Forum You are here: Home / News / Gunmen shoot at Ekiti APC members Gunmen shoot at Ekiti APC members April 2, 2015 : Kamarudeen Ogundele 56 Comments Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose Crisis returned to Ekiti State on Wednesday as gunmen attacked the All Progressives Congress Secretariat and jubilant members of the party. The APC members had just returned from the streets of Ado Ekiti where they had gone to celebrate the victory of the APC candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in the Saturday’s Presidential election. The state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, who addressed journalists in Ado Ekiti after the attack said the gunmen came in three Hilux vans with Government House registration number and three men in police uniform sitting in the front. Accusing Governor Ayodele Fayose and the Police of complicity in the attack, he said the party had earlier got information that plan was being hatched by some top officials in the Government House to prevent any celebration in the state. He alleged that the gunmen were members of a killer gang sent to disrupt the APC victory party by the governor. But Fayose said the attack was a self-sponsored attack by the APC to make it look like an attack from outside, urging the people to disregard the allegations. Olatubosun wondered why the hoodlums attacked the secretariat unchallenged in the presence of a detachment of police led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Ologede Police Station, Ado Ekiti that had provided security for the APC. According to him, the gunmen brandishing guns, cutlasses and axes, rained bullets on the secretariat and destroyed no fewer than five cars parked at the secretariat. Olatunbosun mentioned Femi, Basiru, Ayo and Opeyemi as the alleged leaders of the attack. The intensity of the attack, he said, forced party members and passers-by to scamper for safety. “We had few members left when they came because some of our teeming members who held a peaceful victory procession were already leaving before they came. They shot at our secretariat. “We were aware that they were coming but we never knew Governor Fayose could do anything funny because of the mood of the nation, though, we heard him boasting that he won’t allow anyone to mark the victory of Buhari in Ekiti State,” he said. |

Godsday Orubebe’s profile on Wikipedia just got updated that he attempted to disrupt 2015 general election result announcement on March 31. Orubebe, the agent of the Peoples Democratic Party at the announcement of the presidential election in Abuja, had called for the stoppage of the presentation of the results on Tuesday. Shouting on top of his voice, Orubebe, a former Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, alleged that INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had taken side with the All Progressives Congress. At the venue of the results presentation on Tuesday, the PDP agent shouted, “You sent a committee to Rivers to probe what happened there. We submitted petitions to you about Kano, Jigawa, Katsina but you have not done anything about our complaints. You cannot continue with these results; we will not take it.” As Jega tried to calm him down, asking to be given a chance to respond, Orubebe shouted, “Mr. Jega, You cannot continue, go to your office. You are partial. We don’t have any confidence in you. We will not allow this. You cannot continue. You must stop the results.” |

Jonathan Mrs Wife jpeg Jonathan’s wife was in Ekiti to entertain – APC Posted by: Odunayo Ogunmola, Ado-Ekiti in News Update 2 days ago The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, said Monday’s campaign visit to Ekiti state by the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan was a mere entertainment and comical show rather than an opportunity to prove reasons the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) deserves re-election The party said Mrs. Jonathan only showcased her theatrics prowess instead of a more robust and issue-based electioneering to list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti in the last four years and what are his plans for the state if he wins. The Ekiti APC tasked the First Lady to emulate the wife of its presidential candidate, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who has shown class and panache in her campaign engagements, giving hope to Nigerians for a serious and purposeful leadership that will take Nigeria back on track of development. In a statement on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, the party regretted that the First Lady only came to Ekiti State to entertain the indigenes as people without aspirations for good life and development. He regretted that Mrs. Jonathan and host Governor Ayo Fayose treated Ekiti people and other Nigerians watching the event life on the television to insipid and dry comedy with their speeches lacking grace. Olatubosu pointed out that throughout the campaign programme, Mrs. Jonathan created impression that what Ekiti people needed was entertainment and theatrics to quench their thirst for growth and development. He said: “Throughout her speech, she manifested an image of a village masquerade providing a momentary comic relief to a poverty ravaged community not in a hurry for socio-economic salvation. “You would have thought that the First Lady would list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti State and then give the people some hope that her husband would build upon those achievements. “But she engaged in a duet with her host and soul mate, Governor Ayo Fayose, in an empty campaign comedy to a thoroughly dazed enlightened Ekiti people. “It was a perfect duet by two comedians that one does not need any counsel that Nigeria must be rescued from the captivity of the costumed ‘people of power’ without responsibility.” The APC spokesman berated Mrs. Jonathan for relentless attacks on APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, saying her conduct betrayed a woman hit by failure of her ‘husband’s mandate to govern Nigeria along the path of development but was now acting desperately in railroading Nigerians into accepting a visionless leadership as a fate that must be embraced. His words: “She was consistently painting Buhari as a man that would herd Nigerians into jail without committing any crime whereas Buhari only insisted that criminals during his coming administration would go to jail. “She said she was not ready to prepare food for Fayose in jail. Inadvertently, Mrs. Jonathan was telling Nigerians that Fayose is a candidate for the prison if Buhari wins.” Olatubosun challenged the First Lady to tell Ekiti people the benefits of SURE-P she flaunted at the rally, saying the programme was just a bazaar for a few selfish party leaders without any benefit for the entire citizenry. He also faulted her claim that women were appointed into government positions in Ekiti State by Fayose, saying this was a clear case of falsehood, which had become synonymous with Jonathan’s administration. “Fayose has a four-man cabinet running his government. Apart from the Secretary to the State Government, where are the other women Fayose has appointed? “Mrs. Jonathan only came to Ekiti to entertain in a political theatre full of deceits and false props constructed by Fayose for maximum personal profits,” Olatubosun explained. Stressing that Ekiti people had made up their minds to vote Buhari, he added that they had become wiser and would not vote a regime that did not hold any promise for their future. |
Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, yesterday described her husband, Goodluck as the Messiah, who has come to liberate Nigeria. Speaking in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Mrs Jonathan advised Nigerian women not to vote for Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. “Nigerian women, if they (APC) come, tell them that your mother said you should not listen to them. They have nothing to offer. They have nothing to give you, Nigerian women; because the battle has already been conquered, God has opened the way for us. God has brought down the messiah for us. And PDP is the messiah. Goodluck is the messiah,” Mama Peace, as she’s called said. The president’s wife urged Buhari, 72 to leave politics and governance to younger people. “I am a person that will tell the truth. I will not abuse people, but if you are old you are old, so leave it to younger people,” she said. The First Lady who likened the opposition party to an “expired and adulterated drug” asked the Nigerian electorate not to vote for the party, saying it could lead to their death. Mrs. Jonathan said, “What are we going to take expired drug to do? Have you seen anywhere where APC cured any person? If you vote and drink it and die, it is not my business. Do not go near APC. It is an expired drug and an adulterated drug.” She also promised that the PDP would reclaim governance of Kwara State, saying the state was stolen from the PDP. “They stole our mandate. This is opposition state. All these provisions of the Federal Government, they are claiming that they are the ones providing them, meanwhile they are embezzling the money. “Anyone that comes, they eat it up. This time, PDP says no to them.” She said, “PDP is not shaken; as far as we are there, there is no need for trouble. You know that Mama Peace, your mother, is peace-loving, so the children must also be peace-loving. Women are peace makers and no woman that makes trouble is worth to be called a woman. “Before I went to Edo State, the APC was there, all to make trouble. I have always been telling them that they like to make trouble. I wanted to go to Edo, they were there. Why? To make trouble. I wanted to come to Kwara, they were there. Why? To make trouble. As I was coming today at the airport, they were also coming so that there would be trouble but I told my security people that I am a mother of peace, so let them go in peace. We, wives of political leaders should not make trouble, so even if they come to you to make trouble, don’t fall for their tricks.” Patience added, “Kwara is PDP. They only stole the mandate because the Government House they are occupying today is in the name of PDP. We shall take it over. Everyday they change from one name to another and very soon they will change to Ebola and then death will come. My God that I serve has told me that they will fail. So don’t be deceived, don’t listen to their lies. “There is office for wife of President but they were saying there is none. But soon they brought one ‘Hajia’ as wife of the President and she is now saying, ‘don’t worry, my husband made a mistake, we shall make provisions as necessary.’ Don’t believe what they are saying, hold to what you have because it is better than what you are yet to see”. http://dailypost.ng/2015/03/18/buhari-is-an-expired-drug-if-you-vote-him-you-will-die-patience-jonathan/

Dollars can’t buy Yoruba votes’ March 17, 2015 : Agency report 14 Comments President Goodluck Jonathan President Goodluck Jonathan | credits: File photo The Elders Council of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State has described the efforts by President Goodluck Jonathan to get Yoruba people’s support for his re-election through monetary inducement as too late. In a statement signed by the chairman of the council, Mr. Sola Akinwumi, which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, on Monday, the council maintained that Yoruba people are not articles that could be purchased by the highest bidder. Decrying the last minute visit to palaces of traditional rulers by Jonathan, the party leaders drawn across the 30 local governments of Osun said that “the dollar rain, if it is true, is a gratuitous insult to the dignity and integrity of Yoruba culture and tradition as it presents our people as purchasable items for moneybags.” According to the council, the eleventh hour visitation embarked upon by the President in the past few weeks was not surprising as it reflected the antics of an unprepared student that usually adopts panicky measures when a promotion examination is approaching. “The eleventh hour visitation by President Jonathan did not come to us as a surprise because he, like a poor student of history, realised too late that Yoruba people are worth more than passing attention in the past six years of his presidency”, the council observed. A careful look at Yoruba states, according to the party elders, showed evidence of neglect by the Federal Government. |

Federal allocation to Osun falls by 65% -APC December 24, 2014 by Femi Makinde The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has accused the Federal Government of slashing allocation to the state from over N3.8 billion to less than N1.3 billion. The Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the the party in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, said this in a Christmas message made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday. The party said that the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government was deliberately punishing the state with reduced allocation because of the defeat suffered by the ruling party at the August 9 governorship poll. The APC spokesperson urged Nigerians to vote out President Goodluck Jonathan and replace him with Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC to liberate the nation from corrupt leadership. He said, “The last federal allocation paid to the State of Osun was the least in the whole of the federation and was less than a third of what the state used to receive in the first half of 2014. “Between June and October, this year, the federal allocation paid to Osun fell from over N3.8 billion to less than N1.3 billion. But the state’s salary profile alone is N3.6 billion every month. “The Federal Government has not offered any sensible explanation for this drastic drop leaving room for reasonable speculation that the PDP is taking its ‘pound of flesh’ in reprisal for the defeat it suffered at the August 9 governorship election in Osun State. “Osun State in particular, is being made to suffer because the state stood up to Federal Government tyranny and voted against the PDP in the last August 9 governorship election. “No matter the economic terrorism of the Federal Government and the PDP, the people of Osun shall remain unbowed to the evil economic might of the PDP-led Federal Government, which they are currently using to strangulate workers in the State of Osun. “In this season, when people are celebrating the great advent of Jesus of Nazareth, the Federal Government led by a so-called Christian is entertaining himself with the agony of Nigerians who are miserably suffering under the massive corruption of the PDP that has left our economy comatose.” The party called on all people of the state to be happy in spite of difficulties they were facing, saying the days of the PDP’s treasury-looters were numbered. “We shall celebrate in grand style when ‘Nebuchadinezzar’ shall craw on all fours into the forest to suffer for his wickedness against Nigerians including the progressive people of Osun,” he added |
