Several international Serie A players have received a ban from travelling from their local ASL and are unable to join their national teams.


The first local health authority that prevented players from joining their national teams was the one of Florence which banned Fiorentina players from leaving the city after José Maria Callejon had tested positive for Coronavirus.

Fiorentina have been closed in a bubble for two days and according to the Serie A protocol they have to self-isolate for ten days since the first case emerged.

Later on Sunday afternoon, other local health authorities in Italy have prevented players from leaving the country and join their national teams.

As of now, players of Sassuolo, Genoa, Roma, Lazio and Inter have been banned from travelling as each one of these teams have at least one positive player within the group.

Six Juventus players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, broke the Juventus bubble last month to join their national teams and were reported by the club to the local ASL which informed the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office who opened an investigation.

Former National Basketball Association All-Star, “Fast” Eddie Johnson, who was hit with a lifetime ban from the NBA for drug use is dead.


He died while serving a life sentence after he was sent to prison for sexual assault of a child.

He was 53-year-old when he got a mandatory life sentence in 2008 after he was found guilty of sexual assault on an 8-year-old girl

The former NBA star was serving the life sentence at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Milton, Florida when an undisclosed illness led to his death.

Liverpool’s Champions League group in chaos after Ajax confirm positive Covid-19 tests.


It is believed that between 11 and 15 players could miss out on the trip to face Midjytlland following a ‘coronavirus bomb’ which could force the club to break UEFA regulations to ensure the game goes ahead.

Ajax have contacted the governing body to ask whether they can fly players out on the morning of the fixture tomorrow (Tuesday), which goes against the policy that travel has to be done the previous day.

Four Nigerian referees have been shortlisted by the Confederation of African Football to officiate in the forthcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between Congo and Eswatini on November 12.


According to the continental football body, Joseph Ogabor, will serve as centre referee for the game at the Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat in Brazzaville.

Ogabor will be assisted by compatriots Samuel Pwadutakam (assistant referee 1) and Efosa Igudia (assistant referee 2), while Lagos-based Quadri Adebimpe will serve as the reserve referee for the game.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed November 9 as the opening date for the team’s camp in Edo State’s capital, Benin, for next month’s 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) double header against Sierra Leone.

The German coach said he was fine-tuning the squad list for the two encounters to be held in Benin on November 13 and Freetown on November 17, adding the injured Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu would be major omissions.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has contracted coronavirus, the world’s governing body announced on Tuesday.


The 50-year-old has mild symptoms and will remain in isolation for a further 10 days, FIFA said in a statement.

Manchester United have joined Paul Pogba, in condemning misleading “fake news” reports around the midfielder, claiming that the 27-year-old has quit the France national team, following comments from France’s President, Emmanuel Macron, alleging that Islam was the source of international terrorism.

Barcelona have released a statement claiming that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is being used against them.


The LaLiga giants claimed it has “had a serious negative impact on FC Barcelona and has benefited its most direct opponents”.

Manchester City have paid tribute to former youth-team player Jeremy Wisten following his death at the age of 17.


Wisten, who played as a centre-back, was born in Malawi and joined City’s Elite Squad at U13 level in 2016.

“The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former Academy player Jeremy Wisten,” the club said a statement on Twitter.

Italy’s Minister for Sport, Vincenzo Spadafora, has reiterated that Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo ‘violated the protocol’ on COVID-19 ‘and there’s an investigation to prove it.’
