I finally bot that plastic type that looks like mortar and pestle and it works just fine, I searched for the other type in my area but didn't see, I don't want to go all the way just to search for the bowl. We don launch our first mashed food this afternoon

What I do is to scope the quantity my baby can finish in a small bowl nd place the bowl in hot water for it to get warm nd yes, u can refrigerate it but for few days I think. But am no longer giving her this type, the one we are on now is the cereal( it's in a dry form like gerber cereal). I will post the pix tomorrow.

I don't tink its d same oo, d 1 I saw was fruit puree in small glass jar. I tink d company has diferent food n fruit products for babies.

Someone has already suggested a mash bowl.

There are baby food blenders which are essentually mini blenders.... and some can be quite pricey. I think they are an unneccesary gadget if you have other alternatives... save your money to use on other stuff.

What i found works for me is a hand held blender.... i got one few years back and its been gathering dust until now.... so glad i didnt throw it out!

pls can u put up a picture of d hand held blender, let me no if its same wt wot I have in mind?

Good mornin mamas, as regards to the marchin of food n fruits. can sm1 explain to me wot u used and how to do it. cos I tried wt baby plate n spoon bt it didn't com wel, as in nt smooth.

Dear Mamas, my ds will be 4 months in 2 days time. I got him Nan when he was 3 months but he wont take it. He wont even take water either bottle fed or spoon fed. He takes bm alone. Wanna start him on pap, don't know if its advisable or if he'll take it.

Yes u can start givin him pap wt d formular, I started givin my lo pap @ 4 months. jst mk sure its watery, as in light pap.

Give him the bread please. Ensure he drinks adequate water too.

Teething presents/affects babies differently you just have to go with the flow for your baby and make him as comfortable as you can during the period.

Also am realy frustrated as he has refused 2 eat all d food dat he used 2 eat b4 such as pap n cereals. He s teethin now, don't no if that s d reason. But den wot els can I gv him as he only wants bm.
Pls 4 hw long wil this teethin last since he doesn't show any symptom, so i ll no wen to resume with d pap n cereal to avoid wastage. he s active n strong.

@don't use any infant formula especially stage 1 after 4 weeks or 31days of opening. ( depending on the product) but it should not exceed 31days.

pls maam, does this hav any proven side effect or its just 2 b on d safe side?
I ask because d 1 I used 4 my lo stayed more dan a month b4 he cud finish it.

Yes dear, my God came 2 my rescue as d devil wanted 2 put fear in me.
my ds was later tested negative after we went d 2nd time 4 d test. I was opotuned 2 attend a free malaria test that was organised by d state min of health yestday. there an then the test came out negative. even I too tested negative. My ds is healthy, active n full of energy. don't no hw d hosp came up wt d positive result, dou it was a health center. I swear neva 2 enta dat place again.

Hello mummies in the house. I'm new here and just stumbled on this thread a few days ago. Please I have a question. My baby is 9 weeks old and we had visitors yesterday whose 4 month old baby has ela (not sure what it is in English)

My question now is- is ela transmissible? Because suddenly today the side of my baby's hair has fallen off and I feel this is too much of a coincidence. Also, I'd like to attack it head on if that's what it is. What would you advise as best course of treatment?

You have described my symptoms. I have a dust allergy and used to have mild asthma. It runs in my family, so we are all used to it. Anti-bacterial meds won't help. I don't want to mention the meds I take (and yes, there is a children's version of it but I don't want to prescribe without a diagnosis) but speak to your doctor and more importantly, start looking for what is triggering the cough, when does it start. Can you clean the entire house with a damp rag (so the dust doesn't fly around)
Or take baby to somewhere else dust free and see if he gets better. The dust mites, mold, cockroaches and perfumed products (even Raid or those pink mosquito papers) in the air could trigger it.

Kendlez, please start looking for triggers like dust. one of the consultants i asked mentioned she thought it was an allergy. My eyes would water and i'd be unable to breathe and my nose would be burning inside (it would be runny and bring out mucous), so I would start breathing from my mouth (gasping for air). Your babies sound like me. But you need a confirmation from a doctor.

What I'd advise is to make notes of the symptoms and what triggers it, meet up with your doctor and discuss if the baby can be prescribed anti-allergy meds (it is a liquid, sweet actually). You have to sound knowledgable so do your research (Nigerian doctors are used to handle patients who know little about their bodies or medicine so they may want to ignore your suggestions. That's why you have to do your homework). See if you can get a different diagnosis. HTH

this is d 1st time am experiencin this type of cough wt my lo. though he s fine now, ie, breathes normal. But I ll stil look in2 ur suggestions 2 avoid future occurence. thanks n God bless

My 6 months old baby coughs so hard he vomits and he's been scratching his eyes too since like 3 months ago (we saw a pead concerning the eyes and he prescribed chlorophenical eye drop which we used but the itching started again after a while).

I saw a paed in our private hospital on monday and she checked him and said his chest is clear that maybe it's infection and so she prescribed "Orelox Antibotics" which we've been administering since tuesday.

My mother-in-law is an advocate of govt hospitals as against private hospitals (she feels they are quacks) and has insisted we must go to BMH to see a paed there. We went today and after checking him the paed also said his chest is clear and said I shud place him on "clarithromycin antibiotic" and I shud discontinue the "Orelox" I've been using since tuesday.
Am so confused abt what to do. Has anyone experienced this symptom with her baby before? or does anyone know abt or used this orelox or clarithromycin antibiotic?
Help a confused mum.

my dear, its like we both share dsame fate, the incessant cough dat leads to vomiting accompanied with eye and nose scratching.i took my lo 2 d hosp, dou not a paed, augmentin antibiotics wt cough syrup n vit.c was prescribed 4 my lo. d cough has stoped but the breathing sound is stil not yet normal. stil on medication and wit faith in God, i beliv hes fine.
since u ve used the orelox past 3 days and no improvement. discontinue use and try d new prescription. always pray for ur lo, with faith he ll b fine, no fear oo.

I know plain pap doesn't spoil fast even if you don't put in fridge.

yes, i do add little cloves of ginger and garlic. learnt dat from a neighbor. but i don't think dats d cause. added water n kept in d fridge 2day, will check d outcome by moro. thanks 4 ur contribution

after doin d raw pap,share into two,put one in d freezer,d oda one put it inside a container dat hv cover,dats d one u wil b using til it finishes b4 using d one in d freezer..
den cova dat particular 1 wt water,pour nd put in a new fresh water everymorning or wheneva u want to mk pap,with dis u wont b seeing any white patches.

As a matter of fact Ma, your soap shouldn't take that long to solidify. If all things are ok, your soap should solidify within 24 hours, latest. Within this period, you should be able to remove your soap freely from the mold and leave to cure.

In some cases, depending on the type of trace you obtain before pouring the mixture into the mold (light or heavy trace). Heavy trace usually solidify in few hours, like 4-6 hours.

In conclusion, madam your soap might be on a 'long thing'. Tell us exactly what you did and I can help identify where you went wrong.

I 1st disolved 1/2 tin milk cup of caustic soda n soda ash with 3 milk tin cups of water n alow it 2 stay ovag night.
I mixed little sodium silicate wt d disolved caustic soda. I put 2 n half milk tins of pko in bucket ( cos dats d quantity I hav), I added d caustic soda n ss mixture to d pko in d bucket. stired, I added d disolved soda ash n perfume n stir, til it became a litle tick like pap, den I poured in moulds.
that's wot I saw in 1 of ur lessons here, jst not sure of my measurements.
