Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has commiserated with the family of Dr Chinelo Megafu Nwando and the Nigerian Medical Association over the unfortunate death of Dr Chinelo Nwando who lost her life with other Nigerians in the deadly train attack by bandit terrorists

Dr Chinelo Megafu Nwando reportedly lost her life from injuries sustained from gunshots when the Abuja-Kaduna bound train she was travelling in was attacked by bandit terrorists in the Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna State on Monday night

In a release made available to the press by Joe Anatune, Head of Soludo Media Office, Governor Soludo described the late Dr Chinelo Megafu Nwando as a promising young doctor whose life was cut short in her prime. Soludo lamented the circumstances leading to her death as painful but avoidable.

He called on the need of the security agencies to rejig the nation’s security architecture so that it becomes more proactive to issues of incessant violent attacks on innocent citizens

Governor Soludo also extended his condolences to families of other Nigerians who lost their lives in the attack. He appealed to the federal government to nip in the bud the worsening insecurity in the country which has made the nation insecure and vulnerable to extreme violent attacks by bandits and terrorists

Dr Megafu a talented and skilled dentist was born in Umuase Village, Onitsha, Anambra State.

She had worked as a medical dentist for Kaduna State Dental Centre and previously as a private dentist at the St.Gerrard hospital at Kakuri, Kaduna State

The voices of traders and artisans were roaring loudly all over the streets of Main Market Onitsha, screaming loudly at the top of their voices, “NO MORE AGBERO” as Mr Governor, Prof Charles Soludo and his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim visited Main Market in Onitsha.

The maiden symposium of the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State on March 8, 2022 witnessed a roll call of prominent Nigerians and past leaders in the country

Governor Willie Obiano in his brief remark extolled the qualities of Chief Emeka Anyaoku as an outstanding diplomat. He equally

President Obasanjo in his remarks described Chief Emeka Anyaoku in whose honour the symposium was being held as a great and exceptional diplomat who has made Nigerian proud in the comity of nations.

The former president in reference to the theme of the symposium, asserted that "we must get 'nation building' right in order to make Africa matter in the comity of nations and by extension Nigeria"

He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his warm reception and the infrastructure he has put in place in Anambra State, especially the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport

He extolled the exceptional qualities of Governor-elect Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo as his former Chief Economic Adviser and Central Bank Governor. Obasanjo told the audience that his critics agreed that the appointment of Soludo as CBN Governor during his administration was one of the best appointments he made as President of Nigeria

Prof Jide Osuntokun, Nigerian renowned diplomat who was the keynote Speaker, presented a paper on the theme: "Nigeria in the Comity of Nations".

He lamented the waning influence of Nigeria in the comity of nations in recent times after glorious years in the past as a force to reckon with in the international community.

He also lamented the insecurity that Nigeria had had to grapple with as a nation in recent times. He opined however, that Nigeria can still return to those days of excellence to find our appropriate place in the comity of nations with a strong economy and political stability at home supporting a vibrant foreign policy in spite of the constant changes and challenges in the international environment

Other discussants at the event include Ambassadors Humphrey Orjiako and Joe Keshi, both former Ambassadors who have dutifully represented Nigeria abroad at various missions

ANAMBRA GUBER: Appeal court upholds Andy Uba’s sack
…as another Court nullifies APC congresses in Anambra.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the December 20, 2021 judgment of Federal High Court Abuja which nullified the participation of APC and nomination of Senator Andy Uba as the party’s candidate in the concluded 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election.

In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, the appellate court dismissed Uba’s appeal, and agreed with the lower court judgement barring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the Anambra APC candidate and the party’s participation.

The Appellate court held in the judgment that Andy Uba’s appeal lacks merit as it did not show any prove why the decision of the lower court, which nullified his candidacy, and that of APC participation in the gubernatorial election should be set aside.

The three-man panel held that Andy Uba’s nomination was invalid, political heist and fraud.

In another judgement, the Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka on Wednesday declared as a nullity, wards, local government and state congresses held by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in January 2022 in Anambra.

The party had conducted congresses that produced Mr Basil Ejidike as the state chairman. But Court ruled that the exercise contravened the initial Interlocutory injunction earlier issued by the court.

The highly respected and prodigious poet, playwright novelist and essayist, Prof Wole Soyinka once wrote a book he titled: “You must set forth at dawn”.

The classic book which has all the signatures of a masterpiece from the master of literature himself showcased Soyinka’s years of Childhood, his political battles with the Nigerian establishment but more importantly, his core beliefs in justice, freedom, honour, merit and development

For those who may not know who Soyinka is, he is the first African (indeed a Nigerian) to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature and one of the outspoken few figures in literary history to have campaigned vigorously for political freedom and democratic dividends for the black race.

Just like Soyinka, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Anambra State Governor-elect, represents the school of thoughts that shares same sentiments on the delivering of democratic dividends to the downtrodden

After winning the Anambra governorship election last year, Soludo has remained very consistent and unwavering. ▪︎To make Anambra the ‘digital tribe’ in Nigeria,

▪︎To make Anambra State an Industrial hub from importing to an exporting economy

▪︎Anambra to be transformed into the largest entertainment and leisure resort in Africa

▪︎To create 130,000 private sector led jobs annually as well as 1000 youth millionaires every year

▪︎To tackle the menace of Erosion and other natural disasters plaguing the state

▪︎Education to be digital compliance for Ndi Anambra youths so that they can be competitive in the emerging digital world

▪︎Health, environment, roads, security and other critical sectors to be given top priority

Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Anambra State Governor-elect has received very high commendations from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on his decision to adopt the Innoson brands of Vehicles as his official vehicle when he assumes office come March 17, 2022 as the Executive Governor of Anambra State.

Cee Cee Soludo, a world renowned development economist, has, during his electioneering campaign leading to the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, told Ndi Anambra and the world that he would make the Innoson vehicles his official vehicle if elected as Governor of Anambra.

Reacting to this statement, Mr Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on behalf of the Igbo Apex socio-cultural organisation commended the wise decision of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo to adopt Innoson Vehicles as his official vehicle when he assumes office as Governor of Anambra State.

The statement read in part:

“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide extols Professor Charles Soludo on the far-reaching policy statement that Innoson vehicle will be his official car while in Office as the governor of Anambra State.

The Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Co. Ltd (IVM) is a Nigerian automobile manufacturer based in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria.

The IVM was founded by an Igbo entrepreneur, Chief Innocent Chukwuma. The Innoson vehicles, also known as the Pride of African Road, have gained wide market and acceptability, especially in African countries, namely; Mali, Sierra Leone, Ghana, etc.

In July 2017, the Malian government placed an order for 400 Innoson vehicles and they were duly supplied. Also, in August 2020, the Sierra Leone government placed an order to the IVM worth over $4.7million and were delivered. A lot of other transactions of this nature with IVM by African countries are replete.

It is therefore morally reprehensible and indeed the worst form of imperialism for Nigerian governments at all levels to prefer and patronize foreign companies as against the locally manufactured goods.

For instance, while other African countries patronize IVM, the Nigerian Lawmakers in 2019, placed an order for Japanese cars valued over N5.5 Billion. On the other hand, the aggregate expenditure on foreign cars by all the levels of Nigerian government is over 200 Billion per annum.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo posits on a firm wicket that when the volume of import into a country far exceed its exports, the balance of trade is distorted and the value of its currency severely threatened.

The self-induced imperialism and mass poverty by the Nigerian leadership takes various forms: most people in government own buildings in the USA, UK, Germany, France, etc, and their children attend schools in foreign countries; the fuel for cars, gas for bigger machines, including kerosene; health care, etc are sourced from foreign countries.

In fact, almost everything which can be sourced within are imported without corresponding effort for meaningful exports. This obnoxious self-inflicted injury has already thrown Nigeria into the poverty capital of the world and fragile states index status; and counting.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo had in October 2019 urged the Federal Government and other State Governments to patronize locally manufactured goods. Elementary economics informs that the more we promote our locally manufactured goods, the more the employment opportunities for our teeming population and the better the indices of economic growth.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor in a congratulatory message to Professor Soludo after his emergence as the governor elect of Anambra State had prophetically enthused “the age-long strategic place of Anambra State in Igbo Land and hopes that his sterling pedigree will add extra-ordinary value to the social economics of the State and the entire Igbo Land”

Soludo, has by the robust steps he has taken so far, proved beyond doubt that he is an experienced development economist and a scholar of world renown. Professor Chinua Achebe had long lamented that the problem of Nigeria is leadership. The implication of the Achebe lodestar is that if Federal Government, 36 State Governors, National Assembly Members, Ministers, etc adopt the Soludo Model by patronizing the local goods and services including Medicare, schools, cars, foods, etc, the regrettable tailspin of Nigerian economy, perhaps, may be reversed.” The statement added

Anambra State Governor-elect Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has commiserated with the victims of the fire Incident at Obodo Ukwu Road in Onitsha following the unfortunate fuel tanker explosion which occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, January 28, 2022

In a release from his media office signed by Joe Anatune, Prof Soludo expressed deep sorrow at the magnitude of material losses suffered by the victims. He lamented the incessant tanker explosion in the Onitsha axis and other cities around the country.

He assured that a lasting solution to prevent future occurrences must be fashioned out to safeguard precious lives and material losses in future, saying this current trend cannot continue

The Governor-elect commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Willie Obiano for their immediate reactions and condolences to the victims.

He equally called on relevant government institutions saddled with the responsibilities of providing succor for cases of this nature to provide the needed relief and support to ameliorate the losses, pains and agonies suffered by the victims arising from the unfortunate incident

He commended the gallantry of the youths, fire service officials and other security personnel who came immediately to the scene to stem the spread of the inferno
