Education / New International Passport: Application, Costs And Requirements by Stevemartinsu: 9:43am On Jul 04, 2019
A passport is an official document issued by the government of a country to her citizens to grant them access for the purpose of international movements or travels. Since the introduction of the new international passport in Nigeria, a lot of people have not been informed of the new changes in price and application methods and the types of passport available. As we already know, the passport is a very important personal means of identification and a document anybody needs to travel abroad so it's important we understand the details about it. The current E-Passport which was launched by President Mohammadu Buhari was divided into two types - the 64-pages and the 32-pages and both have different prices and the validity period now lasts up to 10 years, unlike the previous one with 4 years.

Below is a breakdown of the passport types, their prices and durations.

1 The cost of 32-page five-year standard passport price is N25,000.

2 64-page five-year standard passport costs N35,00.

3 64-page 10-year standard passport price is N70,000

4 32-page five-year official passport costs N15,000.

However, based on experience, one applying for a passport at any immigration office in Nigeria needs to have more than these amounts specified. As at the 03/07/2019, the 32-page five-year standard at Immigration Office in Ikoyi, Lagos State costs around N40,000-N50,000. The extra fees, which we don't understand, maybe the charges imposed by the immigration officer processing your passport. Another very important thing you need to know before applying for the new international passport is that you must have a National Identity Card. This has been made mandatory recently. The Nigerian ID card must be processed and the temporal ID obtained before the international passport can be processed. The National ID is totally free and the temporal ID can be processed in one day or in a few days.

Weight loss and gain generally are two of the most disturbing things in women’s lives. When are are two slim, they want to add a little more weight and when they are too fat, they are concerned about it and seek for every possible means to shake off some weight. Weight loss and gain have contributed to some of the most common reasons why women face relationship crisis, go into depressions, develop low self-esteems, etc. However, we have found that trying to lose weight is more of a problem and concern to women than trying to gain weight. And when it comes to losing weight, every woman can agree with me that achieving it comes with a combination of hard physical exercise, change of best diet, purposeful starving of oneself, eating what is just not your food, use of waist trainers, medical methods, etc. We have therefore listed some best weight loss practices you can try as you embark on the journey of reverting or acquiring a that hourglass or coca-cola bottle figure.

Usually, diet and exercise have been known to be the most effective weight loss approach aside medical methods, but many other factors play their roles too. In fact, studies have revealed that everything from sleep quality to stress levels can have a major impact on hunger, metabolism, body weight, and belly fat. Luckily, all you may just have to add to your already routine are little changes and you may just be on your way to hitting that killer figure you can be proud to parade around the streets and everywhere else with.

Education / HIV And AIDS: What You Need To Know About Them by Stevemartinsu: 12:32pm On May 05, 2019
HIV, short for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is the virus which causes AIDS, short for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.
Now let's share facts you probably don't know about HIV and AIDS.

Many people don't know that HIV is actually different from AIDS. However, the two terms have become popular among people of all ages. Below are facts you need to know about HIV and AIDS.

HIV is a virus which can be transmitted through contact with the blood or fluid of an infected person and the most common means of transmission is through unprotected sexual intercourse with the infected person. The virus fights the immune system which is our body's natural defence against diseases or infections. The virus can be found in semen, vagina and anal fluid, breast milk and in blood. Note that the virus can't be transmitted through saliva, urine or sweat.

Pregnant women infected with the virus are most likely to pass it on to their babies in the womb, during child birth or during breastfeeding. Early detection and immediate follow up with treatment can reduce the risk of the transmission.

Health / Top 10 Deadliest Diseases In The World by Stevemartinsu: 3:05am On May 04, 2019
As many people may think, HIV/AIDS is the the deadliest disease in human history and as such, they dread it so much. However, only few people are aware that there are diseases which have killed more humans and are deadlier than the sexually transmitted disease.

In this post, we have compiled a list of 10 deadliest diseases in the world today and a brief knowledge about them.

1. Ischemic heart disease or Coronary artery disease (CAD)
This is unarguably the deadliest disease in the world today and occurs when the blood vessels which supply blood to the heart become narrowed. If not treated, CAD can result to chest pain, heart failure and arrhythmias.

Though the deadliest, deaths resulting from this disease have decreased in the developed countries while in developing countries, cases of mortality as a result of the disease are still high, mainly due to poor medical and health facilities, personnels, and cost, increasing life span, socioeconomic changes and lifestyle risks.

The following are risk factors for Coronary artery disease:

High blood pressure (HBP), high cholesterol, smoking, family history of CAD, diabetes,
obesity or being overweight

Ensure to have a discussion with a doctor when you have any of these risk factors.

The good thing is that CAD is preventable by medications and by living a healthy lifestyle. Doing the following will be very helpful.

Regularly exercising, keeping a healthy weight (don't get too fat, obese or over weight), staying on a balanced diet that has low sodium content but high in fruits and vegetables, quitting or abstaining from smoking, lowering alcohol consumption

Food / Insomnia/sleeplessness:proven Ways To Deal With It by Stevemartinsu: 4:20pm On May 03, 2019
Struggling to get a good sleep at night can be really challenging in this part of the world where our daily hustles and tussles are not friendly at all. Sleeplessness or most commonly known medically as insomnia is a common problem that can take a toll on one's life, mood, energy and ability to perform well in the day. Chronic insomnia can even contribute to serious medical problems.

Insomnia is simply the inability to fall asleep or maintain a good sleep in the night, and as a result, keeps one awake or makes one unable to stay asleep as supposed to. It is not about the number of hours you sleep at night as different people sleep for different number of hours, but the satisfaction one derives from one's sleep. You could sleep for 8 hours at night and still feel fatigued or weak in the day. It's a sign of insomnia. Causes of insomnia can differ from person to person and it can be as a result of taking too much caffeine in the day or thinking about a problem to a serious underlying medical condition. However, the good news is that you can cure insomnia by yourself without having to depend on medical prescriptions or over the counter (OTC) pills. This can be achieved by making certain changes on your way of life.

Education / Aaua Shut Down By Students Following Tuition Fees Hike by Stevemartinsu: 12:19pm On Apr 26, 2019
It was a day of commotion at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, AAUA, in Ondo State as students hit the school environs to protest over what they described as “obnoxious” policy of the school management. The protest by the students, according to reports, was instigated by the ‘No School Fee, No Test’ order given by the management of the university.

The protest was later followed by an order from the school authorities which stated that students should vacate the campus and embark on a mid semester break so as to calm the situation down and prevent the disruption of law and order but the students and the destruction of school properties.

A statement by the school Register, Dr Sunday Ayeerun read;

“The Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has approved a Mid-Semester break for all students of the University. All students of the university are, therefore, advised to proceed on the Mid-Semester break with immediate effect."

“Students are to resume to campus on Monday, May 20."
