Liverpool left it late to beat Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Monday and will be high on confidence for the reception of Stoke on Boxing Day. Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in seven home league games this season and have scored an average of 2.6 goals in those matches. Stoke will be kicking themselves after they let a 2-0 lead against the 10 men of Leicester slip to only come away with a point from their last match. The Potters are now winless in three matches, although they have only lost one of their last five on the road. Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin will be unavailable for Arsenal as they welcome Basel to the Emirates in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. The France forward is suspended after his red card in the 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain, while midfielder Coquelin picked up a knee injury at the weekend and is set to be out for around three weeks. Rumours linking the 34-year-old free agent to Manchester United and Malmo, as well as speculation that he would announce the end to his international career, have gathered steam but a relaxed Ibrahimovic opted to avoid discussing his future. "I want you to still write a lot of stories, so I get excited when I see them, because I want to see who is making up the best story," he told reporters at Sweden's training camp, where the side are preparing for the Euro 2016 finals in France. what is your take? http://www.9jabet.com/2016/06/01/zlatan-tight-lipped-about-his-next-club/ |

I think I'll follow my heart. It's been a long time for England obviously and we've gone into a lot of tournaments with hope and come home disappointed, but maybe this time it could be worth a few quid. They don't go into it as favourites, but they're in a clutch of teams that have got a chance. I think the way the groups are, with the enlarged format of the competition, it's harder not to get out and then hopefully they can get some momentum and go on a roll. which country did you choose, start predicting now click naijabet.com

Juventus striker Alvaro Morata will only return to Real Madrid if he is guaranteed a starting role, he said on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Morata, named in Spain's Euro 2016 squad, is under contract with Juve until June 2020 but Real can exercise a buy-back clause to re-sign him in July. "My wish is to succeed at Real Madrid, that is clearly what I would like the most," Morata Said. "But Real have great players and what I want is to play and feel important. Next season, I will play in the team which gives me the most opportunities to do so." Morata has also attracted interest from Premier League clubs. Jose Mourinho will not stoke his rivalry with fellow new recruit Pep Guardiola at Manchester City next season because it could damage his team's Premier League title hopes, he said on Tuesday. France coach Didier Deschamps on Tuesday played down any worries of the effect Antoine Griezmann's missed penalty in Atletico Madrid's Champions League final defeat will have on his key player for Euro 2016. The forward struck the crossbar from the spot early in the second half with Atletico trailing to city rivals Real Madrid on Saturday, before they went on to lose on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres has called Saturday's Champions League final with Real Madrid the game of his life as he yearns for a first trophy with his boyhood club. Nigeria’s participation at the 2002 Fifa World Cup in Japan/South Korea is one to easily forget because the Eagles flapped her wings and refused to fly. Despite the disappointment, there were rays of light that shone through the Nigeria set up during the tournament which will be a ‘hammer and anvil’ for a decade after that. Having lost the first game 1-0 to Argentina in the group stage, the Eagles had to beat Sweden to stand any chance of making it into the knock-out stage. Things started brightly for Nigeria when Julius Aghahowa powered home a header to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead. The Swedes later came back to win the game and effectively end Nigeria’s hopes of going into the second round. Nigeria played out a goalless draw against England in the last group game and was knocked out of the competition, but a two stars were born. One of them? Joseph Yobo. Naijabet.com Julius Aghahowa’s goal was a beauty and his celebration afterwards befitted the manner it was scored. Joseph Yobo got an ovation and a half. The new managers of Manchester United and Manchester City will face an early confrontation when the teams meet in a friendly in Beijing on July 25. Jose Mourinho, officially confirmed as United boss on Friday, and old adversary Pep Guardiola, who is replacing Manuel Pellegrini at City, will renew hostilities in the pre-season International Champions Cup. There was little love lost between the pair when Mourinho was in charge at Real Madrid and Guardiola led Barcelona. The rivalry is likely to be just as fierce when United attempt to make up ground on their neighbours, who have finished above them in the Premier League for the past three seasons. Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said Thursday he has chosen his next club but would not give away the name even though he praised Jose Mourinho who is on the verge of becoming Manchester United's coach. "Yes I have made my choice," said Ibrahimovic told a press conference at a training camp near Stockholm for the Swedish national team ahead of Euro 2016. Naijabet.com He said he had decided "long ago." But the 34-year-old dodged all questions about whether that team was Manchester United. Ibrahimovic, who has left Paris Saint-Germain, has been strongly linked to a move to the English Premier League. "There are concrete offers from England, Italy ... all countries. There are even some from outside Europe," said the goalscorer. "There are many, many alternatives." A car park with a spectacular view of Funchal bay now stands on the site of the house where Cristiano Ronaldo grew up and became a football genius in the dusty streets. England must be a bit more streetwise if they are to have any chance of winning the Euro 2016 in France, according to defensive midfielder Eric Dier. England, who play Australia in Sunderland in a warm-up game on Friday, face Russia, Slovakia and Wales in Group B of the 24-team tournament, which starts on June 10. "There are a lot of European and international teams who have that intelligent edge as much as an aggressive edge in the things they do," Dier told British media. "They win fouls in clever places on the pitch, they keep possession, they know how to wind people up, they know how to agitate people. Streetwise is the perfect way to put it. Zinedine Zidane had few equals as a player but heading into his first Champions League final as a coach, he admits that unlike Atletico Madrid counterpart Diego Simeone he still has much to learn. The former France playmaker, who was promoted from Real's reserve team to replace Rafa Benitez in January, steered the side to a runners-up finish in La Liga and Saturday's final in Milan. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane insisted the Champions League's top-scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, will be fit for Saturday's final against Atletico Madrid despite a persistent thigh injury. Zidane confirmed Ronaldo didn't play in a practice match on Saturday as a precaution. The three-time World Player of the Year also came off at half-time of Real's final La Liga game of the season - having scored twice in the first half to take his tally for the season to 51 - at Deportivo la Coruna 10 days ago. "There will be no problem. He felt something on Saturday when we had a game between us and he didn't play as a precaution," Zidane said on Tuesday. "He will be ready for Saturday and I think we are in good shape physically." However, there isn't such good news for French defender Raphael Varane as Zidane confirmed he will miss Saturday's final and his participation at Euro 2016 is now in jeopardy due to a hamstring injury. "It is sure that he will be injured for Saturday," added Zidane. "I expect he will be out for two or three weeks. I hope for him it isn't as severe as anticipated. England manager Roy Hodgson defended his decision to deploy Jamie Vardy in a wide role after the Leicester City striker struck the winner in a 2-1 success against Turkey. Vardy scored 24 goals from a central role to fire Leicester to Premier League glory this season, only to find himself lining up on the left flank in a 4-3-3 formation in Sunday's Euro 2016 warm-up match at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.
