Real Madrid said goodbye to Zinedine Zidane on Thursday, with the French coach deciding to leave while on top and to leave as a legend.

He has overseen the most successful 878-day period of the club's history, winning nine titles, including three consecutive Champions Leagues.

His resignation came just six days after his most recent continental triumph, with Zidane never having been knocked out of the Champions League as coach of Los Blancos. With his nine titles, Zidane is the second most decorated coach in the capital city club's history, only behind the 14 of Miguel Munoz, while he also claimed FIFA's The Best award as the top coach in the world last year.The only trophy he failed to win of all those he competed for was the Copa del Rey, with Barcelona having maintained their monopoly on the cup competition.
