PoliticsRe: Buhari Barred From Entering Suleja by soloj1(m): 2:15pm On Apr 22, 2011
I mentioned the following distinction in an earlier post, I reckon it is still relevant here:

'Northerners' is a relative term. We have the-
1, Geographical North;
2. The Economic North;
3. The Political North and
4. The Religious  North.
Unfortunately, the distinction between the Political and the religious north is very slim as far as the muslims are concerned. There is no separation between politics and religion.
Lets cut to the chase and call a spade a spade. Its high time we told ourselves the hard truth. -The northern hausa- fulani muslims( fundamentalist, extremist, or otherwise) have and will always be our collective problems.
That's it!
History has given us more than enough proofs. We are not blind anymore, the time of ignorance is long past.
So next time you say north/northerners, remember the distinctions.''

FamilyRe: Inter-religious Relationships/marriages? by soloj1(m): 10:19pm On Apr 02, 2011
When it comes to interpersonal relationships, especially marriage; the christian is commanded to not be ''unequally yoked together with unbelievers : for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?,  or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?, '' 2 Cor. 6:14-16
Many so-called christians have ignored the above scriptures and realized too late that the instructions was meant for their protection and preservation. They eventually made a shipwreck of their faith.
Tinubu and Fashiola's wives example in southern  Nigeria are the few exceptions not the rule. Up-north in Nigeria, many homes were destroyed from family pressure and or coercion in this matter. Like one of the N/lander said- 'let every one stick to his/her kind'.  And oh yes, 'a stitch in time saves nine!'

I reckon the said woman-pastor wasn't really a pastor in the first place. There are quite a handful of them out there who have actually called themselves into the ministry, instead of being called by God.
Perhaps she was called but lost her calling. In either case, she just demonstrated by her fruit that she was a 'hireling' who exploits the sheep for her selfish reasons, instead of a 'true shepherd' who will even die- if need be, for the sheep. Judgment has indeed started in the house of God.
We are watching. shocked shocked

Thank God for the various contributions of fellow N/landers on this subject. It pays to be humble and that's when we can be teachable. We should speak to, and or ask God questions, He is faithful, He will be found by those who deligently seek Him. We all should read the Bible uninterruptingly, from Genesis to Revelations many times over. It may be tedious but it is worth it. Many seemingly dificult questions will become clearer. One of the mediums through which God speaks to us is via His word: He will teach and guide the true seeker. One more thing- Read Lots of Christian Books. I personally find the following books inspired and very helpful;- (1) The Final Quest and (2) The Call -by Rick Joyner. (3). Divine Revelations Of Heaven, (4). Divine Revelations Of Hell. (5). Divine Revelations Of The Spirit Realm- All Three by Mary K. Baxter.
Christianity EtcRe: The Story Of Jos Killings In The Bible by soloj1(m): 12:30pm On Mar 23, 2010
Human actions have consequences, positive or otherwise.
, the wages of sin is death, Rom.3:23.
When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they introduced death into the human race and they were thrown out of Eden.
When cain killed Abel, he was banished from his family and God's presence. When the imaginations and deeds of the humans were continualy evil, God wiped the ancient world with a flood and only Noah and his family found favour with God and were saved. Of His volition, He chose to raise a seed and bless nations out of Abraham the father of faith, through whom His plan of salvation might be revealed. God promised to bless those who bless Abraham, to curse those who curse him and gave him the land of Canaan for his possession.                                                                                                             In that dispensation, anyone,  individual or nation that stood against Abraham and his seed were cursed. Gen.12:2. The children of guilty parents were guilty and God visits the iniquity of the parents on the children. God punished the Egyptians after about 400 years of oppressions, misery and death of the Isrealites. The last plague saw the death of all the first male-born of humans and animals in Egypt. God rained fire and brimestone on wicked Sodom and Gomorrha,  Isreal were punished, even with death too, when they contravene His Laws. Yes, the whole world (men, women and children) stood guilty before the most holy God. My fellow n/lands have talked about God's preceding and subsequent plans as revealed in the Bible for anyone to read.

Rom 9:14-16
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
KJV

Rom 9:19-24

19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
KJV Luke 13:1-5

Lets focus on what Jesus said here  :-
13:1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?

3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

First, the quoted passage has nothing to do with the Jos killings and was lifted out of context. God commanded Moses to tell the Isrealites to go to war with five kings of the midianites! Unlike the Jos genocide, this was a war! All the five kings who were later caught and killed were all armed and ready for the war. The Jos victims were attacked while they were asleep. Secondly, the Isrealites were chosen by God to be set apart from the adulteries, idol worships and corrupting influences of the nations around them. The Midian women have through one, Balaam caused the Isrealites to commit trespass against God and they were punished by a plague. The Isrealites were commanded to kill the women and male children to compensate for the past and prevent a future re-occurrence. Third, before the advent of the Geneva Convention, it was an ancient tradition to kill male children in war!  The reason is obvious,  Ask king Solomon to tell you what 'foreign women'  led him into, sad
