‘Cinderella’ took us down memory lane by sampling with great classic Nigerian Music. Olu samples with ‘Eddie Quansa’ by the Peacock’s Guitar Band, the sound track of the 90s popular sitcom, The New Masquerade, and interpose it with lyrics from legendary Nigerian Highlife Maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo’s classic ‘Mami Water’.

The single is Kenny Wonder’s production. Music pundits claim the song will resonate with older fans of Nigerian Music.

The Yahooze crooner is said to be presently down financially with his landlord asking him to evacuate his apartment since he has not been able to pay his rents.

The singer who lives on Akin Osiyemi street,Off Allen Avenue Ikeja, Lagos would have been thrown out of the apartment by uniform men if not for the timely intervention of a good neighbour.

Olu Maintain’s career started in 1997 with a group called Maintain. The group was made up of Olu and Tolu, his cousin but the group split with both members going their different ways.

Some days ago, Ogunrobi Olakunle, better known as K-Peace, was announced winner of season 5 of the Nigerian Idol, a music talent hunt competition sponsored by a telecommunication company in Nigeria.

Part of what K-Peace got for emerging winner of the show was a cash prize of N7.5million.

K-Peace won the hearts of judges, audience and viewers of the competition with his blend of the Fuji music with hip-hop.

After coming top in the show, the singer has disclosed how he intends to spend his money.

"Right now, the world has accepted it and I will keep at it. Apart from music, I am also into lease of musical equipment business. I have just few types of equipment that I give out for events and in this light, I will invest my money in that and also finish an uncompleted building with four mini flats and go into real estate family business."

K-Peace beat other finalist, Modoluwamu Ogunmoyero, also known as Dolu to win the money. He also gets a recording contract with an international music label

According to Vanguard reports that pastor Seyi Adekunle Of the winners chapel was kidnapped while he was having a prayer session in preparation for Sunday service when five gunmen stormed the church premises, shooting loudly into the air. He was however thrown into the car and they zoomed off with the pastor at about 7:50pm.

The kidnapped pastor Seyi is the head pastor of Province Two of the Church situated along IBB Way, opposite the Margaret Ekpo International Airport. Major construction works have been ongoing in the church since 2014 that the pastor joined the branch of the church.

An anonymous member of the church talked about the incident saying:

“Normally on Saturdays, we have a number of activities but the pastors prayer session comes last, it was while the session was in progress that the boys came in, shot into the air and took our pastor away”.

‘He came here in 2014 and has been doing a lot work through the construction of a massive complex for the church auditorium and office accommodation which might have given the kidnappers the impression that he has money to give them as ransom”.

The church had its normal service today with pastor Seyi’s assistant in charge but not without the heavy presence of the Nigerian police force all around the church’s presence premises.

“There was no policeman on duty here yesterday when the incident happened but this morning we had to request for some policemen from the Airport Police Station close by and these six policemen you see here were deployed to forestall any recurrence of what took place last night”

Mr Hogan Bassey, the spokesman of the Cross River State Police Command says the kidnappers are yet to make any demands “but we are closing on them and very soon I shall inform you on how far we have gone” he said

It was just reported that Wild animals including lions, tigers, bears, jaguars, wolves and other animals escaped from their zoo this morning after serious flood and are currently roaming the streets of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia (a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia).

According to officials in the city capital, the flooding has killed at least 8 people and several animals in the zoo died. The ones that didn't die in the flood, which happened after a river burst its banks in central Tbilisi after hours of torrential rain, are now roaming the streets. Dozens of families are now without shelter after their homes were flooded and cars swept away. Thousands of people are currently left without water and electricity.

Some of the animals that escaped from their enclosure have been captured by security forces while the more dangerous one have been shot dead.

The famous South African paralympian who shot his girlfriend at his home on Valentine's day February 14th 2013 is set to be released from Kgosi Mampuru prison in two months time, after serving 10 months in prison, it has been revealed.

After he leaves prison around August, he will be under house arrest.

However, Oscar's murder acquittal is set to be appealed. Prosecutors have until August 17th to appeal a judge's decision and take Oscar back to court.

According to Sundiata Post, Buhari has been in regular discussions with the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan and other former Nigerian leaders including Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo, Yakubu Gowon and Shehu Sagari on whom to appoint as members of the next Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The president’s action, it was revealed, was due to some unrealistic demands of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the APC, alongside other chieftains of the party.

The revelation was made last weekend among some friends of Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, during a ‘thank you’ visit to Buhari at the defence house in Abuja.

It was suggested that this may have also been the reason president Buhari has kept the APC leaders in the dark concerning major and crucial decisions of government.

After the meeting, the president said that he would run an all-inclusive government against the thoughts of Tinubu and some APC caucuses, adding that Nigeria is an aircraft while Tinubu and the APC are its pilots.

The Minority Leader of the 7th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the House’s speakership.

Wave making singer, Wizkid, has just been honoured by Cyprus International University, where he is scheduled to perform.

Before his performance, the singer was given the award of recognition from the University for his Outstanding Role as a singer.

More than 150 people have died in a devastating petrol station blast during heavy flooding in Ghana’s capital, prompting the nation’s leader to call three days of national mourning over the “catastrophic” loss of life.

The fire hit a filling station in Accra late on Wednesday, causing an explosion at the pumps that killed dozens of people seeking shelter from torrential rains and widespread flooding in the area that also claimed numerous victims.

Another painful death has struck the Nigerian entertainment industry as the life of a beautiful lady, who worked with Rhythm 93.7 FM in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was cut short by some men of the underworld.

The victim, identified as Iphie Aggrey-Fynn, was shot along the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway yesterday, Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

The dark-skinned and lovely lady, who was born in Ghana, was also blogger, a writer and a motivational speaker.

It was gathered that she met her untimely death after she had gone to see her parents in Aba, Anambra State, and was on her way back to Port Harcourt when the vehicle she boarded was attacked by some armed robbers.

Unfortunately, as the driver attempted to speed off, the gunmen opened fire on them, killing Iphie.

Meanwhile, her body has been deposited in a morgue, while burial plans are been made by the bereaved family.

Rafael Benitez will take charge of Real Madrid next season after the club confirmed he had signed a three-year deal with the Spanish giants on Wednesday.
“Real Madrid will present today, Wednesday, June 3, Rafa Benitez as the new coach of the first team for the next three seasons,” the club said in a statement.
Benitez will give a press conference at 1100GMT at the club’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The appointment brings Benitez’s coaching career full circle as he returns to the club where he made his first steps as a youth team coach in the early nineties.

Benitez is also returning to Spain for the first time in over a decade after making a name for himself with two league titles in three years at Valencia between 2001 and 2004.

However, commentators and fans have been skeptical at his appointment at the expense of the well-loved Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked by the club last week.

Ancelotti ended a 12-year wait to land Madrid’s much desired 10th Champions League last season, but paid the price for failing to deliver a major trophy this season with eternal rivals Barcelona on the brink of sealing a treble.

Moreover, Benitez has failed to land a league title in the 11 years since he swapped Valencia for Liverpool.

The 55-year-old’s greatest achievement in that time came in winning the Champions League in his first season at Liverpool. However, he delivered only the UEFA Super Cup and the FA Cup in 2006 in the five years that followed at Anfield.

Benitez then had a nightmare experience following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan where he lasted just six months and another short-lived unhappy spell at Chelsea followed as he was never accepted by the fans despite winning the Europa League in 2013.

A two-year spell with Italian giants Napoli also came to an unsatisfactory end on Sunday with a 4-2 home defeat to Lazio which ensured they did not qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Benitez could face a frosty reception from Real’s horde of ‘galacticos’ who were very much against Ancelotti’s sacking.

“Great coach and amazing person. Hope we work together next season,” World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo posted on his official Twitter days before the Italian’s dismissal.
Meanwhile, a host of other players including Sergio Ramos, James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos also took to social media to thank Ancelotti for his time at the club.

In contrast to the affable Ancelotti, Benitez is known for being a strict disciplinarian and obsessive tactician which will put new demands on the most expensively assembled squad in football history.

Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel caused a stir last week when he tweeted: “Benitez on his way to Real? He will make Ronaldo a great defender…”

However, another of Benitez’s perceived faults during his time in England, his persistent squad rotation, has helped him to land his dream job.

Whilst Barcelona boss Luis Enrique gave his players a rest at every opportunity early in the season, Ancelotti rotated very little even in Madrid’s easiest games and consequently saw his side run out of gas at the business end of the season.

Benitez will get his first taste of the demands at Los Blancos on a gruelling pre-season tour to Australia and China for friendlies against Roma, Manchester City, Inter Milan and AC Milan in July.

Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has announced the appointment of Malam Balarabe Abbas-Lawal as the Secretary to the State Government.
Abbas-Lawal, a former Chief of Staff to El-Rufai when he was Minister of the FCT, was the Chairman, All Progressives Congress Kaduna Transition Committee.

El-Rufai, in a statement by him on Wednesday, also named Malam Salisu Suleiman as his Principal Private Secretary while Mr. Abu Sheyin will serve as Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor-elect, Mr. Barnabas Bala.

Also, the Governor-elect announced the appointment of Mr. Bala Yunusa as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative Affairs) while Mr. Samuel Aruwan will serve as Special Assistant on Media to the Governor.

Aruwan worked as spokesman for the Kaduna State APC Campaign Council in the 2015 elections.

He began his journalism career at Leadership Newspapers. Until his appointment, he was the Kaduna Bureau Chief of the Blueprint Newspapers Limited.

The new SSG, a former lecturer, served as the Chief of Staff when El-Rufai was minister of the FCT.

He was also a director in the Nasir El-Rufai Campaign Organisation.

The new PPS holds a Ph.D in Public Policy.

Suleiman worked in the public sector and the academia.

Sheyin, the Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor-elect, is a former Secretary and Acting Chairman of Jemaa Local Government.

Yunusa, a Deputy Chief of Staff(Legislative Affairs) is a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

He worked in the Kaduna State APC Campaign Council and served on a sub-committee of the Transition Committee.

The meeting at which this will occur will be presided over by the President in Abuja.

During the session, the President is expect to give a speech highlighting the achievements of his administration since May 29, 2011.

Not many worshippers turned up for church service yesterday due to the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country. As we heard, it even affected the offerings in some churches in Lagos as there was a drop in the normal amount people give.

President Jonathan today commissioned the Armed Forces Radio station in Abuja. The Radio station will be received on 107.7FM and is expected to provide balanced, fair reporting of the Nigerian military and their operations.

The sad news of the passing away of veteran actor, Mr. Femi Robinson, popularly known as the Village Headmaster has been announced.
The late TV star was very famous for the role he played in the television series by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

He died yesterday, Wednesday, May 20 aged 75.

His two sons Seun and Wole Robinson announced his death on his Facebook page.

The Facebook status read, "This is to notify you that we lost our father, Femi Robinson this morning – Seun & Wole Robinson (sons)."

However, the real cause of his death wasn't mentioned by the bereaved son
Ironically, his last post on Facebook was on Friday where he talked about protecting one's family name, urging the public to join hands with him and fight corruption.

The late Robinson was a graduate of Botany at the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in the 60s.

His burial announcement hasn't been announced by his family members.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the retreat will be held at the Ibeto Hotel in Apo area of the city.

It urged the Senators-elect to arrive at the venue where accommodation arrangement has been made for them, by 6 p.m. on Friday, May 22nd, as there will be a closed door meeting between all Senators- elect and party leaders at 8 p.m. of the same day.

”The two-day retreat is part of efforts being undertaken by the party to ensure that the legislators hit the ground running for the benefit of Nigerians,” APC said

Good, i was not shortlisted though, buh i am desperate to get a msg for the APL, so i started calling my relative to inform them on my plans luckily for me one of them have a very good connection which i didnt know b4, i got connected to the man (i wont disclose the name here), and the man told me to forward my details without collecting a dime than a #400 recharge card. he further to tell me that some names will release this nite,friday and monday is the last day.
