Madam Grace Egbon an elderly lady in Benin City, the Edo capital, has donated a goat to President Muhammadu Buhari to show her admiration for “his selfless lifestyle and passion to liberate the masses.” The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo received the `unique gift’ on behalf of the president. Egbon, a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), registered in Ward 7, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo. She said she had longed to meet the President to show her admiration for his quality of leadership. NAN reports that a window of opportunity opened to Egbon when the President was scheduled to commission the ultra-modern Samuel Ogbemudia College in Benin City, during his just concluded two-day working visit to Edo. She braced the odds and came all the way with her surprise gift to the President which she had kept for the special occasion. “She tore through the thick crowd, making her way straight to the President who at the time had finished the official engagement and was heading for his waiting car. Donald Trump has defied all expectations from the very start of his presidential campaign more than a year ago. Very few people thought he would actually run, then he did. They thought he wouldn’t climb in the polls, then he did. They said he wouldn’t win any primaries, then he did. They said he wouldn’t win the Republican nomination, then he did. Finally, they said there was no way he could compete for, let alone win, a general election. Now he’s president-elect Trump. Here are five ways he pulled off what was unexpected by most and incomprehensible to many. A statement from the White House this morning noted that President Obama has invited President-elect Trump to talk about transition planning, which his team has been working on for nearly a year. Donald Trump will be at the White House on Thursday 10th of November. Below is the tweet from the white house: “Ensuring a smooth transition of power is one of the top priorities the President identified at the beginning of the year and a meeting with the President-elect is the next step,” the statement read. Temitope Balogun Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nation (SCOAN), has fired the blanks on the just concluded US presidential election. “Ten days ago, I saw the new president of America with a narrow win,” he had said. “The new president will be facing several challenges over many issues, including: passing bills, attempts to possibly pass a vote of no confidence on the new president. The boat of the new president will be rocked. “By the way, in order not to keep you in suspense, what I frankly saw is a woman.” The results have shown the very opposite of Joshua’s predictions, which is reminiscent of the 1992 race between George Bush (Snr) and Bill Clinton. http://www.istylmagazine.com/lifestyle/tb-joshua-misfired-on-us-election-and-nigerians-wont-let-him-be/

The morning after Barack Obama was elected, in November 2008, I put the television on in my hotel room in New York to watch the reaction. Fox News was putting on a brave face, though the sourness and anger were barely contained: but MSNBC, an avowedly liberal network, was in a state of almost convulsive ecstasy. As dawn broke a woman, interviewed outside her run-down house somewhere upstate, shed tears while telling an interviewer what the victory meant for her. “I now know,” she sobbed, “that my house won’t be foreclosed on.” I hope she was right: but the evidence of the seven years since Obama the miracle-worker took office suggests she may have been disappointed. America was angry after two terms of George W Bush. Though he could not stand, his party’s candidate would be punished for how Mr Bush and the lunatics around him had made America an international pariah. The financial crisis of 2008 – the collapse of Lehmann Brothers came between the conventions and polling day – was the last straw. I had seen Obama at the primaries, and at the Democrat Convention. I had waited for him to speak intelligently and practically about the state of America and how he would put it right, but I waited in vain. The cliché at the time, which became more relevant later, was about how he campaigned in poetry but would govern in prose. Some prose can be magnificent: but not his. His stump oratory – especially his convention speech, delivered from a preposterous mock-Grecian stage set in Denver – was vacuous. He is clever and has a way with words: but his words contained little. He entranced audiences, first in his own party – which is why he beat Hillary Clinton, arrogant and boring then as now, for the nomination – and then in the wider electorate. John McCain – old, white, Republican and with the media’s hate figure, Sarah Palin, as his running mate – didn’t have a prayer. http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/across-the-world/how-eight-years-of-barack-obama-created-donald-trump/ |
President Barack Obama has urged Democrats of all ethnic backgrounds to get out and vote for Hillary Clinton, warning that the fate of the US republic – and the world – is at stake. He said her Republican opponent Donald Trump was a threat to hard-earned civil rights. President Obama was speaking at a rally in North Carolina. Mr Trump said Mr Obama should stop campaigning for Mrs Clinton and focus on running the country. “The bottom line is, no-one wants four more years of Obama,” he told supporters in Pensacola, Florida. He said Mrs Clinton had become “unhinged” in recent days. “The fate of the republic rests on your shoulders,” President Obama told supporters in the key battleground state of North Carolina. “The fate of the world is teetering and you, North Carolina, are going to have to make sure that we push it in the right direction. “I am not on the ballot, but I tell you what – fairness is on the ballot; decency is on the ballot; justice is on the ballot; progress is on the ballot; our democracy is on the ballot.” The FBI is now investigating new emails that may be linked to its probe into Mrs Clinton’s private email server. http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/across-the-world/us-election-2016-obama-warns-fate-of-world-at-stake/ |

Russia has released the first image of its new nuclear missile, a weapon so powerful that it could wipe out nearly all of the United Kingdom or France. The RS-28 Sarmat thermonuclear-armed ballistic missile was commissioned in 2011 and is expected to come into service in 2018. The first images of the massive missile were declassified on Sunday and have now been published for the first time. It has been dubbed “Satan 2”, as it will replace the RS-36M, the 1970s-era weapon referred to by Nato as the Satan missile. Sputnik, the Russian government-controlled news agency, reported in May that the missile could destroy an area “the size of Texas or France”. Russian media report that the missile will weigh up to 10 tons with the capacity to carry up to 10 tons of nuclear cargo. http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/across-the-world/russia-unveils-satan-2-missile-powerful-enough-to-wipe-out-uk-france-or-texas/ |
The Economic and Financial Crimes has arrested the former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati. Mr Abati is well known for criticizing the APC lead government with several articles released on his website. An official of the commission said on Monday that Abati was brought to the commission’s office in the early hours of http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/politics/popular-critic-of-president-buhari-arrested-by-efcc/#.WA7icuNMFYs.facebook |
I read Reuben Abati’s excellent write-up titled “The Spiritual Side Of Aso Villa” and I concur with his submissions. I worked in the Villa for three years as President Olusegun Obasanjo’s spokesman on public affairs and a lot of gery strange things happened there. Amongst them is the fact that the two people that served as Senior Special Assistant to President Obasanjo on Media and Publicity one after the other, namely the much-loved Mr. Tunji Oseni and then later Mrs. Remi Oyo, both contracted a terrible terminal illness whilst in office and died a few years later. Apart from that many other aides that worked in the Villa at that time were also afflicted with strange dieseases and a suddem and tragic end. Amongst them were Col. Solomon Giwa Amu, Obasanjo’s hard-working and good-looking ADC and Mr. Stanely Macebuh, his brilliant and cerebal Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications. I was so moved by Abati’s piece that I decided to share the following thoughts about the spiritual challenges that those in power have faced. When our President can get up and tell the whole world all the way from distant Germany that his wife “belongs to the kitchen, the living room and the other room” simply because she dared to speak her mind to the BBC then you know that he is in the grip of something evil and that demons are speaking through him. It is all part of the spiritual dimension of living in the Villa that Abati was referring to in his essay. The President’s mind has become twisted and he is now posessed by strange and powerful entities. He needs a lot of prayer. Yet the problem is much bigger and wider than that. When one studies the history of our country critically and takes the time to do the appropriate research, one thing becomes very clear- that, in Nigeria, politics and the power game is a dangerous calling and terrible business which, more often than not, comes with a heavy price tag. That price tag includes pain, anguish, betrayal, humiliation, persecution, misfortune, hardship, loss, death, strange ailments and tragedy for those who reach the top and their loved ones. It is rather like playing Russian roulette- there is one live bullet in the six empty chambers of the pistol and one doesn’t quite know when that bullet will go off when the trigger is pulled. The gamble and risks taken are not only compulsive but they are also addictive and at the same time utterly deadly. Sadly the result is as follows- virtually every single one of our national leaders and those that have ever ruled this country has suffered immeasurably at some point or the other in their lives, whether it be before, during or after they came to power. They too have shed tears in the loneliness of their closets and have eaten portions of what the Bible describes as the ”bread of sorrows”. Yes, even the rich and powerful cry and even they suffer loss and tragedy. http://www.istylmagazine.com/news/politics/reuben-abatis-spiritual-side-of-the-villa-buharis-kitchen-wife-and-the-curse-and-pain-of-power-by-femi-fani-kayode/ |
