Former Liverpool star Steven Gerard got newly signed to LA Galaxy where he's paid about $100k a week and has moved to LA from England with his wife and three children.

President Buhari on Wednesday, turned down the proposal to purchase five customised armored Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars meant for him at the cost of about N400 million. He said he will stick to the old ones the former President used.

The proposal was rejected when he received briefings from the Permanent Secretary (State House) Mr. Nebolisa Emodi.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan had advised the plan be left for Buhari because the cars might not be delivered before he will leave the office. Buhari directed that the proposal be dropped.

Muhammadu Buhari told Permanent Secretary that the cars left behind by the former President were good enough for him. Although, the President approved the plan of the Permanent Secretary to reduce the operating cost of the State House and strengthen its Finance and Accounts Internal Control Mechanisms. He also gave the directive that all State House expenses be within the approved budget to avoid the frequent recourse to ''Presidential Intervention Funds'' as was rampant during the last administration.

The ongoing rivalry war between Nollywood superstars Omotola Jalade and Genevieve Nnaji is far from over.

According to a popular American cinematographer Keith L Smith who witnessed the two recently on a movie set, it was very obvious the duo are not into each other anymore.

Keith said the two kept a wide distance from each other to avoid stepping on each other’s toes.
Hear what Mr Keith Smith told a Lagos softsell magazine:

“Let me tell you something: it was amazing. I did not see it, but I felt it. However, they were very professional with the way they got along. I knew there was something between them, and I had heard of it. But when they got in front of the camera, they put all that behind them, but whenever they finished their scenes, they went their separate ways”.

He added that they parted without saying a word to each other as their colleagues exchanged pleasantries.

Or, how else does one describe a situation where a young medical doctor who died in a motor accident on the way to his wedding on October 10, 2013 withdrew about N4.3m from his own account in Union Bank in Kaduna few weeks after his death? Information from the bank indicated that the dead man used the ATM card to make the withdrawals.

A new twist emerged when the dead man applied for an ATM card from his bank and used it to clear his account. A family source said:

“When Chidiebere died, we discovered that his mobile telephone num­ber had been blocked. We were surprised because no member of our family told the GSM service provider that Chidiebere had died. So, we took up the matter and it took some time before the line was reactivated.

“We got the shock of our lives after re­activating the line. As soon as we switched on the phone, we began to receive alerts of withdrawals from his account. All the withdrawals were made after he had died and had been buried. During his life time, he did not use ATM cards but in death, he applied for ATM card from the bank in Kaduna and started withdrawing all the money in his account.

Worse still, Chidie­bere was not the owner of all the money in the account. One of his brothers who went abroad in search of greener pastures was sending money to Chidiebere to keep for him. Now, the brother is back and Chidie­bere’s corpse had withdrawn all the money as the bank wants us to believe.”

It was learnt that the family has con­tacted the bank on the strange withdrawals but it has been prevaricating over the issue.

The Benue House of Assembly on Thursday approved the request of the state’s executive arm to borrow N10 billion.

The House gave the approval in Makurdi during a plenary session.
The letter, seeking the approval of the House to borrow the amount, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Targema Takema.

The letter said that the governor of the state, Samuel Ortom, inherited an empty treasury.
Reading the letter, the Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange, said that reliable information from the state Ministry of Finance indicated that the state treasury was empty.

Mr. Ikyange said that the state workers were owed five months salaries.

He said that many state-owned agencies were on strike thereby grounding government activities as a result of non-payment of salaries.

Mr. Ikyange said the College of Health Sciences of the Benue State University (BSU) in Makurdi would soon face de-accreditation with financial implications.

He said the funds would enable the executive to embark on projects and to pay salaries to move the state forward.
Benjamin Adanyi, a member representing Makurdi North State Constituency (APC), said that members of the 7th Assembly were unable to collect their severance package because the state treasury was empty.

Mr. Adanyi said the inability of the government to carry out any meaningful development was because of the empty treasury.

He enjoined his colleagues to look at the request dispassionately, stressing that they should consider it without sentiments of any sort.

Joseph Ojobo, a member representing Ogbadibo State Constituency (PDP), lamented that the non-payment of salaries almost cost him his re-election.
Mr. Ojobo, therefore, moved a motion urging his colleagues to grant the request expressly.

He, however, enjoined the state government to reduce borrowing, but fashion out ways to boost internally generated revenue to complement the federal allocations.

Ianna Jato, a member representing Katsina-Ala East State Constituency (PDP), seconded the motion, but urged the state government to make judicious use of the money.

Ms. Ikyange put the matter to vote and members unanimously voted in favour of the request.
He directed that the House had approved the request of the state government to borrow the sum of N10 billion.

Mean while the past Gov Gabriel suswam left for USA on the handover day with his wife and son after shipping away 90billion naria, chief samuel ortom voiced out that no corrupt person will escape Buhari.
