Politics › Re: Shell Threatens To Leave Nigeria Over Crude Oil Theft by stevnwigw1: 8:35pm On Jul 08, 2022 |
NwaNimo1: Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) Limited on Friday threatened to leave the country over theft of crude oil and production challenges.
The company’s Managing Director, Osagie Okunbor, who stated this at the just concluded Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference in Port Harcourt, said the crude oil theft has resulted in the shutdown of two of its major pipelines.
He said oil theft was one of the reasons Nigeria could not meet its oil production quota of 1.8 million barrels a day imposed on the country Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Okunbor said: “Two of our most important pipelines in this country today are shut down with hundreds of thousands of barrels a day shut-in.
“It is a fact that the issue of theft, whether as a standalone or as the basis for us to meet our OPEC quota is an existential threat for this industry.”
Shell has been in Nigeria for more than four decades and together with other oil majors has decided to sell its onshore assets to focus on exploration in Deepwater.
The Shell MD said local companies which won licences to develop marginal fields would face challenges in transporting their crude once they start production.
Marginal fields are smaller oil blocks located onshore or in shallow waters and are typically developed by local companies.
Oil theft has resulted in the declaration of force majeure at Bonny Oil

Pharmmaqp: If your pay can cover the balance.
Just talk to your landlord and give him a specific date for repayment.
Omo.. I used to take loans from my previous company.. that didn't end well with me. I became naturally submissive and over loyal to an extent that I didn't even notice when I started being maltreated.. Just wait it out if possible.
If your landlord refuses.. go to your boss .. after this.. Don't ask your boss anything again noted |

I am on the verge of making a decision, I need advice, my landlord is on my neck, as his rent for the last year running remains 50k, I have paid 100k, as the rent for a self-contain is 150k in my area in Owerri. Now he has given me two weeks to pay the balance of 50k or risk getting a quiet notice, as he said their quiet notice is alien to the law because the area is a student area. I want to ask my boss at my work place to help me with the money when he pays he can deduct it or I will give him back. I met some of my coworkers and they advised me to meet our boss, is it right to do so? |

DOTian: I'm not hating but it's important to say this; Nigerian governments should place much emphasis on investing in science related courses and programmes , rather than spending billions to build up structures for all these art and social science courses. We place much emphasis on the wrong things. Nigeria can only develop her productive abilities as a country with more engineers and scientists. Lawyers can only argue endlessly in Court! Nobody exports the products of their agreements to other countries to earn foreign exchange.
Nigeria can even earn more forex if this was say a medical school. We see thousands of Nigerian doctors being recruited by foreign countries to work in their hospitals. Bad as this is since we need them back home, they will ultimately send dollars home someday! How many Nigerian lawyers get recruited to go work in foreign courts? Apart from splashing saliva left and right in dingy Court room,, what is the grand benefits of these lawyers in present day Nigeria? Helping to make people who lost elections to be declias governors!? Government should prioritize her investments in education in favor is science courses! That's what countries like China and Korea did. next time if a zoologist wins, he will develop the fisheries sector of the Atlantic Ocean |
