Chelsea football club midfielder Willian
picked Barcelona forward Lionel Messi
over Real Madrid star Cristiano
Ronaldo for the Ballon d’Or award, but
believes teammate Eden Hazard will
surely clinch the best player award soon. Belgium winger Hazard faced criticism
from club boss Jose Mourinho after a
slow start to the 2015-16 campaign. “I choose Messi over Ronaldo for the
best player award,” Willian was
quoted as saying by goal.com on
Thursday. But Willian is convinced that Hazard is
capable of one day being crowned the
best player in the world, and is
adamant that his international
compatriot Neymar will also come into
contention for the Ballon d’Or award. “I think so Hazard and Neymar can
also win the Ballon d’Or. They are two
great players. I think it depends on
them, but they have great potential to
reach that level. So I think if they
continue to develop, continue to grow, certainly they will have
everything to achieve this award,” he
said. Willian spoke of his admiration for
former Barcelona playmaker
Ronaldinho, insisting the Brazilian is
his idol in football and that he thinks,
in his prime, Ronaldinho was a better
player than both Messi and Ronaldo. “Ronaldinho is the biggest idol in
football for me. I like him a lot. I’ve met
him, but I never got to say that he is
my idol. In my opinion, I think that
Ronaldinho, at that time (between
2003 and 2005), was bigger than Messi and Ronaldo,” Willian said.

As the dust settles following the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State, there are already plans being put in place by the Kogi West and Central Forum for Equity and Justice, to produce their own consensus candidate to be the next Governor of the State via the November 21 polls. The APC primaries produced former Governor, Abubakar Audu who hails from the East region of the State amidst several corruption cases hanging on his head.Audu emerged winner beating other candidates that hail from either the West or the Central regions against the wishes of both regions who have repeatedly decried the marginalization and injustice meted by the Igala-led Government since the State’s inception. In another development, analysts have predicted the return of incumbent, Idris Wada, an indigene of the East and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate could be the choice the other regions line up behind. In the event they decide against such a move, the last hope the Power Shift has may be to resort to supporting a candidate from outside the two major parties, (the APC and the PDP). In a bid to produce the next Governor, there is mounting speculation that the West and Central regions could field a candidate that they want to challenge both Audu In reaction to the speculations, The Chairman, Media & Publicity, Kogi West and Central Forum for Equity and Justice, Tom Adaba, said there is no concrete arrangement on what to do at the moment but admitted a move could be underway soon. “We have things in mind,” he stated before adding; “Why is it not possible? Once we get our house in order because this time, we have learnt our lessons.” General Julius Oshanupin (retired), who also reacted confirmed a possibility of achieving such a feat but stressed that there was nothing concrete at the moment. “As it is, we have not taken that decision. It takes us to meet and decide together,” he said. Oshanupin hinted that the politicians failed to arrive at a consensus and it cost the Forum at the just concluded APC primaries leading to the emergence of Audu from the East. He however stressed that the forum will not give up and if the politicians who initially failed to agree at first can come together to have a consensus, then “your guess is as good as mine.”...http://www.post-nigeria.com/audu-wada-to-be-rejected-forum-considering-alternative/ |

[quote author=starkid7k post=37678799]Following the alleged lopsided appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari, a cross section of members within the National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have raised alarm over plans to ignore “party supremacy” in the composition of the Executive cabinet. The chairman of the APC, John Oyegun had recently announced plans by the party to ensure that Buhari abided by the dictates of “party supremacy” in the ministerial appointments, hinting that the party was being carried along. Against this backdrop, an APC chieftain and former Governor who is now a serving senator disclosed to THISDAY that Buhari’s body language has continued to keep the party in the “dark” on the issue of Ministers, adding that he would be committing political suicide if he goes ahead with plans to neglect the party’s preferences. “The President would be signing the death warrant of the APC if he chooses not to carry the party along in his appointment of Ministers.” Another APC chieftain also warned that Buhari may face a brick wall in getting the Senate’s confirmation if leaders of the party were not carried along. “I am sure the President knows the huge political implications of not carrying leaders of our party along in his ongoing efforts to appoint his Ministers. “I can tell you confidently that the ministerial list will not pass through the Senate” In contrast to this development, POST NIGERIA reported that another APC head honcho, Solomon Edojah earlier attributed the delay in appointing Ministers to an ongoing intensive consultations with leaders of the party aiming for an equitable sharing formula in fielding in nominations. He added this was especially the case for the “juicy” ministerial positions. This current controversy according to political observers could account for whispers claiming there could be an extension of the expected date for announcing the names of Ministers beyond September. Presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu has however dispelled such insinuations. Shehu stated on Friday, September 4, during an interview on Channels TV that barring any unforeseen circumstances, Nigerians should expect an announcement by September 30 at the latest. “I think Nigerians should give Buhari the benefit of doubt till September 30 for the appointment to be made. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will keep to his promise” Buhari’s latest appointments have continued to raise high expectations and objections from Nigerians in regards to the pattern and rationale behind the appointments. Reacting to Buhari’s appointments so far, former University Don from the University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, Musa Mudashiru asked Nigerians to brace up for more surprises especially in the upcoming ministerial list, hinting that the APC would be traumatized after the announcement of the Ministers. “You can see the way he is making his appointments, bringing on board people that you and I least expect after subjecting them to some screening without prejudice. “In the same manner, the man will shock Nigerians with his ministerial list which is being expected before this month (September) runs out.” |

After 100 Days: NANS List Buhari's Achievements The President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government at the centre has been commended by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun state chapter. The student-body stated that just days to the administration’s first one hundred days in office, their performance have been above average. Ogun state students at a rally recently This was contained in a statement issued today September 2 and signed by the state chairman, Comrade Dotun Opaleye, ak.a. Zamora The body disclosed that it undertook a periodic review of the performance of the representatives and leaders as part of ways to deepen democracy in order to entrench accountability. While assessing the Buhari administration in the last 100 days, NANS revealed that, in terms of the economy, the APC led government has restored confidence to the minds of the investors, but disclosed that the inability to name someone as the Finance Minister and appointments to other Ministries is causing a major setback economically. The students’ body praised the government for the improvement witnessed so far in the area of power generation, corruption and fight against the insurgency. NANS however appealed to the President to assist in getting the young innocent girls (Chibok Girls) abducted last year by the Boko Haram insurgents, as it promised during the electioneering campaign. According to the statement, “Many investors are still in a state of limbo as to what to expect from this new administration. Buhari has also managed to stabilize the Naira against further slide to the dollar. “Power supply has also improved mainly due to the fear of Buhari’s no nonsense personality rather than any pragmatic move by Mr President. We still await large amount of megawatts promised by the APC during the last presidential campaigns. “Security especially in the Northeast has improved slightly. We believe that the three months ultimatum handed down by Buhari to his service chiefs is a wonderful step in the right direction, as we eagerly anticipate the return of the ‘Chibok girls’ abducted on the 14th of April 2014 by the dreaded terrorists, it is incredibly mind boggling that the #bringbackourgirls group have been loudly silent during President Buhari’s administration raising doubts about the sincerity and non partisanship of the leaders of the group who were very audible and conspicuous during the Jonathan era. “Politically, Buhari has been fairly consistent with his ideology. His intention of restoring the defunct National carrier Nigerian airways reveals people oriented approach and his socialist leanings,” the statement said. The Ogun NANS however advice the president to start with a short term plan to improve the lot of the average Nigerian....http://latesnaijanews..com/2015/09/after-100-days-nans-list-buharis.html?spref=fb
