's story is that she is a woman coaching an all-male football team in Kano.
She reportedly had doubts about whether she would be accepted, particularly as a woman wearing a hijab and training boys at the Kano Race Course. Nevertheless, she established herself as the team's coach and became a recognizable figure in the local football community.

An Anadolu/Getty Images report from January 19, 2026 specifically describes her conducting a Breakthrough Football Academy training session in Kano and identifies her as a Lebanese-Nigerian coach supporting at-risk youth through her self-funded academy.

Her coaching philosophy
Ghaddar's philosophy is essentially football + education + character development.
She sees football as a mechanism for giving young people a goal. Her message is that a young person who has structured training, education and a professional ambition has a better alternative to drugs, gangs and street crime.
Her ambition is not simply to win local matches. She has said that one of her biggest dreams is to see one of her players eventually play for a club abroad, particularly in Europe.

International recognition
Her work has received considerable international media attention. The Christian Science Monitor profiled her in November 2025, while AFP published another major report in March 2026. France 24's ActuElles also featured Breakthrough Academy in June 2026.

This means her story has moved beyond a local Kano football story and has become an example of grassroots sport being used for youth development and social intervention.

Why Hidaa Ghaddar's story is unusual

Ghaddar effectively lost her own professional football dream and rebuilt it through other people's dreams.
She grew up playing football in Kano, went to Lebanon at 16, studied physical education, represented Lebanon in futsal competitions and played in several countries. Then serious knee injuries—reportedly requiring five surgeries—ended her playing career. Instead of leaving football behind, she converted her experience into coaching.

She then returned to Kano and built an academy from essentially nothing.
Starting with six players, Breakthrough reportedly grew to 63 players. More importantly, she deliberately designed the academy around the idea that football should keep young people occupied, educated and focused on a legitimate future.

That's what makes the academy particularly interesting: the football pitch is only part of the project.
Ghaddar is trying to create a pathway:
Football → discipline → education → opportunity → professional career
And for players who don't become professionals, the objective is still to give them education, skills, employment opportunities and a constructive community.
Her biggest test was arguably cultural rather than sporting. She entered a football environment in Kano as a woman, wearing a hijab, coaching boys and training at the racecourse. Yet she managed to establish enough credibility for the project to grow.

By 2026, international media were describing her as an unusual and increasingly prominent figure in Kano football. AFP reported that she had become something of a local celebrity, while Anadolu documented her coaching session at Breakthrough Academy in January 2026.

In short: Hidaa Ghaddar's significance isn't just that she is a female football coach. She is building a grassroots football-and-youth-development model in Kano, using the sport that once shaped her own life to give vulnerable young players a different direction.

🔴On a serious note, if tactical confusion was an Olympic event, coachito would be a serious medal contender.
Under his mismanagement, The Super Falcons had no clear identity, no pattern, no blueprint, no winning strategy, and game management was so poor, players were dished in like a raffle ticket to go try their luck.

🟠How did NFF think a man who coached Adamawa United into relegation was what the most successful football team in Africa deserved?. A man who is mentally lazy and has no idea what the players are up to at their clubs? A man who is so physically unfit, docile and lethargic, he can't even engage players in tactical sessions in this day and age should be anywhere around a team with such pedigree??

This is not how champions play. The Super Falcons' performance has been substandard, to say the least. A team cannot go beyond its coach. Every team is a reflection of its coach.
As JM has admitted that he takes full responsibility for the loss, then he should resign honorably.
The NFF chairperson and its technical director must resign immediately.
