Wow! Man, do you have a comprehension problem or what?! I never said Germans weren't called Germans back then. Did you miss when I said the Brits hired German mercenaries?? I said Germany as a country didn't exist until the 19th century. Dude, don't take my word for it, just google it. Everything I said is based on facts.

OMG! Your analogues suck. So many fallacies. I don't even know where to start...

- First, the analogues you gave about world cup and defunct nations have have no relationship to what I said,
- 2nd, Yugoslavia was a Slavic amalgram of multiple slavic race comprised of Croats, Serbs, Slovenians, Slovakians, and Czechs, thus it would be wrong to say Croatia was former Yugoslavia. More technical term is: Croatia was part of former Yugoslavia.
- 3rd, the U.S.S.R weren't all Russians. So wrong again.

Bro, I sincerely think it will be in your best interest to start visiting the internet more often cuz you're so out of it. It's like you've been living under a rock.

Lawd have mercy. shocked grin grin grin

keep blowing grammar that's what u are good at but your facts and stories are filled with clichés...true & false generalized context..if u can't comprehend my ideas don't bother saying stuffs that would make it look like "debate fight"..I bet I use the internet more often and meaningfully than u do...don't believe everything u see online there are other ways of getting facts bro...have a good day...

Wrong again. Back in the 17th century, the Spanish, French, Dutch and the British Empire fought for supremacy over the gold mine that was North america. The indigenous tribes were forced to choose sides, thus temporary alliances were forged. The French allied themselves to war-like indian tribes and for a while had the upperhand. But British Empire being richer could afford to hire German mercenaries to supplement their ranks in the war. Eventually, the tide turned and the Brits ultimately won the war. The war lasted for a period of 7 years and is to be known as "The Indian and French war".

So that's how Britain became the autonomous ruler of North America. She didn't share it with another country whatsoever. Americans eventually rebelled against the crown, and gained independence from Britain, but that's another story

I'd like to point out that Germany didn't exist as a country back then. The Germans lived in several separate independent states (regions) that have their own laws and kings. The biggest german region back then was known as Prussia. Later, the independent states came together in the 19th century to formed a sole German nation named Weimar Republic, but later changed it to DerReich during WWII. The name didn't last though mainly because the Axis lost the war. It was later changed to it's current name, Deutchland (german for Germany) after the WWII.

Hmmm. That's about it.

And stop saying full blooded american. You're not making any sense.
would like to know u person...tough guy...u could only date ur history back to the 17th century...not the medieval periods... your facts are biased and one sided just don't go out there and keep messing people's head with your opinionated theory about America... did I ever say anything about ur post not making sense...we are learners and learning never ends.., most of the things u say are fabricated stories...telling Germans were not called Germans then just like saying west Germany were not Germany when they won the world cup....or Croatians were formerly Yugoslavia.. or Russians were U.S.S.R... or another example is unity bank were formerly bank of the north .... u want to represent they now u refer it as regards to the latter not the former u clearly do not want to accept the fact di caprio is not full bloodied American just because u want to satisfy yourself with theory of this that and then... sorry bro...I do not need to go google and gather facts then come up here and spew it out... my quest for knowledge never dies my brother was a historian in school read his books was young... the pre colonial records shows my facts are right...ask a layman is Obama full bloodied American they will tell u capital no, the media says it all... Trump ancestry whether German or British doesn't account for his race as a full bloodied American.. if u don't know Dwayne Johnson is of Samoan decent...

You really don't get it, do you? Obama and Trump are on the same boat nationality-wise. Trump's Dad was American but the mom was British , and later through marriage, British-American.

Obama's Mom was American, but his dad was Kenyan and eventually, Kenyan-American by marriage. Obama is also a 3rd generation American like Trump. The only things that set them apart are: the color of their respective skins, their contrasting political ideologies, affiliations and charisma. Trump and the American alt-right always like to undermine Obama's American identity because his Dad was black and an African, It's purely racism, propaganda and ignorance, nothing more. Don't buy into all that rubbish.
racism is everywhere, form of tribalism here in Nigeria... I will use mesut ozil as a pure example cuz of his recent fall out with the national team...Barack Obama is black Trump is not.. ask me why...Trump lineage shows traces of all white (Caucasian) though he may have some traces of black trait it ain't my business , Obama's dad is negro..but actual truth still remains Americans were and are never Caucasian they were colonized by British and partly germans.. traces of early history like u made mention of Indians and apache shows they of mixed race (negro, Latino, mexicans etc) ...for that reason Obama was able to become president...there is not like black Americans white Americans all these propangadas were created by whites in america cuz dey dominate the white house...just like people say Lagos is a no man' land we all know history it is a yorubaland... what am saying is for example if they should pick between Channing Tatum and Leonardo DiCaprio they will say Channing is full blood american forget all the citizenship DiCaprio get...just like Januzaj and eden hazard

Trump is 3rd generation American with strong German ancestry. His family name used to be "Drumpf", but the dad Americanized it to Trump. His mom was from the UK, Scotland to be specific. Trump has a 3/4 German blood mixed with 1/4 of Scottish blood. Trump is a not a "full blooded american" whatever that means. The real indigenous Americans are the native tribes like the Apache, Sioux, Cherokee, etc. The white men forcefully took their lands from them, and named the stolen lands USA and Canada respectively.
u are right but on papers he is full american Obama isn't.... they still see DiCaprio the way they see Obama...american but.....

What are on about? There is no such thing as a "full breed american". There is so much that is wrong with that phrase that I don't even know where to begin to rectify some of it.

For one, every American (except for the native indians) immigrated from somewhere at a point in time in history, to the new world (called North America nowadays), and thus can always trace their ancestry from whence their ancestors emigrated from. No American is "full breed american". They all come from somewhere, and most often than not are a mixture of different ancestry. DiCaprio is a good example.

Remember you said he's Italian? Well, you're not wrong, but you aren't right either. He has an italian blood but it goes deeper than that.

Here is how it is: He is a 2nd generation American (born in American soil by immigrant parents). His dad is half-italian on his dad side, hence the Italian surname, half German on the mom side. His mom is half German on the dad side, half Russian on the mom side. Since the German side of his ancestry occurred on both parents, it's safe to say his ancestry is half German, 1/4 italian and 1/4 Russian. German being the dominant ancestry, it's more technically correct to call him a German-American, than an Italian-Amerian or Russian-American. Or better still, just call him an American, cuz that's what he identifies as.
my bad I meant full blood, and u are right about someone not entirely full blood but let assume is parents were unmixed race like father is american like trump and mum is Hilary we would call him full blood which is normal..from the ancestry POV, u are arguably correct

first oscar in 2 decades...nobody in so called state at that time won't feel happy to share gratitude to the crowd knowing fully well in mind that he has been cheated and denied several times...its normal anyone given would appreciate it ..

TV/Movies / Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by sprints2: 12:48pm On Jul 28, 2018
Beorn1:

Leo's Oscar award for The Revenant was not merited, it's more like "dashed" to him because he's been denied on multiple occasions in the past. It's been long overdue that's why he was given that Oscar. The Revenant showed perseverance and determination, and Leo was fantastic in it, but it's nothing so "extraordinary" to deserve an Oscar. Movie was like a wildlife documentary.

Leo has pulled off more epic acting than what was seen on The Revenant. His Oscar-deserving roles are in movies like

Wolf of Wall Street
Departed
Aviator
Catch Me If You Can.
Titanic
Shutter Island

The Revenant is not Oscar worthy. Can you compare the brilliant acting in Wolf of Wall Street to that survival wildlife documentary called The Revenant?
spent 3 weeks finishing that movie cuz I was always sleeping halfway....he won the movie based on physical effort and energy directed towards it...but overall acting certainly not the reason...abegi been watching movie from my mom' womb and telling me an Oscar for that is worthy for someone like DiCaprio nor Casey affleck brie Larson or Frances mcdormand..it's a disappointment on his part and I know he is aware
TV/Movies / Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by sprints2: 12:35pm On Jul 28, 2018
KoiceReloaded:

I disagree. His method acting on The Revenant was spectacular.

Attacked by a bear, mauled half to death, managed to kill said bear, left for dead by his colleagues, son got murdered protecting him, somehow able to rouse himself up inspite of his injuries, buried son, evade native indian attack, saved a native indian woman from gang-rape, stole horses, killed a few Frenchmen, took shelter inside the gut of a dead horse, ate a raw meat to keep from starvation, managed to make it back to base, sets out again the following morning, tracked his son's murderer down, fought him, defeated him in a short but brutal scuffle.

The spectacular part? He did very little talking in the whole process. Why? 'Cuz he didn't need to. He knew to convey the necessary emotions through his body language and expressions, that any more dialogue than was needed would have done him a disservice. Method acting 101. Very few actors have this particular talent/skill.

Great Gatsby is awesome, and yes, he deserved an Oscar for it. Hell, he deserved an Oscar for more than half of all of his movies.
Oscar never seem to amuse me...Cassey affleck banged an Oscar for the same close method acting in Manchester by Sea..brie Larson and Frances mcdormand also won an Oscar for her role in the room and 3 billboard in missouri ... particularly the only reason I would say they deserved it is because the 95% of the movie scene were all about them they mist have really exhausted a lot of energy same with DiCaprio aside that acting isn't top notch the way u parade it..seen DiCaprio in blood diamond, great gasby, django unchained, many more I can say revenant is not even close... this same brie Larson did better in glass castle than the stupid the room movie....

Yeah.

The movie is not average at all. It's a masterpiece.

James McAvoy deserves awards for his performance. I truly believed his different characters
IDMB ratings are not always based on movie plot or how interesting the movie is...the genre of the movie could be a factor mostly thriller/biography and drama attimes are always rated high whether sweet or no sweet...it could be determined by the movie success on rents and sales, production company etc... forget their ratings... terminal was rated poorly but believe me the movie is mind blowing...James McAvoy has always been excellent particularly enjoyed his role in victor Frankenstein

Shutter Island is a masterpiece. I was so pissed that DiCaprio didn't win an Oscar for it, but then The Oscars is mostly a political institution atm.

At first, I was completely mindf**ked by the ending, but after watching the film again, I figured it out. Edward was completely sane at the end, but chose to pretend to be insane rather than to live with the memory of what he did and what happened to his kids.

You can never go wrong with a DiCaprio movie. The man's name is synonymous with quality. All movies he played a prominent character in are consistently good.

- The Departed (Holy sh*t!)
- Catch me if you can (the movie is aptly named)
- Blood Diamond (thriller)
- The Wolf of Wall Street (classic DiCaprio)
- The Revenant (he finally won an Oscars with this one)
- Inception (His biggest mindf**k movie to date)
- The Great Gatsby (Very emotional)
- Django Unchained (typical Tarantino flick)
- Titanic (Everyone has seen this at least twice in their lives)
- The Man in the Iron Mask (one of his most difficult roles because he played two different characters with contrasting characteristics)
- Poison Ivy (young DiCaprio. His breakout role)
- The Aviator
- Body of Lies
- Gangs of New York

If you're into more mindf**ks, check out:

- Donnie Darko
- Se7en (Holy sh*t)
- Looper
- Primer
- Mr. Nobody
- Triangle
- Fight Club
- Predestination
- Prestige
- American Psycho
- The Usual Suspects
- Cloud Atlas
- Source Code
- V for Vendetta (Remember Mr Smith from the Matrix trilogy?)
- Edge of Tomorrow (Tom Cruise at his best)
- The life of Pi
- Identity
- 12 Monkeys

I plucked the list directly from my HDD. I have had them for years. They are so good that I can't bring myself to delete any of them. I've deleted some, but not these.
I don't like the revenant movie was bored all through..this movie shouldn't av been the one that delivered him the Oscar...great gasby should av been the one...I don't know why people don't talk about "the beach" by DiCaprio...really liked the movie... my issue is not having these movies but to create the to watch the movies I have seen before is my problem... the best I do is watch fight scenes that's all...but to watch a movie again from beginning to the end...with the kind of access I have to get new movies is my problem
