Violence: Police declare Rivers council chairman wanted

The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday declared the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers, Mr. Sobomabo Jackrick, wanted as a result of the violence in his area.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Mr. Sotonye Wakama, told journalists in Port Harcourt that the CTC chairman was declared wanted following the discovery of arms in his residence.

Jackrich, aka Egberipapa, is a former militant leader who embraced the Federal Government’s amnesty before he was appointed the CTC chairman by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.

He is being declared wanted by the police after the kidnap of his mother by unknown gunmen more than a week ago.

Star Boy boss, Ayodeji Ibahim Balgoun, popularly called Wizkid, appears to have become a house owner in Los Angeles, USA.

The ‘babanla’ crooner, who is on tour for a while now, shared a photo of the said house in L.A and wrote:

Another artiste, Dj Maphorisa of Uhuru, who is with Wizkid in L.A also shared some photos from the house.

Wizkid, who has been plagued with song theft from different artistes, ranging form Dammy Krane to veteran act, Blackface, has been privileged to work with some Grammy award winners like R Kelly, who featured the talented act on his last album, Chris Brown, with whom he performed on stage and rapper Tyga.

Tenant punches landlord dead over electricity bill

Akure—DETECTIVES from Ondo State Police Command have arrested one Tope Akideji, who allegedly punched his 75-year-old landlord, Kayode Osunkalu, to death over electricity bill.

Vanguard gathered that the suspect is being interrogated at the homicide section of the Command.

The deceased, a retired civil servant, owned a two-storey building located at 17, Ayeferere, Street in Ondo town.

Officials of Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, according to a source, reportedly brought a bill to the house and the deceased invited all tenants for talks on how to settle the bill.

A police source informed Vanguard that an argument over the settlement of the bill ensued between the suspect and the landlord when he gave an ultimatum that all tenants should contribute their share within 24 hours.

He was said to have expressed concern over the huge amount owed and directed that all tenants endeavour to pay by all means to avoid disconnection by officials of the electricity company...

Established in 1971 from the facility left behind by the old University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, boasts being the alma mater of many prominent Nigerians. Many of them are indeed captains of industries.

But age is fast telling on the institution, especially its physical infrastructure. Little wonder, many students are complaining about the state of facilities in the 45-year-old institution situated in the Sango area of the sprawling city. Indeed, from the unoccupied lands, hostels to the laboratories, it is a litany of fear and anguish for the students.
