Pets / Checkout The Top 10 Most Intelligent Animals On Earth ( Number 9 Will Shock U) by sollysms(m): 12:11pm On Apr 27, 2017
Hello Nairalandianzz, you will discover an amazing and amazing fact about the 10 Most Intelligent Animals whose facts and discoveries will leave you with your jaws dropped.

1. Chimpanzees
Chimpanzees and humans are remarkably similar, sharing about 99% of our DNA. Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives, and like humans, live in social communities and can adapt to different environments. They can also learn sign language.

Chimpanzees can walk straight on two legs if they choose, and while they are mostly vegetarians, they consume meat (as well as eggs and insects) occasionally.

Chimpanzees make and use tools, such as stones to open nuts and leaves to absorb drinking water. They reach breeding age at about the same time as humans – 13 for women and 16 for men.

2. Bottlenose dolphins
Bottlenose dolphins are one of the powerful species of the animal kingdom that can use vocal learning to develop their own vocal signature. At the beginning of life, each dolphin creates its own vocal whistle that gives it an individual identity.

Because each whistle is unique, dolphins can get along by imitating the whistle of a dolphin they want to communicate with. This is the equivalent of calling you by name.

Many dolphins establish strong social attachments and will stay with injured or sick members of the group, helping them to the surface of the water so that they can breathe if necessary. There are also dolphin reports that protect human swimmers from sharks by swimming around them or by rushing to shark the sharks.
Dolphins have also been known to team up with humans to catch fish. They drive fish to the shore, where fishermen wait to throw their nets. The dolphins tell the fishermen when it is time to throw their nets, then they snatch the fish that do not do it in the nets.

3. Elephants
The brain of elephants is larger than the brain of any other terrestrial animal, and the cortex has as many neurons as a human brain.

The ability of elephants to learn is impressive, and they are also aware – they can actually recognize themselves in mirrors!

In nature, these highly social animals demonstrate their usefulness, compassion and empathy.

Their trunks and feet generate seismic activity that allows them to communicate with each other on a wide variety of subjects.

Elephants are probably the only large terrestrial mammals that communicate with seismic signals.

4. African gray parrots
Known as the Einsteins of the world of parrots, the African Grays are very intelligent. Studies have shown that birds possess abstract and inferential reasoning abilities. They seem to have some understanding of causality and use it to reason about the world. The African Grays also show their intelligence with their counting and vocalizing abilities.

According to Lafeber:

“Most bird watchers believe that only experienced bird enthusiasts must keep a gray, they are complex, sensitive, and more than a little challenging parrots, they are also charming and brilliant, but this combination of sensitivity And brain can lead to behavioral problems They are creatures of habit, and even a small change of routine can make an unhappy gray sensitive.

5. Rats
The ability to think is called metacognition, and a few years ago scientists discovered that rats, like humans, can make decisions based on what they do or do not know.

Studies also show that rats are surprisingly conscious, they are chatty, and they dream like we do. Domestic animal rats are extremely social and form strong bonds with their owners.

They learn their names and come when they are called, and they ask for time to get out of their cage to play and interact with their owners.

6. Crows
The brain of a raven is roughly the size of a human thumb, which is enormous in relation to its body size. This puts their intelligence at the primate level and gives them the ability to solve complex problems.
Scientists have discovered that crows recognize and remember individual human faces. The different areas of a raven’s brain light up when they consider a person perceived as friendly or threatening.

An 8-year-old girl in Seattle, Washington and her mother feed crows visiting their backyards. In return, the crows bring them gifts. The little girl has a carefully cataloged collection of more than 70 jewels that her corpine friends left on her bird food, including earrings and the charm of a “best friend.”

7. Dogs
When it comes to canine companions, “intelligent” means different things to different people. Some people think that an obedient dog is smart, while others think a dog with his mind is smarter. Very pleasant dogs are considered to be intelligent according to most human standards.

Humans judge the intelligence of dogs based primarily on the speed with which they learn to obey our commands, their performance and whether they are able to learn human-like objects as objects of identification.

Because dogs have lived in humans for so long and have suffered so much domestication, some scientists believe that they are more like humans than even chimpanzees – and could serve as a model for understanding human social behavior.

8. Pigeons
Studies show that pigeons are able to learn abstract mathematical rules and in fact are the only ones other than rhesus monkeys with ability. These highly battered birds also have the ability to make extremely intelligent choices and have very advanced pigeon problem solving skills.
Pigeons are also able to recognize individuals, probably by their facial features.

9. Pigs
According to some experts, pigs are among the smartest and cleanest pets around – more than cats and dogs. (The reason why pigs roll in the mud is not because they like to be dirty, but because they do not have sweat glands and the mud helps them to refresh).
Researchers who have studied pigs have learned that they have excellent long-term memories, easily solve the labyrinth, can understand simple symbolic language, like to play and play-fight, learn to use a joystick to move A cursor on the screen, and use a mirror to find hidden food.

10. Octopus
Octopuses have the biggest brain of any invertebrate. The common octopus has about 130 million neurons in its brain. A human has 100 billion. However, three-fifths of the neurons of an octopus are not in the brain; They are in his arms. Each arm has its own mind, so to speak, and if it is cut off (which the octopus can regrow), will walk and even cling to the food while remaining attached.
Health / Facial Skin Care – Effective Routines You Must Know by sollysms(m): 1:20pm On Feb 09, 2017
Facial skin care is more a matter of discipline than anything else. A facial skin care routine is what you need (and you need to follow the facial skin care routine with complete seriousness). So let’s check what comprises an effective facial skin care routine. Well, very simply, a facial skin care routine can follow the following 4 steps:

* Cleansing
* Toning
* Exfoliating
* Moisturising

Cleansing is the first thing in facial skin care routine. Cleansing helps in removing dust, pollutants, grease and extra oil from your skin, thereby preventing damage to your skin. Just spot your face and neck with a good cleansing lotion or cream and gently massage it into your skin using upward strokes. Use a soft face tissue or cotton wool to wipe your face in a gentle patting fashion (do not rub). Cleansing should be done at least twice a day i.e. morning (as part of complete facial skin care routine) and evening (on a standalone basis). Water soluble cleansers are the best for inclusion in your facial skin care routine.

Read This:- Tips To battle Skin Dryness

Toning is the next in a facial skin care routine. However, this is the optional part of the facial skin care routine. Mostly, proper cleansing can compensate for toning. Toning helps remove all traces of dirt, grease and excess cleanser. Instead of making it part of your daily facial skin care routine, you can using toning occasionally i.e. when you have been exposed to particularly harsh environment/pollution.

Exfoliation is again, kind of, optional step in everyday routine for facial skin care. However, exfoliation is necessary at least once a week (or twice, depending on the skin type and the environmental conditions). Exfoliation finds its place in facial skin care routine because of the natural tendency of skin to replenish the skin cells every 3 or 4 weeks. As a facial skin care technique, exfoliation helps in removing the dead skin cells that block the pores, thus assisting the skin in the natural process. However, excessive or harsh exfoliation can cause damage to your skin; so you need to balance it out.

The next thing in facial skin care is moisturising. In fact, moisturising is the most important part of facial skin care routine. Moisturisers prevent your skin from getting dry. Dry skin is really undesirable since it cause the upper layer skin to break, leading to dead skin cells. Again, use light upward strokes to make the moisturiser more effective. Moisturisers work the best when applied on warm and damp skin. So do not try to remove all the moisture in the previous steps of facial skin care routine.

Besides the normal facial skin care routine, you should also exercise the following for facial skin care:

* Use proper make-up remover instead of just washing it away
* Pay heed to your skin type and the environment, when choosing facial skin care products.
* Before you start using a new facial skin care product, test it by applying it on a short patch of skin e.g. ear lobes.
* Never rub your skin too hard.
* Use sunscreen lotions for protection against sun.

While appealing for journalists’ cooperation in sensitising the public, Ileke, lamented that Nigeria is among the countries having high number of measles cases in the world and second in Africa.

Politics / BREAKING News: President Buhari Sends Corrected 2016 Budget To National Assembly by sollysms(m): 3:52pm On Jan 19, 2016
The 2016 National budget which generated a lot of controversy last week after senators said the documents presented by the president were missing, has been corrected and presented again today.

President Buhari presenting the original buget to the senate in December 2015
According to an exclusive report from Premium Times, President Muhammadu Buhari has formally sent amendments to the 2016 budget to the National Assembly.

It was revealed that a letter from the president notifying lawmakers of the ‘corrections’ was read today, January 19th by the senate president, Bukola Saraki, during senate plenary. A document containing the corrections was attached to the letter.
It was also learnt that the president in his letter said the ‘draft bill remains the same and there are no changes in figures.’

The letter reads: ‪
“It will be recalled that on Tuesday, 22 December, 2015, I presented my 2016 budget proposals to the joint sitting of the national assembly. I submitted a draft bill accompanied by a schedule of details.

At the time of submission, we indicated that because the details had just been produced, we would have had to check to ensure that there were no errors in the detailed breakdown contained in the schedule.

That has since been completed and I understand that the corrections have been submitted.

The national assembly would therefore have the details as submitted on the 22nd and a copy containing the corrections submitted last week. It appears that this has led to some confusion.

In this regard, please find attached the corrected version. This is the version the national assembly should work with as my 2016 budget estimates. The draft bill remains the same and there are no changes in any of the figures.”
Mr. Saraki asked the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, to ensure the copies of the corrected document are circulated today, Tuesday, so that the Senate will start debate on Wednesday.

Education / How I Got Scammed Looking For A Job – Nigerian Graduate Narrates Experience by sollysms(m): 3:43pm On Jan 19, 2016
Read the dramatic but touching story of the victim of a well-planned fraud:
Many of my mates dreamt to be posted to great places during their NYSC. No one wants to be a cast away, likewise me. I wanted to be settled before my service. I want to get a job. Not just ordinary job for that matter. Na better job I want so I hoped and wished to be posted to a place with great opportunities.

October 2015 came. I printed my call-up letter and saw that I was posted to Rivers state. I was so happy. My family was so happy. I was glad because it was Rivers state, a land of so many opportunities. I had high hopes. My blood was so hot to get into camp and get out so I can be posted to oil firm.

But the unfortunate came up, that it’s a policy that all corps members were headed to classroom. None would be posted out of the classroom except they were into medical line or lawyer. And I studied Industrial Chemistry. “So na teach I go teach,” I thought to myself. But I had no choice. I had to switch plans since I had made up my mind that I will be settling down in Port Harcourt after service. I thought of having a good and well-paying job, even conducting tutorial classes for students just to make money during the service year. During the SAED programs in camp, I collected contacts of some of the facilitators and company owners. All was just networking if they will help me after camp.

The Passing out parade (POP) in camp came. But it was unfortunate when I saw my posting letter. I was posted to Asari Toru local Government, and the PPA was Angulaman. Immediately, I saw it, I was weak. I made inquiry about my PPA and I discovered it was a riverine area. I wasn’t happy at all. All my hopes of been posted to an oil firm had been dashed. Infact it looked as if all those great dreams I had in camp had been shattered. “I thought if it would be possible to change it I will just do that.” It was possible but with good reasons.

After leaving the camp, I visited my PPA, Angulama. I had to cross two rivers before getting there. Infact when I got there, I began to weep. No strong browsing network, light sef no dey. This one na village. The school sef wey dem post me no dey exist sef. The kids there sef, one has to be begging them to come to school, “chaiii, loveth you don surfer for your life,” I thought to myself. I felt as a female corper, I can’t cope there.

When I resumed fully at my PPA. Me and my fellow corpers had to be going from house to house in that community. We were going to beg parents to release their kids to come to class.

After a week, I was so tired of the community. I was going out to Port harcourt to withdraw money from ATM. I entered the boat and another passenger who said he was an indigene of the Angulama community began chatting with me. He said he had been noticing me in that community, that the way I dress doesn’t just suit me as a corper teacher in that community. And truly, my fellow corp members had told me same. One even said I do dress to kill. But do i! I didn’t think so because I bought couple of beautiful clothes before going to camp, thinking I would be posted to a great firm so my dressing would be so effective. When my corper leader officer (CLO) was even saying that I shouldn’t be dressing too corporate in that kind of village.

So the indigene man was telling me that he really admired the way I always dress to school even when the school sef doesn’t exist, and no students in the classroom. I smiled and thanked him so well. He said I don’t deserve to be in that community with that kind of my cute and great dressing. I laughed, wetin man fit do! I told the man that even though I didn’t like the place but I have no other choice. He said his name is Mr. Wene and he stays in Port Harcourt. He said he came to check his house and was going back to Port Harcourt. He said with that my fine cooperate dressing, I can fit into all those big organizations. I laughed and jokingly told him that I don’t mind if he could link me to any big organization. He laughed too and told me he can do it. And, I really appreciated that as we chatted and he told me all his exploits and great men he had and is working with. And I believed me. I saw him as a genuine and sincere guy. Infact as he was saying it, I was happy that I have found a helper, someone that will connect and link me to great and big players in Port Harcourt. He looked genuine and somehow rich. And I saw him as a God sent agent. He even paid my transport fare to Port Harcourt and we exchanged contacts before leaving to our various destination.

After my transaction in Port Harcourt, I had to rush down to my PPA to work on my CV. Throughout that weekend I and Mr. Wene talked so much on phone. He said there was a job offer that came up in Trans Amadi and it was a multinational company that has their Headquarters in Texas, U.S. The company deals in chemicals. He said if I don’t mind him linking me because he knows a friend who is an insider. I was so happy about it. “Even if say e reach N70,000 wey them dey pay I go just ghost my NYSC,” that was my thought. I asked him the name of the company, he said he won’t tell me that moment as he laughed on phone. I smiled and took it as a joke. He asked me to send my CV to him through email so he could forward it to them. I had to remind him that there was no browsing network. “Ok kkk,I remember,” he said. He said he would be coming next weekend so I should prepare the hardcopy of my CV, so when he’s going back to Port Harcourt he will take it. I was just so happy as I gave a colleague of mine to help me print out the CV in Choba.

The next weekend came and I gave Mr. Wene my CV. I felt I was close to my breakthrough. Mr. Wene assured me that I shouldn’t bother myself and, that I will get the job, and he had already told his insider about me.

Few days later I received a call from someone who said his name Emmy. He said he was calling me from I&Q American chemical company in Port Harcourt and my CV was sent to their company that I am interested in one of the vacant positions. Na so I tell am “Yes.” Emmy said since I studied industrial chemistry, the position that they would fit me as an industrial junior manager in the company. “Chaiii, na so I happy ooo.” I told him that wouldn’t be a problem. He asked if I would like to work with them. “Chaii, that question no make sense. Who wan reject that kind offer.” Na so I shout “Yes I will.” Na so he tell me say he go call back later. After the call, I was so happy. I felt I was going to win a jackpot. I felt my life was about to change for good.

3 days later Emmy called me and said the next day would be my oral phone interview and I should prepare for it.

The next day came and I was called by a female worker from that company. She asked me couple of questions like my name, why I want to work with them and my goals. I answered them to the best of knowledge. She told me that the company would get back to me.

2 days later, Emmy called and told me that I was successful and they would be expecting me to resume in the next 2 weeks. I was so happy as he told me that my salary was N80,000. “Chaii, see as i just dey happy.” This one na total ghosting for NYSC since I have gotten a good job. After the call, I called my family back at home that I had gotten a job in a multinational company in Port Harcourt. Na so them happy for me. But yet, I was yet to know were, address of the company in Trans Amadi axis of Port Harcourt. I didn’t even know more about the company.

A day later I called Emmy to know how far about my job offer. He told me there was a new development. That I was supposed to come to the company to sign and fill some forms but it has to cut short because the organization is trying to give another person the job. Immediately I heard that, na so my heart fly commot. Wetin I don already happy. I had called so many people that I had gotten a good job. “Na im devil wan pour sand sand for my garri.” I began begging him to help so I won’t loss that kind of opportunity. Emmy said the main thing was because I didn’t pay for the job application fee. I asked how much was the application fee. He told me it was N10,000. And I began wondering why and how people pay for job application fee! I didn’t want to lose that job. I told Emmy that I am a corper and I didn’t have that kind of money. He said he couldn’t do anything about it. I called Mr. Wene to tell him about the new development. Mr. Wene said he would get back to me so he could contact some executives.
Few minutes later Mr. Wene called me. He said that I was even supposed to pay N20,000 that of his influence it was reduced to N10,000. He said I should try to pay the money, that that is how they do it. If not, I will lose the job. Na so I begin find money oo. The little money I had was not enough. I had to borrow more money from my colleagues to complete the N10,000 within 24 hours. After raising the money, I called Emmy. Na there the bobo come tell me say I go pay the money into their account so they would process it before I can come to their office. A colleague of mine going to Port Harcourt, I gave her the N10,000 to pay in to the account Emmy sent. It wasn’t even a company’s account number. It was a personal account number. After the payment, Emmy even called to confirm they have gotten the alert.

2 days later, Emmy called and said that I should come with my original documents to their office in Port Harcourt. He gave me the address which was located in Trans Amadi. Na so I the next day I dress wella come go trans Amadi axis, with the address Emmy gave to me. I looked for the company and the place but couldn’t find it. I asked people but everyone said they don’t know or even heard about the company. I tried calling Emmy’s number but it was telling me “the line was switched off.” I called Mr. Wene, same thing. Till date, their numbers had been switched off.
It was all dawned on me that I had been duped. I came to realize that the I&Q company doesn’t exist. I even came to realize that I wasn’t the conly corper who fell for that kind of trap. So many corpers were victims of this kind of this fraud. I wanted to report the matter, Mr Wene to the community chief in in my PPA but I was told not to go because I am just a corper in that community and I might just been in danger. Couple of my friends were blaming me because I was so greedy and gullible. Truly, I was gullible.

Marrying your partner is a monumental moment in your life. You are committing to be by your significant other’s side through both good and bad times. It is a lifelong promise that you should give serious thought to before proposing. A great way to ensure you and your partner are meant to be is by assessing your relationship and the qualities it possesses.

In a Hitched article, Lisa Brookes Kift, MFT, explains there are several qualities that play an important role in healthy relationships. Friendship, humor, communication, affection, and reliability are a few of the traits that signify whether you and your partner have a strong foundation.
In addition, there are several questions you should ask yourself before marrying your significant other. To ensure you and your partner are ready to commit to each other for life, here are three questions to consider before marriage.

1. Are you ready to care for her in sickness and health?
This question puts your interests in perspective. If you truly love her, you’ll be willing to stay with her through illness and aging. This question is revealing of a man’s inclination toward sacrificial love. Sacrificial love means that the needs of your partner come before your wants.
If you are willing to endure suffering for the good of your partner and for the strength of your relationship, you have something special that can withstand the test of time and the pressures of society.

2. Do you have similar intellectual curiosity?
One thing that can be devastating to a relationship is a difference in intellectual curiosity. Warm and fuzzy feelings may mask this discrepancy for a short time, and often even long enough for a couple to go through with marriage. But when the honeymoon goggles come off, noticing an intellectual gap can spell certain misery.

If you prize intellectual rigor, aren’t content with face value, and need to dig deeper into truth, there is a wife out there who shares those same qualities. If you can see yourself banging your head against the wall and lamenting that you cannot have a proper philosophical discourse with your beloved, then seriously consider the arrangement.

3. What’s your lifestyle like?
Imagine your perfect day. Go from start to finish, and then retrace that same day with your future spouse. Your partner would want to share your perfect day with you, just as you would with her. Serious differences in lifestyle can be subtly overwhelming sources of tension between you and your spouse. If you are a fitness enthusiast and your wife is a couch potato, you’ll be setting yourself up for disappointment when you wish she’d be active with you, or vise versa.

To go along with lifestyle: Is she neat or messy? Is she health conscious or no? Is she a night owl while you’re an early riser? None of these amount to deal breakers by themselves, but when you ask these questions you get a broader picture of your compatibility as marriage partners.

Of course it is impossible to find someone who matches every little category you could possibly imagine. But it is important to discover your deal breakers and red flags now, because if you jump into a marriage and have children, you’ll have no easy opportunity to simply back out and start fresh.

Celebrities / See What Daddy Freeze Of Cool FM Said About Abia Governor Who Gave An Old Woman by sollysms(m): 2:04pm On Jan 12, 2016
Governor of Abia state who was recently sacked in court, has hit the headlines once again for controversial reasons following an encounter with an aged woman.

Daddy Freeze (left) at the Cool FM studio
Popular Cool FM Lagos radio personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze has joined the growing number of people criticizing Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, who was pictured giving a poor old woman a mere N1000.
Below is what he posted on Instagram;

“Generous Abia state governor hailed for giving old woman 1k. Hmmmm…..
Questions:
1.How is this going to affect her life over the course of the next one week, one month, one year?
2. How much is that again in dollars?
3. Why take a picture giving away 1k?
4. Are Nigerians ever going to see the big picture?
Comments:
Do you see wall between both people? A wall clearly emphasized by that body guard? Some people give out millions everyday in school fees, surgical procedures etc and don’t get ‘pictures’ in the media. Gov Fayose would at least have come down from that vehicle, helped the woman cut her fish or peel her oranges then given her some money instead of giving just 1k from the comfort of his SUV and the protection of his guards. #NotImpressed #NigeriaNeedsMore #NigeriaDeservesBetter
Advice:
Dear Governor,
Kindly come out of that wretched car and walk among those people.
#PoorPeopleDontBite #TheyVotedYouInSir #SwissPresidentUsesTheTrain #NigerianMinistersShouldUsePublicTransport.”

Education / The Words +-- Must Read By All, It's 2016 by sollysms(m): 9:25pm On Jan 09, 2016
Buffalos kill 7 people every year.
Lions kill 500 people every year
Hippos kill 800 people every year.
Spiders kill 5000 in people every year.
Scorpions kill 7000 people every year.
Snakes kill 10000 people every year.

Guess what?

Mosquitoes kill 2.7 million people every year.
The smallest are the deadliest.

Small 'sins', hardly noticed by many, are the most deadly to your spiritual life.

Avoid excuses for not praying and allotting few moments of your day to your Creator.

Sins of omission are just as deadly as sins of commission.

White lies, gossiping, small lies, are committed more frequently and are deadly.

Mind those little compromises that you do daily.

They are the ones that will bring your downfall.

Successful people have two things on their lips, "Smile and silence".
Smile can solve problems, while Silence can avoid problems.

Sugar and salt may be mixed together
But ants reject the salt and carry away only the sugar.

Select the right people in life and make your life better and sweeter.

If you failed to achieve your dreams, change your ways not your Creator.

Remember, trees change their leaves, not their roots.

You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.

Haters will see you walking on water and say it's because you can't swim.

Even if you dance on water, Your enemies will accuse you of raising dust.

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your own hands.

Remember Don’t ever wrestle with a pig. You’ll both get dirty, but the pig will enjoy it.

Be wise and be smart...........
