The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has cautioned that Nigeria is at high risk of importing the deadly Ebola virus from Uganda which stands to be officially declared an outbreak on the 20th of September 2022. The Federal Government has announced plans to manage inflation by releasing food from its strategic reserves after flooding destroyed local supplies. This was revealed by the Minister of Finance Mrs Zainab Ahmed at the presentation of the 2022 budget performance before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance on Wednesday in Abuja. The Central Bank of Nigeria has stated that in its quest to reduce the extreme hoarding of naira notes outside the banking system it is set to introduce newly redesigned naira notes for N200, N500 and N1000. The Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja Wednesday. The CBN said that it is worrisome that 85 per cent of the currency in circulation is being hoarded by Nigerians. The last time the bank redesigned the naira was in 2014 when it changed the design of the 100 naira note to commemorate Nigeria’s centenary. Kingsley Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Tuesday, enlightened the Federal Government on ultra-effective methods to battle the inflationary crisis besetting the country. According to reports, Nigeria’s inflation rate surged to 20.77% in September 2022, up from 20.52% recorded in the previous month, while the food inflation rate in September 2022 was 23.34% on a year-on-year basis, marking an uptick from the 23.12% recorded in the last month. The President of the Saudi-based bank, Dr Mohamed Jasser, at a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, in Abuja on Monday disclosed that the Federal government is to get $1.8 billion from the Islamic Development Bank, to be used to execute projects across the country. Long fuel scarcity with long queues is been seen in Lagos and other states as Nigerians scramble to get fuel despite not knowing why the queues are appearing. For about three weeks, Abuja residents have had difficulty commuting due to fuel scarcity as commuters pay twice what they used to pay to get to work. It appears the queues have now struck Lagos too. According to reports and observations, Lagos residents on Monday, experienced long queues in fuel stations all over the city, as fuel scarcity takes a hit on commuters. The United Kingdom and the United States of America have cautioned their citizens in Nigeria of a potential terrorist attack in the country’s capital city Abuja. The warnings were contained in separate statements to UK and US citizens in Nigeria on Sunday that noted the possible terrorist attacks could affect Western interests. Two major Bitcoin giants are reportedly accumulating BTC at the moment despite uncertain market conditions. According to Ki Young Ju, the CEO of analytics company Crypto Quant said, wealthy investors, are aggressively stockpiling bitcoin through the renowned digital asset exchange Binance.
