TravelRe: Anambra International Cargo And Passenger Airport And The Airport City by somalianprince: 11:44am On Jul 19, 2020
Anambra airport will still serve the same purpose. Once Anambra airport is completed, the one in Asaba could be turned to a warehouse while Delta people should use the one in Anambra since the two states are not far from each other. Onitsha PORT is a federal government property, and it is in the process of being concessioned.

CeterisXVII:
Why build an airport when Asaba airport is just round the corner?? How far is Asaba from Onitsha, and other parts of Anambra??It would have been better to concentrate efforts on the Onitsha river port and turn it into a good commercial hub, for water transportation and cargo freight.

Anambra 2021: Group assesses aspirants, laments woesbedevilling statThe Eagle Online by The Eagle Onlinuly 18, 202A non-partisan pressure group comprising lecturers in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, Academic Frontiers Initiative, has expressed satisfaction over the quality of aspirants for the Anambra State 2021 gubernatorial election, even as it bemoaned the woes bedevilling the state as a result of poor leadership.
n a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Chinedu Onyeizugbe; National Secretary, Dr. Tochukwu Oguegbe; and Anambra State Coordinator, Dr. Uche Ngenegbo, the AFI said it had, via a Zoom meeting, interacted with Chief Chidozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Congress as well as Uche Ekwunife and Valentine Ozigbo, both of the Peoples Democratic Part[b]The group disclosed that all the aspirants were visibly disappointed with the poor state of Anambra, lamenting the alarming level of degeneration witnessed in the state within the last few yearThe governorship aspirants, according to the AFI, expressed their resolve to restore the glory of the state and re-ignite the light the nation was proud of in the past said: “While we hope to meet other Anambra 2021 governorship candidates, from other political parties, soon, we are so far satisfied with the quality of aspirants we have interacted with, who visibly showed disappointment with the poor level of governance currently being delivered in Anambra State. They all expressed their willingness to get Anambra working again and help restore her lost glory, blatantly robbed of her within the last six years. The aspirants expressed deep concerns on how Anambra State went from a State with a surplus savings to a state neck-deep in debts.”[b]The AFI decried the level of nepotism being showed by the government of the day, a situation it said is being witnessed across other ministries and agencies. All the aspirants we have spoken with so far promised to redress the issue of gross nepotism, lopsided appointments and to deliver political and public appointments based on merit,” AFI said.On the infrastructural decay prevalent in the state capital, coupled with the lack of basic amenities in the territory, the group explained that the aspirants have pledged their willingness to ensure that Awka, the state capital, is given a face-lift and provided with infrastructural development befitting of a state capitalOf grave concern to the group was the fact that Awka is being starved of electricity supplyt said: “We refuse to be silent when the share of electricity meant for Awka, the state capital, is being transferred to Aguleri, while Awka remains in darkness. A good functional water system befitting of a state capital is non-existent, yet it is being built in preferred locations.”The group also noted the readiness of the aspirants to redress the issues and develop every part of the state equallyThe candidates, the group said, have plans of decongesting Awka by developing other territories and communities, thereby making their living conditions attractive. On Anambra State road network, the AFI said: “We are deeply saddened by the sorry state of many roads in Anambra State at the moment. Anambra was known for having the best road network in Nigeria until a few years back. Most roads in Anambra have gone from bad to worse. The road maintenance agency saddled with the responsibility of keeping the roads in good condition are either no longer in existence or have refused to do their work because no one holds them accountable.[/The political aspirants however shared our concerns and unfolded their plans of resuscitating the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency. From our interactions with them, they share the vision of taking Anambra to the position of having the best road network in the country, a position it once enjoyed.”FI reaffirmed its stand and willingness to contribute to a free and fair election in Anambra State, while expressing hopes that better days are ahead, going by their interactions with some of the governorship aspirants.

Bros, the thing wey dey hungry you no dey for main market oh....at least not presently!

You make a good point though, in that the airport should be built for the future! This would entail making provision for a future rail service that would terminate at the airport, as well as provision of a bus/coach station. Building the airport for a much higher passenger/aircraft capacity than it presently needs is also good as it's all about having a vision for where the state hopes to be in the next five to ten years.

I think the Anambra state gov't should also start now to plan the routes for the inter-state railway service, and if possible start now to acquire right-of-way across the state. This is why a ten or twenty year development plan is necessary, as it helps any subsequent gov't key into the programme, know where to proritise allocatation of scarce resources, and not abandon projects initiated by the preceding gov't once said project is part of the gazetted document.
Very good point, particularly the highlighted area. That's why Obiano has instituted 50yrs development plan headed by Soludo that shall guide future administrations irrespective of the political party in power.

Shut up this useless frustrated old man. Have you actually been to Enugu in the last 2 to 3yrs? All the roads Sullivan constructed are now a mess. Zik Avenue is mess up pot hole almost impossible to drive on it. Agba6is almost cut into two. The only reason you don't know this is because there's hardly any opposition in the same.

Every part of Anambra is important and that's why our state is developing simultaneously, every part of the state is carried along. Stop bothering about our state and face your miserable life, because Anambra is moving forward.
Your opinion is useless and not needed. tongue

mktinsight:
Is it only nzam that has plight of no roads or bad roads? Ask everybody in Anambra state. WHAT ANSG should stop doing is promising everybody road given that their budget is poor. List out all roads that need to be worked on and assign them priorities based on ECONOMIC VALUE and REALISTIC execution dates. They need to stop using 100 rubbish contractors and do what Sullivan Chime did which is give all roads to ONE or TWO world class company that will give them massive discount for building many roads. They need to start sourcing fund for roads especially in urban areas and start doing what civilized people do which is organize partnerships with local property owners in high density areas. For example, there is no reason why a typical 300m inner road in Awka or Onitsha with 20-40 houses cannot contribute half of the cost of building a road that should not cost more than 15m. That is 300,000 per building or 100,000 per year over 3 years.

PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by somalianprince: 6:26am On Jul 19, 2020
It is not about optimism, it is about reality. Anambra international airport shall attract between 100 and 150 million passengers yearly. If you have a problem with that, then that's purely your business. tongue

[s]
Abohboy:
Your optimism is too high. Even heathrow in London doesn’t handle 100 million so how will Anambra there is a certain level of patriotism that ends up failing. What will bring 100 million people to Anambra, you do realize per day that airport will handle 273 972 people, heathrow needs a 12 lane highway, 4 lane railway, and hundreds of buses per day to ferry passengers out of heathrow. What business do 1000 million people have in Anambra. If this population was readily available than Asaba airport would have experienced similar numbers. That’s not how it works. Let me even wait for it to be completed, it will either be abandoned, or look completely different from the renders.

Don't mind these idiots that failed mathematics in jamb and cannot calculate. There are less than 5 million Nigerians in diaspora. Less than 3 million Nigerians fly into MMIA and Abuja per year and 80% of them are not from Anambra. In summary Anambra State government continues building rural roads to villagers while DESIGNING roads in Awka and Onitsha where millions of people live. I once drove on the Umuawulu - Ufuma road built by Obi and every few minutes a car or bus would pass by. Meanwhile thousands of cars pileup in inner Awka and Onitsha because of the lack of access roads.
They need to prioritize roads on a formula based on usage not sentiment. Urban roads should get highest priority followed by remote rural roads.

Who asked you all these rubbish you are busy yapping about? You are not even from Anambra, but you are more concerned with what's happening in Anambra more than what's happening in your own state. Yes, Anambra international airport shall attract even 100 million passengers, and what are you gonna do about it? I have headache but you are the one with panadol. WTF.

[s]
Abohboy:
How will Anambra attract 30-50 million people per year there are only 10 million Nigerians maximum in the diaspora, and not all of the would come back to Anambra every year, added to that the local people living in Anambra, Abia and Kogi can not afford a flight. The full population of people that could ever afford a flight is 2 million at most it will be bringing 5 million people. And that is if you are very optimistic. You people need to be honest to yourselves. And I don’t want to be insulted for telling the truth
