Politics / Re: Obj - Controversal Or Confussed? by solange(f): 5:27pm On Apr 20, 2006
hi Ashiwaju, if u took the time to read what i have said, i agree with u on the whole third term issue, " i think it is ludacris and an abuse of power." also, i see frustration in ur tone and it also sound like u know what u're talking about, i will like to point out that we are on the same side of this argument.

with that said, I consider myself a true Nigerian whether or not i'm in the country at the moment, infact, i believe the fact that i'm not in the country gives me an objective point of view. because i don't directly feel the impact of the situation, i can objectively separate logic from emotion, a lot of Naija's in naija are speaking from a place of frustration and they just want to see some change.

in my earlier post, i said "we have to understand that it is up to us Nigerians to take a stand,  that's what democracy is about. exactly what needs to be done, i don't know,  but I know for sure, Something needs to be done." This is my main point.

i'm a Nigerian but i haven't lived in the country for about 6-7 years so i'm not at the fore-front of all the palava, and from what i've heard from friends and ppl on this forum, Nigeria doesn't seem to be getting better, for the people anyway.

As for controversal or confused, i think the Obasanjo is Calculating.

Yes he's been in office for 7 years and not much has changed for the people, some even say it's gotten worse. Did anyone Know that Nigeria's Debt to the IMF has been forgiven? over $30billion. this happened recently and it was a long process. Also, he's been doing a lot of PR with the UN and Nigeria is gaining more favor with the international world.

I believe the world is slowly becoming a global community and the more allies u have the better.

with that said i think this third term issue is ludacris, i believe he has slowly, very slowly started paving the way for a better Nigeria, even tho the progress hasn't trickled down to the masses yet, but the economy of Nigeria will slowly improve with the debt erased, and international favoring, also, Nigeria has many investment opportunities for international business which will come about soon.

it's like a pyramid it has to get better from the top down, people would like to believe that the sign of a good economy is when everyone is rich, however, everyone can only do well if the economy is doing well. take the US for example, the most powerful country in the world (in theory anyway) back in the days of Clinton life was good, but now that the economy is becoming shitty, you have more angry people and problems. I digress,

I think a third term is blatant abuse of the constitution and power, however, it is going to happen if we don't do anything about it. as i mentioned earlier, Obasanjo is in the favor of the international world so all he has to say is that he's started on the progress and bringing in someone new may not be the best thing for Nigeria in the sense that it may bring us back to Square one,

we have to understand that it is up to Us Nigerians to take a stand, that's what democracy is about. exactly what needs to be done, i don't know, but I know for sure, Something needs to be done.

P.S: to Danmasani most Nigerian's Abroad don'r just "sit there, make their money and have a funfilled time" as u so eloquently put it, we're here working our asses off just to get by, it is so not a bed of roses, as most Nigerian's in naija think it is.
Romance / Re: Nigerian Girls In The U.S. Are Lonely by solange(f): 3:54pm On Apr 20, 2006
Yemstar, 2 cent's ke that was like a whole dollar, grin anyhue, i agree with u o. Nigerian women don't HAVE to date Nigerian Men. There is a whole smorgasbord of men out there. whatever happened to the "there's a lot of fish in the sea" philosophy?
Romance / Re: What With Unattached Ladies? by solange(f): 3:29pm On Apr 20, 2006
ok scondy, you have to be specific, do u mean not dating anyone as per not having a serious relationship (boyfriend) or just not dating period.

if u're talking about the former, i believe it's not necessary to have a boyfriend, boyfriend , go out have fun, and date, dates are always fun, besides, take me for example, i have too much on my plate at the moment to be thinking about someone else, i'm at my doing me phase now and not ready to settle down, so i say, date, have fun and have the ccasional booty call, and once u're ready for something serious, go for it.

however, if u're talking of the latter, just not dating period, then i hope it's by choice. And if the thing is that u've never had a guy, then it's just like sex, u can't really truly miss what u've never had.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Why Did Adolph Hitler Hate Jews So Much? by solange(f): 2:04pm On Apr 20, 2006
The first step to understanding why Hitler hated jews so much is to understand that the man was a raging Paranoid Psychopath. The Jews didn't do anything to him personally, but he believed that they were a powerful enemy and a  lower race than he was therefore, they had to be exterminated.

Also, research from Britanica has proven that he actually had breeding farms in Germany where volunteer teenage girls were impregnated by blond, blue-eyed SS- men, to bear children for the Fuhrer . . . the man was trying to play God, he wanted to create a new world order. There is no other way to explain it than to just come to terms with the fact that he was a Psycho that had Absolute power,

Didn't some old dead guy back in the day once say, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
