The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, the House of Representatives, and other ministries, departments, and agencies have all been asked to be sanctioned for failing to turn in their audited accounts. The MPs looked into CBN, NNPC Limited, the Niger Delta Development Commission, and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission and found that eight years’ worth of accounts—from 2014–2018 to 2019–2021—had not been rendered. Report of the Committee on Public Accounts on the Deliberate and Reckless Refusal by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government to Render Audited Accounts for the Periods 2014-2018 and 2019-2021 to the Auditor-General for the Federation was published on Thursday, and it contained recommendations that were approved. Of course, Mark Zuckerberg lives a simple life and does not buy expensive items except that he only owns a house worth $59 million; this is only one of the 10 properties he owns in the United States, and this is the situation for practically all the wealthy, beginning with Jeff Bezos and continuing with Larry Page and other wealthy people who own extremely nice homes, private jets, and very expensive automobiles, and saying that they live a simple life is simply one of the popular misconceptions. The issue with many people is that they mistakenly believe that living a wealthy life entails owning Rolex watches, Lamborghini cars, and Gucci handbags. However, these interests only apply to the lower class of the wealthy, who feel the need to demonstrate their wealth to others; billionaires, on the other hand, have entirely different interests and spend their money on entirely different things. Naturally, there are occasional exceptions, like Ingvar Kamprad, the owner of IKEA, but this is only an oddity and cannot be generalized as a norm.
