Nairaland / General / What Manner Of A Nation Is This? by solaisola(m): 4:17am On May 15, 2018
What manner of a nation is this?

A senator jumped from a police moving vehicle?

Hoodlums abi security personnel (we are not even sure) stole mace while senators are watching.

Senate summoned IG three times, He did not go

Senate has not been able to pass the bill and this is the fifth month of the year

Someone decamps to the ruling party, confesses all his sins while he was in the other party and then he becomes a saint and goes Scot free.

A minister said that the roads in Nigeria are good

Am tired of counting, put your own.

Politics / OSUN Is Drowning, Concerned Citizen Cries Out by solaisola(m): 12:11pm On May 03, 2018
PDP: ITS DANCE TO FAILURE

Osun is drowning. Osun is bankrupt. Tears flow in the land, but PDP is dancing to failure.

The party of Hon Soji Adagunodo, Hon Oluwole Oke, Dr Oludaisi Aina, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, Erelu Olusola Obada Esq, Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji, Dr Olu Alabi, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, Dr Ayantunji, Adelani Ajanaku, Barr. Bamidele Salam, Dr BT Salam, Dr Diran Adigun, Prof Wale Oladipo, Major Towobola (RAT)(rtd), Dr Alidu Tadese, Prof Remi Aworemi, Dr Ayoade Adewopo, Dr Lere Oyewunmi, Dr Kayode Oduoye, Prof Durotoye Adeolu, Engr Jide Adeniji, Sen Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Adejare Bello, Engr Fatai Akinbade, Wale Rasheee,Barr. N.O.O. Oke (SAN), Hon (Barr.) Albert Adeogun, how dare you lift up the spirit of Osun indigenes with the anticipation for success, good governance, economic recovery only to drop the ball and queue up behind the finger of mediocrity all in the name of money.
The PDP has long been tagged as a party of mediocres and charlatans, who care not about the people but their pockets. Is this not what you are proving once again? You parade the above listed names yet the greed the party has been known for has brewed up again. You have queued up behind the finger of money, the disgraceful dancer, the dummy, the shame, the pawn for the impending collapse of PDP, SENATOR NURUDEEN JACKSON ADEMOLA ADELEKE. A man who knows not who he is.
How can a party so loved by the people disappoint its lovers by parading this unintelligent clown who can't even in simple terms explain to his party his profile, and programs he has to emancipate and alleviate the suffering Osun masses. How will your "my brother is rich" nonentity explain his programs to the voting populace? Guess his brother will hire PR professionals to train him ahead of the impending dance to failure.
PDP, please you have prayed. You have been through two years of warfare. You've been strong and gave up your benefits of war to Jackson Nurudeen to go to the Senate. Must he take all the benefits of your struggle? You must have no one else capable. Was your struggle meant for the moneybag of the country home in Ede, the business man set to revenge his brother's death through another brother he knows is incapable?
Osun wants to change this terrible change APC brought upon us, we are ready for PDP but definitely not for the dancer. Heed or fail. God bless Osun.

My name is Sikiru Fabunmi from Oke Ila, a concerned Osun citizen and lover of PDP.

Politics / Next Osun Governor... Mallam Olawale Rasheed by solaisola(m): 11:54am On Apr 25, 2018
Mr. OLAWALE RASHEED #MOR 2018

The world has always craved and looked up to great men. As Shakespeare rightly said, ‘some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. Mr. Olawale Raheed is indeed an enigma of those who achieved greatness. Born on the 2nd of February 1965 right in the heart of Oja Ale at Iwo, Osun State to the family of Chief and Mrs Bilawu Akanji, Mr. Olawale Rasheed henceforth MOR was fortunate to have a father who believed in the free education policy of the Action Group during the early years of politics in Nigeria. As such, the young MOR started his formal education at the District Council School Laito in Iwo. His educational pursuit was marred by several challenges arising from the high level of impoverishment at that time, a fate that befell several achievers born in that era.

However, by dint of hard work and doggedness, MOR round off his secondary education and secured admission to study English at the prestigious University of Ilorin in 1986. Although he turned down the choice of settling for Law as a result of his misconception of lawyers, studying English eventually paid off. It was a befitting course for a vibrant MOR whose literary and intellectual prowess was blossoming by the day. While in the university, MOR whose father was also an astute politician at the grassroots level during the first republic inadvertently found himself towing the same path. He served in various positions in his department and was also the editor of several student journals doing his best possible. What spurred him on was his believe that the price of greatness is responsibility. Therefore, in spite of busy schedules and huge responsibilities as a student, he still graduated with a second class upper degree in 1990.
Thereafter, he proceeded on national youth service to Abuja where his charismatic qualities made him instrumental in the creation of a cooperative society for corps members. Few months after his national youth service, he put in for a master degree in Public Administration in a bid to explore his political ambitions. It is worthy of note that MOR almost cut short his post graduate programme as a result of its huge financial demands but for the timely intervention of a close associate.
From being a committed teacher in the Oyo State civil service to becoming the private secretary of Chief Abiola Ogundokun and his eventual stint at Third Eye Newspapers where he became a force to reckon with, MOR’s life stresses that success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency and consistent hard work leads to success. Developing himself to become invaluable in his career, he joined the renowned Tribune Newspaper and rising through the ranks to become a regional editor. His resourcefulness and goodwill earned him various political appointments with the most recent as special assistant to the minister of state for power in 2014.

MOR is a man of many sides. Aside his successful career, he is the doting husband of Mrs. Tolulope Olawale, a father and a devout Muslim. He is also a mediapreneur and publisher of Sahel Standard Newspaper. As a man that understands that the greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively, MOR he has founded several non-profit organizations, one of such is The Olawale Rasheed Foundation. In sum, MOR is epitomizes the virtues of success, hard work and diligence. Therefore, in the search of great men with a Midas touch to turn things around, we need not look far as we are blessed with one from the ancient town of Iwo in person of MOR (Mr. Olawale Rasheed).
