Facebook's social media accounts were temporarily taken over by a group of hackers on Friday afternoon. The hacking group OurMine posted on the Twitter and Instagram accounts for Facebook and Messenger, writing "even Facebook is hackable". The accounts have now been restored. OurMine claims its attacks are an attempt to show cyber vulnerabilities. In January it hijacked over a dozen accounts for teams in the US National Football League. The group posted a statement on Facebook's Twitter account. "Hi, we are OurMine. Well, even Facebook is hackable but at least their security is better then Twitter." It also hijacked the Facebook and Massager accounts on Instagram to post a photo of OurMine's logo. Facebook's own website was not hacked. Twitter confirmed that the hacking occurred via a third-party and that accounts were locked once it was alerted to the issue. "As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised accounts and are working closely with our partners at Facebook to restore them," Twitter said in a statement. The attack on Facebook seems to have followed a similar hack on teams in the National Football League. The accounts appear to have been accessed via the third-party platform Khoros. Khoros is a marketing platform that businesses can use to manage their social media communications. Typically these platforms manage or have access to the passwords and login details of their customers. Khoros did not respond to a BBC request for comment. OurMine is a Dubai-based hacking group that attacked the accounts of corporations and high-profile individuals in the past. In the past, it has temporality infiltrated the social media account of Twitter's founder Jack Dorsey, Google's chief executive Sundar Pichai, and the corporate accounts of Netflix and ESPN The group claims its attacks are designed to show a lack of security. But it also instructs victims to use its services to improve safeguards. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-51424352

Senators will now confer among ourselves, with the House Managers, and with the President’s counsel to determine next steps as we prepare to conclude the trial in the coming days. Good night folks! |
By a thin majority, US senators have agreed not to call witnesses during Donald Trump's impeachment trial. This paves the way for the swift end of the trial, that is all but certain to end in Mr Trump's acquittal. |
The Senators are now about to take a crucial vote on witnesses. On the other news, President Trump has included Nigeria on his visa ban list. |
Gbe body |
Both Senate Majority and Minority leaders have agreed to a proposal that would wrap up the impeachment trial on Wednesday, but still subject to vote at the senate floor.

Source? good initiative anyway! |
Senate chaplain Barry Black has quite a targeted opening prayer for today’s proceedings as the impeachment trial nears an end. “Lord, help [Senators] to remember that they can’t ignore you and get away with it, for we always reap what we sow,” Black said. An Iranian passenger plane ended up belly-down in the middle of a highway after reportedly skidding off the runway during a botched landing. None of the 135 passengers on board were hurt in the incident in the south-western city of Mahshahr. The Caspian Airlines flight departed from Tehran. Its wheels did not appear to be fully down for the landing. Images and footage of passengers exiting the aircraft were posted on social media. State TV quoted provincial aviation officials as saying the pilot "landed the aircraft too late and this caused him to miss the runway". A reporter who was on board the aircraft said that the back wheel of the McDonnell Douglas plane had broken off and that the plane skidded without its wheels. Civil aviation spokesman Reza Jafarzadeh told the semi-official Isna news agency that the plane skidded off the runway at 07:50 local time (04:20 GMT) on Monday. He added that an investigation was under way. Iran has a poor aviation safety record. Sixty-six people were killed in a plane crash in February 2019, while dozens were killed when an IranAir plane broke into pieces upon landing in 2011. The EU has either banned or restricted two Iranian airlines from using its airspace over safety concerns. Iran had planned to upgrade its ageing fleet after years of sanctions were lifted as part of the 2015 nuclear deal signed with world powers. However, the US Treasury revoked licences for companies to sell passenger aircraft to Iran after President Donald Trump left the agreement in 2018.
