spikes C: A mod replied ya, he said you should refrain from posting Russian characters cos the bot detects it as spam.
Ah, was it in this thread or a mod thread? I didn't read this one yet, I expected to see the answer in a mod one. Thank you.
Can't mods unhide replies?
No offence to you man, but what the f does how we do things relate to this. If the spambot blocks or bans a poster,it just means the poster violated some rules even if it wasn't intentional. What's the "trying to impress" act about bro?
There are probably no broken rules, most likely there is just a primitive anti-spam bot which bans anyone who exceeds certain amount of posts per hour or something like that. Or maybe anyone who posts a post bigger than some size because I once was banned for a single big post. I asked mods if they could tell me how it works, maybe I should post no more than 5 posts per hour and each no longer than 20 lines, but nobody gave me a clear answer.

ayyoshert: Want to know if present day Russians are really descendants of the ancient warrior tribe the HUNS and also if my perception that an average russian is taller and stronger than other Europeans true.
No, slavs have nothing to do with Huns. Also the tallest Europeans are Dutch. Don't know about strength, but I think the average russian is the same as an average pole. You probably watched too many Hollywood cold-war era movies.

naijaspeak: Why is Russia standing on the way of Ukraine joining the European Union?
Well, we are almost the same nation, we have very close languages and we share a common history. We'd like to get Ukraine back but actually we won't resist if they go to EU.

What news are talking about as pressure on Ukraine consists mostly of the trade agreements Russia will have to cancel with Ukraine and facts our politicians present them based on agreements they want to sign.

Right now there are several benefits Ukraine gains from Russia - like cheap gas they get as a CIS member, quotas on metal products (60% of their exports https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ukraine_Export_Treemap.png ) we force our businesses to buy from Ukraine and low trade taxes between Ukraine and other CIS members. If Ukraine will sign European association agreement we will have to expel them from CIS - simply because otherwise tax-free goods from EU will flood our markets through Ukraine. Ukrainian metal isn't of high quality and the only reason our industry buys it is because of quotas and small cost - if taxes will be raised nobody here will buy it anymore, and since Russia buys about 30% of their exports that means they lose a huge chunk of their economy. But that's not even the main reason to worry about.

The biggest problem of Ukraine is that their economy is almost dead, their own production is being replaced by EU imports even now and they have a huge trade deficit. Ukraine has crippling debt and if they don't get more loans very soon they won't have other choice as to default. That's why Ukraine demanded 160 bln$ credit to sign the agreement while EU wants them to sign it for free because they need money for themselves. tjfulloption: why is the russian govt backing or protecting of the Asad govt in a deadly chemical attack on her citiziens when the obama administartion and others was considering a military strick in syria?
First of all, its not completely clear whether Assad really did that attack. US hasn't provided evidence so far despite talking a lot about having it. There are sings that it may have been really used by Assad's army generals without orders from Assad, but there has been overwhelming evidence that rebels themselves use chemical weapons (like capture of several rebels with chemical weapons in Turkey town bordering Syria).
Anyway, I think our government doesn't really care about who stays in power and how many syrians die in the war if we can get our pipeline there and not let Saudis build their pipeline to Europe. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2013/aug/30/syria-chemical-attack-war-intervention-oil-gas-energy-pipelines

50calibre: My dear Russian, you may not know this, but the highlighted is an insult not just to the people on this forum, but to Nigerians as a whole.

There are people on this forum who know so much about your beloved Russia.

Please refrain from making assumptions like this, it could be misinterpreted.
"Here" means Russia. Anyway, I think only several thousands of people know what has really happened in Moscow, like high government officials and intelligence officers from various countries. Rest of the world population knows nothing about who those mysterious snipers were or why did Gorbachev act like that, we can make assumptions but we cannot know for sure.

Jade William: So d Mr Higher than Average; Where's al this confidence comin frm?
From the knowledge that the average Russian knows English even worse than me.
Jade William: U think u'r smarter than Nigerians or what?
I think that I know what I am majoring in, russian language and what's going on in this country better than 90% of Nigerians, even better than 90% of all world's population if you want.
Jade William: Frm ur posts,ur English is whack&ur punctutions' re apology yet u claim 2hav knowledge of English. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
I know, when I re-read my posts I can usually myself notice several mistakes, like lack of 's' in the end of verbs where they are needed or improper irregular verb past tense usage. English punctuation isn't studied here at all, most of the time we spend learning how to use different tenses and enlarging vocabulary. Still, I know enough to write about whatever I want and you can understand me without much effort required, can't you?

Uyi Iredia: That said, what is your knowledge of the Communist Days of Lenin and Stalin. I've read history books but would like another view ? Also what is the average Russians opinion on Western capitalism ? Finally what's your own opinion of Communism (any misconceptions etc you'd like to share) ?
That's quite a long topic. In short Lenin did nothing of real value and quickly died, Stalin took over, purged his rivals and forced quick industrialization at the cost of human lives. In the end he managed to win the war thanks to gained production capacity.
Capitalism, socialism, etc - nobody really cares, they are just ways of doing things, not the goals. People are nostalgic for USSR because it extensively did scientific research and explored space, built nuclear battlecruisers and colonized artic tundra, not for socialism, while Russia only maintains about a half of USSR capabilities and doesn't really improve much.
Westerners are viewed as an bunch of people who are stuck in hedonism and care for nothing but their own pleasure, hence very small output of really boundary-pushing achievements (like LHC or Curiosity) and almost no significant improvements in science since like 1995 (singificant like Einstein relativity theory or nuclear reactors), current capabilities are mostly the same, except for biology and nano-sized physics. Even computers didn't change much except for size and performance. At least they managed to get the right to smoke marijuana, legally purchase prostitutes and allow gays and pedophiles to adopt kids.
First, there was no communism here, only a socialism. Second, I haven't lived in USSR so I will just retell you what others told me.
Common goods were in abundance, they were cheap and could work for years (I use a can opener made in 1966, many clinics and hospitals use soviet blanks for their paperwork because they cannot deplete them even after 20 years cheesy), especially military things, but their assortment was very small (especially in clothes and boots) so many people lusted for imported goods which were a sign of wealth and importance (though old people say it was like that only in 80s). Very common was was mass participation in different organizations, like Octobrist for kids, Pioneering for teens, Komsomol for youths and Communist party for adults. Many people say that being a Pioneer during childhood was cool since they were taught lots of valuable skills there like surviving in wilderness, fishing, making fire, working in groups, usage of gas masks, etc. Corruption was prevalent and if you were a director of a factory you could have expect much more than an average worker. Bureaucracy was always a problem, since they only let their relatives and friends hold well-paid positions and to get anything done you had to bribe and bribe and bribe.

souldust: @Russian can you win Nigeria in a war? Can you win South Africa in a war? Can you win Egypt in a war? Can you win any of the two put together in a war? Can you go to war with all three and win? You dont have to sound friendly, its ok. I just want your candid and honest opinion. I am not going to crucify you for it.
No. Russia doesn't have enough navy or bases to get sufficient amount of troops to Africa, not mentioning that we cannot completely defeat a country with several millions of people even if you were right on the border with us, since you'd just go full partisan and we will get stuck in whoever we are fighting against like USSR was stuck in Afghanistan. Though if by victory you mean just overthrowing some government I think we can actually do it even without engaging in conflict, just fund some rebels, send some agents and provide weapons CIA style.
If you mean just Russian army, navy and airforce vs Nigerian army, navy and airforce agains each other in neighboring countries without using any 'unfair' tactics like using civilians or kids, then ofc we win, I think there won't be much trouble in winning over Egypt or SA as well or any of the 3 mentioned combined. We have air superiority, long range rockets to destroy infrastructure and high valuable targets like command posts, anti-air and anti-rocket defense to keep rocketry and cold war era airfighters/bombers at bay and sattelites to provide the data on enemy.

souldust: Can you defeat israel in a war? They stole your brand new mig jet at a time. They also bribed and intemidated german scientists from working for Egypt. They kill Iranian scientists with impunity they defeated all of their neighbours in six daysb
Yes, they are a small country, their airforce is very small although very advanced compared to its neighbors, their navy is weak, their land army is tough but still a lot smaller than ours and not much more advanced. They have good anti-rocket defense (Iron dome) but I doubt it can hold against a bunch of BM-something MRLs. Israeli force is very good at dealing with technologically inferior enemies, for everybody else they have US. The biggest threat which comes from Israel is not their army or air force though, its their fleet of nuclear ICBM equipped subs which will retaliate to everyone in case Israel falls.

souldust: Why is Russia called Nigeria with snow?
There are lots of articles on that in Russian but very few in English. Read this: http://www.eesti.ca/from-upper-volta-with-missiles-to-nigeria-with-snow/print38839

Women here are average, its just that the only women who had the chance to flee the country during the 90s were models and hookers, both had to be hot to be successful.

osymerga: Whats the strenght of the russian military ? Do you think they can afford to go to war with U.S and still win ? Why didnt Russia had colonies like the europians did ? Why is Russian affairs not widely public like the americans ? Why are they secretive ? Who are the allies of Russia today ? Thanks.....
We always can nuke our attackers, but if we forget about nukes I think we are doing pretty well.
We can defend ourselves on our territory from I think pretty much anyone, including US, with the only exception of China. But if we were to attack someone we cold only win against a much smaller and weaker country. Only our defensive weaponry, like anti-air rocket launchers and airfighters are really good, anti-ship missiles are good too, but we don't have bases all over the world like US, we don't have fleet that can match even a quarter of US fleet, our attack submarines are few and their stealth isn't even close to that of US. If US were to go in war with Russia without any allies I think there would be a stalemate since the only way to get here is either by air or by water and we can defend both, though we cannot counterattack.

As for China, the only thing that can stop them is nukes. Their army is larger than ours and they have more conscripts to recruit, their industry during the war can easily outproduce ours by a large margin. The only reason why China doesn't rule the world with the iron fist yet is because their naval power is far lesser than even that of Japan, not mentioning US. But if China and US were on the same continent Chinese would win in 1v1, without any doubt.

BekeeBuAgbara: Is it true that a retired gymnast Alina Kabayeva is president Putin's fiance?
I have no idea. Some people believe that but I am not a fan of rumors and not interested in celebrities life at all so I cannot say for sure. Also some people think its just another Putin macho PR stunt, like his other macho activities. No idea why is he doing that, I doubt that he doesn't understand that his activities look pretty childish.

Entertaining yourself using sh1t is a prerogative of Germans while sticking things into аsses is a modern Swedish custom, not Russian.

Chernobyl is very far away to the west from me, in Ukraine. Thus no wine for you.

RedReact: Russian-man, pardon me for calling you that way because I dont want to call your username. I'm impressed by your answers. Though I know a little about Russia from documentaries I watch but your answers give more insight to what I couldnt get known before.
Besides, if by chance you know or see Oleg Salenko, give my greetings to him grin grin I cant forget how he dealt with Cameroon at the 1994 World Cup.
Hear this name for the first time so sorry, also I am too young to remember 1994. I bet he lives in Moscow or Petersburg since he is (or was) a world class sportsman and Moscow is about 5000 km away from here so I doubt I'll meet him anytime soon.
RedReact: Have a Russian classmate here that also gave me some enlightment and also talked about the religious stance over there; but was surprised when he asked this question "Are all Africans poor? (provided you, that is me, answer NO) Why do the media depict them as such?"
I doubt anyone including that classmate of yours really thinks that ALL Africans are poor, in every country no matter how rich or poor it is there are always some very poor and some very rich people, its only a matter of proportions. Its just that in Africa all countries are poor so there are very few rich people and a lot of poor.
Why does media depicts all africans as poor and incapable of helping themselves? Probably because nobody outside of it cares what's happening there, be it wars or disasters or whatever. The only ones who care are charity organizations and they portray Africa as a hellhole full of starving children to get money from donators. Africa is like Balkans. Do you ever hear news from Bosnia or Albania other than some stories about human trafficking and poverty?
Am impressed by how well you have answered all of these questions, your answers have been quite informative. I have just published a collection of Design Essays, that will be available on Amazon, Apple store and a handful of other eBook retail stores as from next month. And I will like to know What the indie publishing market in Russia is like. Do Russians buy eBooks?
Which Russian publishers will recommend that I send out query letters to?
I don't really know, maybe you should try Google play? I (and I bet 99% of other russians) have never bought a single ebook in my life, I've either pirated them or took for free from university e-library.
