THE Ogun State Police Command yesterday, said it had rearrested Mr. Joe Chinakwe a 30yrs old trader, who named his pet dog Buhari, noting that the suspect would be arraigned in court on Monday. It also stated that Chinakwe, who was earlier released a few days ago, was picked up again based on its belief that the suspect’s action was capable of provoking an ethnoreligious crisis. Saturday Vanguard had exclusively reported the three-day detention and subsequent release of Chinakwe after the intervention of the Serkin Hausa and President-General of non-indigenes in the state. He was taken into custody after one of his neighbours, who was later found out to be a Nigerien complained that the dog was named after his father, Alhaji Buhari. It was learned that the prompt intervention of the elders made the complainant to withdraw the case at Sango-Ota Division. Police sources had earlier stated that upon his release, the father of two, who hails from Ukwunzu in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State and the complainant were made to sign an undertaking not to cause any breach of peace. In the light of these, the suspect’s arrest yesterday opened another page on the matter that had aroused public interest. However, the state’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen that Chinakwe was rearrested yesterday to prevent the state from being plunged into crisis, adding that the complainant and his sympathisers had threatened to kill the suspect. Hmmm, Dog or no dog. Please Nairalanders, is there a big deal in naming your dog after someone you love? Your opinions counts. See pictures below #MyPalmchatExperience.

National Under-23 team coach Samson Siasia and his captain Mikel Obi have hailed the bronze medal won by the team at the Rio 2016 Olympics on Saturday. Nigeria defeated Honduras 3-2 to get their only medal at the Games. Siasia told the media, “I want to say thanks to the players. They did a great job. It is good to take something back home. “Having bronze is not easy; we are happy and we have to celebrate. We have to enjoy this moment.” Mikel praised the effort of his coach, saying it was painful to lose 2-0 to Germany in the semifinals. The Chelsea midfielder said, “It is very important (bronze), because football in Nigeria is absolutely massive. We had extra-pressure perhaps, but we have done it for us, for our family, for Nigeria. “I was disappointed against Germany because I don’t like losing, I always want to win. But I am so proud of this team, the boys. They worked so hard. “We have an amazing coach; he’s always been there for the boys.” Honduras coach Jorge Pint said, “We are satisfied but not happy. Not happy because we think that could take another thing out from Rio 2016 (a medal). But the experience is good and Honduras will understand that the players have made very important things.” He added, “I am happy, we did a good job, it was an extraordinary experience in Brazil. We are among the four best teams in the world and that is important for Honduras, a country where life is football.” It is the third Olympic men’s football medal for Nigeria. The Under-23 team won gold at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games and silver at Beijing 2008. #Mypalmchatexperience (source Punch.ng) |
A man in India spent two months swallowing knives and had 40 of them surgically removed from his stomach, according to the doctor who led the operation. "He had a wild urge to consume metal. Even for us, the experienced surgeons, it was frightening," Dr. Jatinder Malhotra. "We were so nervous... a small mistake could have taken the patient's life. In my 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like it." Malhotra said it took his team about two days to form a diagnosis and surgery plan. The five-hour operation took place Friday in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, a Sikh holy city in the state of Punjab. Malhotra said they found foldable knives, which when fully extended were about seven inches long. "He [the patient] says he swallowed some knives folded, and some unfolded. When we took out the knives -- some were found folded, some were open, and some had even started rusting and were broken," Malhotra said. The patient, a 42-year-old father of two, is feeling much better. "I'm sorry I let my family down. I'll be forever thankful to doctors and hospital staff for saving my life," he said. Malhotra says the patient is now "out of danger" and is set to be discharged in a couple of days. This is strange and funny. Is it that Nigeria in a way has affected India with Economic hardship too? because a derica of rice is now #320. So someone has no food but metal. You remember the experience when there is nothing in the house but Cassava flakes (garri) and you taking it in the rain and your walks in and you have no option but to say garri is my best food. #LOLS Your opinion counts. #mypalmchatexperience. If today is the world's DO A CRAZY THING DAY and the hashtag is #Slapacelebrityofyourchoice. Which of the celebrities home or abroad would you slap? For me, abroad I will so slap Rick Royce for Tattooing his body so much and for looking that heavy weight wise. My Palmchat friends said they would slap life out of Terry G for the nonsense he sings as the son of a Pastor but for me in Nigeria I will make sure I slap Saint Janet to death because she is annoying. Which celebrity would you slap? |

Prior to your wedding, your ex brought one of this cars to you as a gift for the wedding for being the best in his/her life and your spouse ask you to return it or no wedding what would you do? Most of my Palmchat friends said they would rather cancel the wedding or go on with their ex. But for me, I don't think it's wise to return it or cancel the wedding because you didn't beg for it. What would you do if you were in that position?

Being in a relationship with a partner that has a bad breath is hell and bad grammar is worst for some of my friends on Palmchat. Sade and Tunde are still dating. Tunde is double dating and Sade is not aware. Sade has bad breath but can express herself when it comes to speaking English. His other bae, Anita cannot speak a sentence correctly but has a good breath. Sade is caring, loving and knows how to cook. Meanwhile some say that, food is the way to a man's heart. Anita is caring, can cook but rude. They both met in Tunde's house one weekend and they started arguing. Anita had to seize her breath when Sade started and Sade expressed shock when Anita started talking. Tunde couldn't do anything but watch them display. Well for me, bad grammar can be corrected but I don't think you can correct bad breath because its a birth thing. Hmm mm sad. If you were Tunde, who would you choose/cope with, the one with a bad breath or bad grammar? |

In celebration of the International Youth Day which is a UN designated day for the recognition and celebration of youths around the world. Jonathan in a statement via his Facebook page cited instances and occurrences when Nigerian youths have made the country proud and urged them to continue to develop themselves. He wrote: “I salute the resilience and creativity of our youths on a day dedicated to them. From Adichie to Jelani Aliyu, our youths continue to be our pride. “When Nigeria’s economy became the largest economy on the African continent, it was and is because of our youths. “When we perform exploits at the Olympics and other sporting events, it is because of the great Nigerian youths. “Nigeria and indeed the world has no greater asset than our youth and you will continue to be my personal inspiration. “My message to youths is to urge you to continue to develop yourself through positive endeavors. The future is yours. God bless our youths. GEJ” The question now is, with the high rate of teenage pregnancy in Nigeria, do you think the future is for some of these youths? |
What is this World turning into? This was the question my Palmchat friends asked as one Egbo Nwanaka was arrested by the Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Police for organizing the abduction of her elder sister, Ada Nwanaka. The suspect, who was one of those paraded at the State Police Command in Port Harcourt, was expecting one of his relatives to pay ransom for the release of his elder sister. Though the police said they did not immediately arrest Egbo, they were able to link the abduction of Ada Nwanaka, who is in her early 30s, to his younger brother after series of investigation. Hmmmm, all thanks to the Police Command for her rescue. |
Hey!! Its Miss BUMBUM 2016 Contest in Brazil. It was quite an eye-popping time yesterday in Brazil when the 27 women competing to win the title of best buttocks in Brazil got into the Olympic spirit yesterday by running in their own 100-metre sprint - in nothing but skimpy, bum flaunting bikinis. The Brazil's most popular beauty pageant, brought traffic to a standstill as they ran down the famous Avenida Paulista, the main street of the country's biggest city Sao Paulo. If this was done in Nigeria, Which state do you think would win? Some of my friends on Palmchat said Calabar and I don't think so really. See some of the buttiful pictures below, and please try not to be bummed out.

Lols It was a terrible fight as a man identified as Destiny Udoka Okoro, bites off the lip of another man simply identified as Kolawole in Owa-Alero Ika North East of Delta during a fight over the latter's wife. It was gathered Kolawole allegedly caught Okoro in bed with his wife. This led to a fight. During the fight, Udoka was said to have bitten off the whole lower lip of the husband, Kolawole. Hmmmmmm, caught Udoka on his wife and same Udoka bites off the husband's lips What would you have done if You were in Kolawole's shoes?

Palmchatters are now acting according to the book of Matt. 26 which says 'watch and pray, lest you fall into temptations' The Nigeria’s Boko Haram Islamic extremists now have a new leader who is threatening to bomb churches and kill Christians while ending attacks on mosques and markets used by ordinary Muslims, according to an interview published Wednesday by the Islamic State group. We know God has been our shield but then we have to be watchful and prayerful. The world is coming to an end already and all these things has been recorded already in the Holy book that on the 'last day, Nations shall rise against Nations' Hmmmmm, What is General Buhari doing about this? This was his number 1 agenda during campaign, I hope we still remember. We do not pray for this to happen but if it does, What will you do as an individual. Would you change your religion or maintain your stand?

A 17-year-old girl, Temitope Saka, has died after drinking insecticide, Sniper, in the Igando area of Lagos Stat the victim who happened to be the only child of her father left behind a suicide note in which she allegedly blamed her grandma for her death. Her boyfriend reported the incident to the police at the Igando division, which led to the arrest of the woman. The victim's mother died when she was 3yrs old and since then she has been living with her grandma at Mofoluwasho Close, Alhaji Ede bus stop, Igando. The grandma is a trader in Ikotun, where the girl met her boyfriend, who is also a trader. There were times that the girl brought the man home and he spent the night with her because the grandma went for vigils.” Another source said when the victim became pregnant, her grandma insisted she packed out of the house. “The woman insisted that she packed to her boyfriend’s house. She threw out her luggage and chased her away,” he said. The victim drank the poison last Wednesday and began foaming in the mouth at her boyfriend’s house. She was said to have been rushed to the Igando General Hospital where she died. Her boyfriend, who saw the suicide note, was said to have reported the incident to the police. A resident said, “The girl and the boyfriend loved each other. The man did not even reject the pregnancy. “The grandma probably chased her away because she could not stand the shame that the girl got pregnant out of wedlock.(Source, The Punch) A girl also drank sniper at Sabo area of Yaba because her boyfriend left her for her friend. Madness as Palmchatters would say Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, can suicide ever stop in Nigeria? Remember one of the FCMB managers who committed suicide last month? it's the same Nigeria oo. On June 18, a 19-year-old girl, Uche Obiora, allegedly took Sniper at her boyfriend’s house, which is a street away from Saka’s grandmother’s house. A resident, who identified himself as Goddey, appealed to the government to intervene in the increasing rate of teenage suicides in the community. DO you think Sniper should be banned? |
A 17-year- old girl,Omo-Lamai, who graduated from Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, last year, has been granted admission to study in 13 universities in America and Canada. However, she opted for Syracuse University, United States, to study Bio-Medical Engineering. Some of the universities where she was offered admission include Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, New York University, among others. According to her, she settled for Syracuse University because of the institution’s world-class research laboratory and a $51,000 scholarship offer. The teenager, who aspires to be a medical engineer, disclosed that she would study medicine as a second degree. . Hmmmm, like Palmchatters would say, Nigerians are breaking records “My hope is to study medicine for a second degree, but I would love to be a medical engineer. Most of the medical equipment in the country are imported and I would like a situation where medical equipment is manufactured here in Nigeria.(source, Punch) “My parents are my role models, but I am also inspired by anyone who is hard working, anyone who puts so much efforts into what they do,” she said. A statement from the Vice-Principal, Dowen College, Mr. Muraina Olusesi, on Monday, said Omo-Lamai was the valedictorian of the school last year. Hmmmm, My Palmchat friends concluded that the FG should have used money for other things needed by the Masses instead of spending on unnecessary things. Naira is now 400/dollar, derica of rice is now #300, Kerosine is now 200 per bottle, no more #30 oil to cook indomie, Poly bag is now #20, no more #30 indomie, roads are bad, long bridge under repair to mention but a few. Yet FG keeps telling us about recovering stolen funds. Abeg who all this stolen funds epp? The Federal Government says it has taken Turkish Airlines to court for alleged impunity and violation of the rights of some Nigerian passengers. The Federal Government also accused the airline and its two principal officers of violating the same section of the CPC Act by neglecting, without sufficient cause, to attend and testify before the Consumer Protection Council on the detailed steps taken by the airline to provide redress and compensation to passengers aboard its Flight 623 from Istanbul to Abuja on the said dates, who were affected by its untimely delivery of baggage. Do you think the FG would have sued this airline if the Passengers were not people close to them? |
Dangote Industries Limited has announced the commencement of the construction of concrete roads in various states across the country, particularly in Lagos, Bauchi, Kogi, Kaduna and Ogun states. The Chairman, Dangote Cement Plc, Aliko Dangote, recently reiterated his plea to the Federal Government to consider the use of concrete in road construction in the country. Palmchat friends, inluding myself see this as a very good project. The African richest man said it would be to the benefit of Nigerians if the Federal Government embraced the option of using concrete for roads in the country, adding that aside from being cheap, concrete roads were more durable, with near zero maintenance cost. “We are pushing for Nigeria to do concrete roads. It is cheaper to do a concrete road that will last 50 years than to do a bitumen road. It will also help in eliminating corruption because if you go and build a bitumen road, it will have to be adequately maintained unlike a concrete road that is very durable,” Dangote added. What do you think the future of this country holds in few years time, if other business Tycoons and elites in the country think in like manner? |
Hello Nairalanders! If your partner wants to wow you with a dish, what dish would you prefer. I got some funny reply on Palmchat as many people voted for swallow. For me I would prefer bread and well fried egg with a cup of tea. |
